The staff at the Fern Pit are super friendly and the food is very good. Crab sandwiches and crab salads are my favourite. Caught daily, it doesn’t come any fresher! You can catch the ferry across the River Gannel and walk up the steps or you can access it by car from the Pentire Headland. 2023 might be their last summer season so be sure to pop by!

A hidden gem overlooking the Gannel Estuary and Crantock Beach, the Fern Pit Café & Ferry is within easy walking distance from The Sanctuary. Offering breakfast and lunch options, the café is known for its delicious crab sandwiches and lobster salad. The Ferry Boathouse, located down a path just below the café, provides access between Newquay and Crantock Beach between 9.30am and 6pm every day during the summer.
