Starbucks? You just arrived in Portland and you want coffee you can get anywhere on the planet? The trick with Portland is these gems are not necessarily on the map. This is a classic 'In The Know' find. One of my favorite distinctions beyond the coffee and friendly staff: you will overhear conversations ranging from college students, financiers, developers planning the next megalopolis and a clutch of new mothers. Plus, you can rent a fantastic meeting room with full AV and comfy couches for $50/hour and FREE if used by a non-profit! Check the website to reserve.
