Cocktails come relatively cheap at The Attic; a Mojito, Melon Martini or Mango Margarita chimes in at RM15 each, while a Long Island Iced Tea tops out at RM20 - you might nonetheless need more than a couple of drinks for a comfortable buzz. There's also a mystery cocktail called Karma; for RM17, you supposedly get what you deserve but perhaps not what you want.

A small bar located slightly hidden in the CHINATOWN area. The Attic Bar in Chinatown is a terrific discovery, not only because it is hard to find but also because it is one of the only bars in the area to marry a substantial menu of delicious food with inventive cocktails. Extra special is the opportunity to enjoy the refreshments from a view-filled twilight on the terrace until late into the evening. Reasons to visit The Attic Bar: Authentic pork-free Italian food presented by DOP Concept in tandem with speciality cocktails. The Negronis, the pesto and the tiramisu were particularly good. Go at sunset to catch great views of the city at twilight and watch the sun drop behind the roofscape of Chinatown.

The Attic Bar doesn’t claim to be a speakeasy but it certainly has the attributes of one. It’s located discreetly on the rooftop of the Travel Hub flashpacker guesthouse, with no signs on the street level indicating its existence. To get here, you need to be buzzed into the first floor guesthouse, head to the back and then take the spiral staircase two floors up – where you’ll find a cosy, relaxed little space, complete with sofa and beanbag corners. They serve great drinks at reasonable prices in a wondersome Chinatown setting manned by extremly friendly staff. Bartender might offer to tailor make cocktails based on your alcohol of choice. Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 6pm-1am
