One of the oldest North County beach cities full of restaurants and bars. Powerhouse Park is the biggest beach and in the summer, hosts free concerts. Jakes and Poseidon are two great restaurants with beach front locations.

Lots of great restaurants in Del Mar: Brigantine (view of ocean and racetrack), Monarch Pub, Il Fornaio (italian), Poseidon (beachfront), Jake's (beachfront), Tamarindo's (Mexican) and many more.

Often referred to as “the place where the surf meets turf,” Del Mar is famous for its beautiful beaches, world-renowned racetrack, wonderful weather, and upscale living. It's a place where you can spend the day on the beach doing nothing, or you can fill your time with nonstop action! Del Mar is famous with the locals for Dog Beach where Fido can frolic in the Ocean. Beautiful huge and clean beach. Nice “quaint town on main drag with shops and cafes, some nice restauarants. Directions: Take right on Hillery at end of my street. Go through signal at Black Mtn. and left at second signal past Home Depot. Then right at main street – Mira Mesa Blvd. Follow about a half mile to 15 freeway north. Take 56 West several miles to 5 North. Take Del Mar Heights exit and go WEST (left) off exit. Follow street to end (T-intersection) and go right. This takes you right into “downtown” main street of Del Mar. Go left at 15th for the beach (you’ll see grassy area and beach is below). Park anywhere you can find a spot.
