One of our favourites on a sunny day. Only about 10 miles out of York this is a lovely National Trust walk, take a picnic and enjoy.

This is a beautiful National Trust Property which hosts more than 100 portraits from the National Portrait Gallery. It is a Georgian Mansion with restaurant, shop and garden shop. The gardens have a wild range of flowers, plants, trees and vegetables and there is also a playpark for children of different ages. In the summer, the gardens can be a very relaxing place to sit and read a book. See the website on how to book and prices.

A beautiful large Georgian mansion near the pretty village of Beningbrough, overlooking the River Ouse. Baroque interiors, cantilevered stairs and wood carving. Restaurant. 39 minutes drive, 23 miles away.
