Food Scene

Very good food, home made pastas, I get the spicy chilli or a panini most often - always delicious. Local beer is served, occasionally live music, great coffee, cool and friendly staff! Outdoor patio to sit on is available in the back . My go-to spot when I'm in Alma, plus you can dine surrounded by my pottery :)

Now in their second summer, both the coffee roasting and the brewery are in full swing. Great atmosphere, excellent craft beer on tap or to take in cans or growlers - (medusa stout is my favourite). Snacks too, and a full schedule of music for the summer (see their Facebook page for schedule).

Tipsy Tails is now run by my neighbour Jeremy, a young chef who has worked abroad and has now settled back home and brings his skills and style to Tipsy Tails. Try to get a table outside, where you are right above the wharf. Everything is good there (lobster mac and cheese my fave) and don't forget to try a 'boozy pop'!

Alma is home to most of the restaurants in the area. There's a good variety. For groceries, local stores have the basics. You'd best stock up in Moncton or Sussex on your way here where there's better selection. Oh, and fresh lobster at the Alma shops!

Parks & Nature

So much to see and do in the Park.... lots of great hiking trails ranging from easy to long and difficult Some of my favourites are Laverty Falls (2 hours total, take your swim suits for a swim and a shower under the falls) . Dixon Falls- short and easy, but gorgeous walk through mossy forrest floors. Matthews Head- a couple of hours, great views of the coast. Point Wolfe at low tide- short distance gets you to the rocky beach there.

A beautiful place to go and see some coastline. For a walk, it's best at low tide when you can walk further. Shorebirds feed here in August. They are best observed when the tide is higher.

Worth seeing - a great place to see how dramatic the tides are here in the Bay of Fundy. Try to visit at both low and high tide.

This is a long beach, great for a hike at low tide. There is a small parking lot there with a short walk to the beach. If you go right at the beach you'll discover dramatic red sandstone cliffs with amazing textures caused by the tides and erosion. If you go left at the beach you'll have a long flat sandy hike. Two hours either side of low tide is ideal when more of the beach is exposed. Be sure to return from the rocky cliffs before the tide comes in. It's an easy area to hike.

Shopping

Karin has the largest selection of my pottery in the area, including discounted 'seconds' on her back deck and lots of raku fish that she designed and I make in my studio. She often has her own paintings and sculptures displayed as well. Best to call ahead, she welcomes visitors to the gallery: 882-2166. 1245 Route 915.

Jane and Steve carry a great selection of carefully selected books for all readers. Adjacent to their bookstore is the Artisan's Shoppe, which has a wide range of local crafts (including my pottery). Jane weaves, makes soap, pottery, among other things and they bring in a wide variety of crafts. Worth checking out.

This is a very nice gallery that features wildlife prints by Lars Larsen, but also has a wide range of other art including some of my pottery and larger pieces.
