Giant pebbles. A sacrificial altar, the Dieu du Tonnerre (God of Thunder) stones and those of La Guerre (the War), La Bascule (the Seesaw), Les Pains de sucre (the Sugar Loaves)… the Pierres Jaumâtres are a place of legends par excellence. At the summit of Mount Barlot, around 40 enormous granite blocks surge up and lean together at impossible angles. An amusing family outing to see, imagine, climb, touch… Careful though: the fairies are never far away. But don't worry, they enjoy being visited!.

Dit gebied, op de top van de berg Barlot, werd geclassificeerd in 1927. Het bestaat uit een groep rotsblokken, ook wel granietchaos genoemd, die onder de invloed van regen, vorst en wind typische vormen hebben gekregen. Aan de meest opvallende stenen zijn ook namen gegeven: de bascule, het oratorium, de suikerbroodjes, de belegering, de kikker en de duivelswieg. Tijdens de Romantiek oefenden de stenen ook hun aantrekkingskracht uit op kunstenaars. Zo heeft de beroemde schrijfster George Sand hier met haar geliefde, de componist Chopin, gepicknicked en de stenen als waren het creaties van mensenhanden in haar roman 'Jeanne' opgenomen. Je kunt hier rondwandelen, maar ook van het uitzicht genieten. Bij de ingang bevindt zich een restaurant.
