Un’isola unica nel suo genere. Calma, pace, contatto con la natura e tramonti indimenticabili. Un luogo originale dove vivere lo spirito del Messico. Ottimi ristoranti e spiagge immense.
How to get there: Drive to Chiquila Port where you will take ferry (leaves every 30 min) to the Island. Holbox is best for a few nights stay.
The smallest of the islands in the state. Holbox has a unique flavor and beauty.
“Isla Holbox is an island north of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, in Quintana Roo State. It's part of the Yum Balam Nature Reserve and separated from the mainland by the Yalahau Lagoon, which is home to flamingos and pelicans. The car-free island, between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, is rich in marine life such as sea turtles and whale sharks. Highlights include laid-back Holbox Village and Punta Coco Beach.” To go to Holbox from Cancun, you can travel by car or public bus (ADO 3:10 hrs. ride approx ) to Chiquila port and then catch the Holbox ferry across to the island. Or you can fly to the island by plane. -Holbox is a very unique place as it has one of the few ecosystems with "Bioluminescent Phytoplankton" (book a guided tour; a magical experience you won't want to miss!!)-
