Balade serves awesome Lebanese food. The falafel and shawarma sandwich are both awesome. We order from here ~4x a month. Delivery is super fast too because it is so close. You can't go wrong with their meze. The actual restaurant is romantic and very NYC if you decide to eat there.

The Union Square Farmers Market is bustling and filled with local produce and treats. It is usually on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the day. We like to walk around, buy flowers and produce, then grab something sweet to eat from one of the vendors.

It lacks the lines and history of Ess-a-Bagel but *spoiler alert* the bagels are just as good. The staff are friendly, the bagels fresh and big. Go for the everything. Please visit Tal Bagels :)

Ess-a-Bagel is a quintissential Manhattan establishment. It recently reopened across the street from it's old location following a rent increase dispute with the landlord. Lines are long on weekends, bagels are huge and excellent.

Just steps down 14th street toward Ave A lies a no hassle no razzle dazzle true NYC Diner. Don't come here for the eggs benedict, get the sausage egg and cheese on a roll. It's huge and the best in the city. Coffee keeps coming too. It's open 24 hours just in case.

They have a $30 burger, it's amazing, you might well see a celebrity here. It's hard to get in, the cocktails are done right.

It's decent Mexican food, (tacos and their self serve salsa stand out). They don't have a liquor license. Portions are generous, chips are free. The staff is likely too stoned to know what year it is but that adds to the allure. 4 people max unless you really like jamming into booths.

Hillstone isn't a NYC icon, but the cocktails are always good, there's jazz most nights, and the food is always spot on. If you're looking for a nice dinner with superbly knowledgeable staff head to Hillstone (but make a reservation beforehand). Max party size 4.

The boat basin is located right along the hudson river. It's for the warmer months. It's outside, you can eat (very mediocre food) and drink beers while watching boats go by and looking across at New Jersey. It's cooler than that last sentence sounds, trust us.

If you want upscale Korean food, and a selection of soju, Oiji is your place. The food we've had is all very good. Expect to get several items and share. We don't order dessert out, but get the honey butter chips. They're worth the trip alone.

If you want to see how Robber Barron's actually lived visit the Frick. The architectural details are amazing as is the art. The docents do a great job, and it's a little more hidden than the main NYC icons.
