We stayed in Maria Finn's floating houseboat in Sausalito for the Labor Day weekend and were all around very disappointed with the accommodations! Maria was not available when we arrived, but did leave directions for us to navigate to the boat. We walk a maze of feces littered docks, dangerously draped with electrical and communication wires. To avoid contact with the wires, as we carried our bags, we were required to duck under and step over live feeds, some actually hanging in the water. When we finally found our way to the boat, we realized that the boat was recently under construction and that the view on all sides was obstructed by other house boats that seemed to be in varying degree's of disrepair. It looked like a junk yard storage area on all sides. The temporary steps did not line up with the houseboat step and it got worse as the tides changed. The interior itself was clean and tidy... other than the pile of cat vomit that greeted us as we entered. Upon taking a shower, we found there were no towels, no shampoo and the soap had dried hair on it. We chose a house boat so that we could sit out on the deck and enjoy the views....there were none! This was one of the only boats that did not have a clear view of the water...it was surrounded by house boats on all sides. The first night there, one of her two cat decided to use the bed as a cat box and proceed to defecate on my husbands feet. After day two, we actually contemplated staying at a SPA in the main town of Sausalito as it was the same price. Unfortunately no rooms were available. The final straw was location. I am an artist and I was showing at the Sausalito Art Festival for 4 days. We wanted something that was in walking distance of the fair grounds as we would be running back and forth to re- stock art. Maria insured us that we could walk to the fair grounds, that was NOT an option. It was a 10 minute drive from the boat. The boat was not even located in the area she described. We were very disappointed (understatement) and hope that in the future, Maria is more forthright when it comes to describing her rental.

Although located in a unique area of Sausilito, with many of the boats dating back to the 70s, the location of the houseboat was difficult to find with building works currently underway. This place could benefit from being cleaner with better bedding, more furniture, curtains in the upstairs area (where the single duvan is located) and awareness of how much mess the cats can leave.

Awesome experience. My teenagers loved our stay here. It was the highlight of our trip. Left kayaks for our use and kids kayaked in Sausalito Bay and saw seals on a floating piece of debris just beyond the floating homes. Very exciting for us!!!

One of the most unique experiences we have ever had - in a good way! Very roomy houseboat and access to the kayaks was a big win for us! Maria was incredible responsive and helpful. Finding it the first time is a bit tricky, though we were in the dark and Maria provided detailed directions with pictures.

Downtown SF in 20 minutes! It was the perfect balance of being downtown where it is fun & hectic and having an evening escape that is calm and quiet.

Would definitely stay there again.
