Trial Bay Gaol was a remarkable effort to incentivise prisoners to improve themselves whilst incarcerated. Ahead of its time. The Gaol today is a museum, with many thoughtful presentations and examples of what life was like. Get your photo taken in a prison cell!

Historic Gaol sits on the headland overlooking the magnificent azure waters of Trial Bay. It looks like the convicts had it easy with great views but they were contained behind the high sandstone walls of the prison.
