Saco River: soggiorni in B&B

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Candlebay. The room was beautiful and the breakfast was fabulous. The host was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was exceptional. The accommodations were superb and exceeded expectations. The host was so friendly, helpful and clearly experienced in providing an extraordinary experience for guests. We were a very close walk to downtown Freeport. We will definitely return!

Beautiful place and spotlessly clean. Very spacious — it’s actually bigger than it appears in the photos. Convenient 2-minute drive to ski area. Bretton Woods Vacations was great to work with; when we had one glitch with signing the contract due to a last-minute change (added a night), they were able to reconcile quickly. I suspect the issue was more an Airbnb technical glitch than anything BWV did. Overall a great stay — would definitely book thru BWV again and would certainly stay in this unit.

We had a great time with Pauline and Jacques. The area was just as convenient as we had hoped for a ski weekend at Jay Peak. We wanted to get on the road early and breakfast was prepared for us at 7:30 am. We happily left with a jug of maple syrup and look forward to staying there again!

When I got there Valerie greeted me. Everything was amazing. I'm so glad I stayed with her, she made me feel at home.

I have been to many wonderful B&Bs over the last 40 years (Canada, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia, ...) and Brookhirst Farm ranks right at the top. Victoria and George are wonderful hosts. The accommodations are very comfortable, beautifully decorated and very homey. The view is incredible, one you would want to wake up to every morning. Every breakfast was delicious (George's pancakes were perfect). And if that isn't enough dogs are welcome. I will be returning more than once.

Pattie and Chris were a delight! Chris meet us at the gate and showed us around the cabin, returned with hot tea and an engaging conversation about wool (we are from Aotearoa, NZ and have a background in the world-of-wool) and other like minded topics. The cabin is cute, well lite (off the gid) and plenty of blankets for the cooler temperatures.

Dr. Jerr is a very kind and generous host - he provided us with fresh coffee and breakfast snacks each morning during our stay. We loved the location on Cape Elizabeth, close to Portland, and to many beautiful coastal and woodland trail walks. We came home laden with fish, flash frozen from the fish markets in Portland - thank you Dr. Jerr for your recommendation. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying with Dr. Jerr for exploring the stunning Maine coast and hope to find ourselves back on Cape Elizabeth again next year. Tom & Gillian Hamilton

My stay at Colonel Spencer Inn far exceeded all possible expectations. The building dates back to before the Revolutionary War and maintains all the charm of the era. David, the host, has wonderful stories about the inn's namesake, and the building's history. The breakfasts were gourmet. I can honestly say I have never, in my life, had a breakfast meal as wonderfully crafted as these. They were delicious, and fresh. They were not drowned in sauces or creams or other trickery; the made with the freshest of ingredients and prepared by a culinary master. This was every bit a wonderful stay.

Jill and Joe were very accommodating hosts of this lovely BnB. my room was clean and comfortable and the maid to order egg sandwich on sourdough for breakfast was perfect.

I would definitely come back another time. My experience was excellent! The food was delicious and the host was very friendly. Beautiful and charming environment with all of the antiques in the old house. Loved it.

We arrived at Maple Hil on a very cold afternoon in NH -- we were met with cozy living spaces warmed by wood stoves, coffee and tea available all day, and our room equipped with electric blankets and a space heater. Dennis fed the fires for us and provided silverware and dishes for our snacks in the living area; he also lent us snow shoes for a trek across the lake. We slept well and were excited to wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking -- as many reviews have said, the breakfast was perfect! We were located close to several ski mountains, a town with shops and restaurants, and Dennis had advice for all of it. This was a wonderful, cozy, perfect stay and we will be back for sure!

What a great place to stay! Charming Victorian house, scrupulously clean, lovely and very comfortable room, wonderful amenities, impressive and delicious breakfast choices and ample parking. Glenn, Pamela and Ingrid were very gracious hosts - helpful with my questions and accommodating and efficient regarding my need to check-in after regular hours. Couldn't recommend it more. Looking forward to my next stay there.

From Ron’s place to Waterville Valley Resort where I was going, was a short ride, much faster than going up 49 from the highway. Ron’s room 11 opens privately at ground level in the back of the house. There is an inside stairway to the upstairs as well. The suite has a large living room, a private bathroom and a bedroom. I was there by myself so it was much more than I needed. It would be great for two people and maybe more if they can share a bathroom. Everything was very clean and there were two big towels, two smaller towels and two washcloths. Great base for going to Waterville Valley and anywhere else around the area.

Sally’s home was charming and so was she! It was a delight to stay at her rustic New England home. From her classic antique New England decor, gardens, trails out of the yard, her homemade goodies and farm fresh ingredients… nothing was short of spectacular. Our stay here reminded us of our favorite traditional B&B. It’s hard to find places like hers. She was beyond accommodating for our little family and we would stay with her again if we were in the area. Thanks!

This is a hidden gem 3 min from crotched mountain. The property is beautiful and everything is very well run. Owners were super friendly and made us feel right at home. The room was spacious and clean and we enjoyed hanging out in the common areas. Dinner was a 10/10 and the service was great too. Definitely coming back in the summer.

Mary and Jim are wonderful hosts.They were very welcoming and made me feel at home. Jim prepared wonderful creative home made meals. I really enjoyed conversations about travel experiences and sitting by the fire with the pups! As a single traveler I highly recommend staying here. I hope to revisit some day to share more travel adventures Thank You so much! Josie

Beautiful location. Easy check in. The room was large and the food was delicious. And we had a great time meeting the goats, chickens, and cats!

A beautiful spot. A great room. Lots of outdoor spots to sit and relax. Awesome breakfast with choice for all tastes. My best Airbnb bed and breakfast ever. Can’t say enough about how great this place is.

Windy and Dean were awesome hosts. It is such a blessing for them to share their little slice of heaven with others. The home, location, beautiful landscaping and delicious breakfast makes for a wonderful experience.
