Just north of San Simeon on Highway 1 lies the Piedras Blanca Elephant Seal Rookery, the largest elephant seal rookery in North America and our favorite place ever because we love elephant seals. Here, you’ll find dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of elephant seals at different stages of their migration period. The best time to see them is January – March, that’s when you can see tiny floppy little fat elephant seal babies!
