Khao Sam Roi Yot, meaning 300 peaks in Thai, was Thailand’s first coastal national park and was founded in 1996. At approximately 99 square kilometers, the landscape of this national park is truly stunning, from the high limestone mountains to the plains and from the marshes to the fresh and sea water ponds, home to abundant marine life. With diverse ecology, Khao Sam Roi Yot contains an array of habitats. Highlight attractions include Phraya Nakhon Cave with its marvelous Khao Karuhas Pavilion. As it is situated underneath a giant hole, the natural light creates a stunning scene which is among the most iconic in all of Thai tourism. Other spots include Khao Daeng Viewpoint, where you have to climb to the top of a 157 meter peak to enjoy 180 degree views of the Gulf of Thailand. At sunset, hit Thung Sam Roi Yot Freshwater Marsh which is home to various wetland and water bird species you can hardly find anywhere else. The Wetlands at Sam Roi Yot are recognized by the World Conservation Union as being of crucial importance to the global environment.
