The Mid-Wilshire neighborhood is an amazing up and coming area that hosts many popular restaurants, museums, and parks. Even though it is getting very popular because of it's convenient central location, Mid-Wilshire is a very safe and walkable neighborhood.

MIRACLE MILE: aka- there's more than Melrose and Beverly Hills MELROSE: Melrose has cool art galleries mixed in with local LA fashion houses and at night, you'll usually hear a few playing live music in them. Melrose is split- the west side is bougie & full of housewares & custom fashion, while the east side is notoriously funky fashion and vintage finds. BEVERLY HILLS: But still- you can walk Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive if you want to see expensive shops and cobblestone streets and probably a celebrity on some reality show somewhere. I always take people to the cupcake ATM and Richard Simmons’ former studio (now 567-Broadway!) for a dance class. If you feel like cruising mansions and scouting for estate sales, Beverly Hills is always full of both! This is another rarely seen area that is very accessible and unexpected- Greystone Manor is a massive mansion on a hill where you can walk and tour the building- a lot of movies and music videos use it -it's Bruce Wayne's mansion and Justin Timberlake, Elton John, and Robert Downey Jr have all danced down these hallways. Now that I’ve been, I recognize it in tv and movies constantly. MUSEUMS: The Natural History Museum is GREAT! Expansive lawns for picnics and plenty of food trucks, dancing dinosaurs (really- they roam the halls!) and sometimes at night, they'll have live bands and DJs come in with bar carts and food! -And walking distance to the California ScienCenter! GREAT if you have kids. LACMA: Museum of Art Closer to The Grove is LACMA (an easy walk). Sometimes they have free jazz nights- pull up a picnic blanket and just hang out on the lawn, but DEFINITELY take 10 min to swing by and walk through the URBAN LIGHTS exhibit- one of the most iconic symbols of art in LA. The Museum of Motion Pictures is finally open and, as you can imagine, all of LA is talking about it! It’s right beside LACMA, so you can easily do both. And right across the street, in a strange, brain-textured building, is the Museum of Cars. The GROVE: I LOVE the Farmer's Market- in addition to fresh foods, there are lots of diverse food styles there to please lots of different palates all in one place! It's always full of dogs and celebrities and foods you thought only existed in other countries for affordable prices. You can also see the dancing fountains, where they'll occasionally have live performances and M-F will be taping EXTRA! with Mario Lopez (I got my friend on and she was interviewed by Suze Ormond). CBS tapes THE PRICE IS RIGHT here, but you'll need to get reservations and a place in line EARLY and wait patiently! HOLLYWOOD FOREVER: If you plan in advance, I also recommend spending evenings in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. They often have classic movies (tickets required in advance) and people bring picnics to enjoy live entertainment (dj, photo booths, food trucks) before the movie begins at sundown. They have an amazing Dia de los Muertos event in late October/early November as well, with face painting, authentic Mexican food, and celebrations. And if you’re staying out late, better hit up a classic: Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. Exactly what you think it is!
