Food scene

This place has become a favorite for our family when in the Paranaque area. The food is great, although the menu has shrunk over the years, they also offer great daily specials!

This is a chain all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant, which has become another family favorite. Our favorites are the marinated teriyaki beef and beef short ribs, though they offer quite a variety of meats you can cook at the table. The price at SM Bicutan which is just walking distance to Azure is Php599 per person, a really good deal for what you get.

Well, what can I say, born and raised in California, this was our go-to for late-night CHEAP eats! Although I will say, Taco Bell here in the Philippines isn't really that cheap. Our son and I usually drop about $30 to $40 USD for 2 to 3 people. But hey, it's Taco Bell - In the Philippines!

Great Filipino Food just a short Grab ride to Alabang/Muntinlupa. My wife and I found this place and it's become one of our go-to places when we're in town. They serve really great Filipino dishes with a twist. We've been going here for years.

MAKATI: Looking for some of the best street tacos in Manila? Missing those late-night taco carts on the streets of LA? So far I haven't had anything better in Manila than El Chupacabra. Their fish tacos, lengua, and carne asada are the go-to favorites!

Great for a romantic evening, WE PROMISE! Just a hop skip and a jump from Azure is The Nest, atop the Vivere Hotel in Alabang/Muntinlupa. They serve Filipino and Western dishes, rice can be ordered so everyone is covered and they have pretty good booze to boot! We've seen some live music there from time to time, but that's hit-and-miss. The view is really gorgeous in the evening and the ambiance is wonderful, just a great place for a romantic candlelit dinner with that special someone.

Sometimes you just want a Subway Footlong. Priced about the same internationally at about $5 a footlong. I usually order my sandwich with only salt and pepper, oil and vinegar, and sometimes with mustard. I'm still not feeling the Mayo that Subway uses here in the Philippines, it's really very different than what I am used to. I usually bring it home and put some Best Foods mayo on it before eating.

City/town information

If you're looking for nightlife, Makati is the place to be. One of our reasons for staycationing in Azure is so we can get to Makati from time to time and have a relaxing place to stay after. We frequent Greenbelt and Glorietta as they've got great places to shop and awesome eats too.

Neighborhoods

Rockwell, MAKATI: Looking for something a little more upscale? It doesn't get much posher than Rockwell in Makati. We used to live at One Rockwell and this is certainly one of the better spots in Manila. The security is on point everywhere and the restaurants are more upscale. You will be paying for what you get, don't expect any bargains here, but you get what you pay for.

Looking for another mall? Try Alabang Town Center or ATC as it's known around the way. Not overly huge, a little posher for the South, just across from Ayala Alabang Village, where homes run in the hundreds of millions of pesos, so, it's not your average SM. There's a Rustan's Department store here where you can find a lot of imported brand name items you might not find elsewhere. Oh! and Taco Bell is inside too! :)

Now, this mall is pretty big, and I myself have trouble getting around it all. More of a big SM Mall, not SM though, but like SM, this place has what you're looking for if easily found or commonly found in the Philippines. There are tons of shops and an OK food court. Lot's of restaurants in their newest wing of the mall and a lovely park-like area. You might spot vendors out in tents on some days selling street food on the river walk. The new restaurants are pretty decent, lots of chain restaurants, and both Filipino and Western food is available all throughout the mall. I go here to specifically buy Subway Sandwiches when we're in town.
