Gorgeous, mostly flat walking trails. A 20 minute drive south, in Cedar. Be sure to use your GPS, it can be a bit tricky to find the entrance to the park, which is at the very end of Hemer Road.

Located on Holden Lake. Just 7 minute drive from our Airbnb. The local Forest Park popular with local residence there is approximately 11 km of easy walking trails that we threw the park along the Holden Lake in the marsh areas. The trails are forested primarily with mature coastal Douglasfir and large big maple leafs trails are not marked but are easily identifiable and are well-maintained please be aware you could encounter bear or cougar in the area and dogs must be on leash.

Located on Holden Lake south of Nanaimo, this forested park is popular with local residents, who mainly come here to explore the extensive trail system. The marsh area at Hemer Provincial Park is also a favourite destination for bird watchers and ornithologists. A viewing platform over the marsh, approximately 1 km from the parking lot, provides the opportunity to observe various types of ducks, Trumpeter swans, Bald eagles and turkey vultures, as well as beavers. Approximately 11 kilometres of easy walking trails weave through the park along Holden Lake and through the marsh areas. The trails are forested, primarily with mature coastal Douglas fir, red alder and big-leaf maple.
