Sightseeing
Known for its spectacular views of planes taking off and landing over the Potomac River, Gravelly Point Park is a favored leisure destination for Washington, D.C. locals. Situated along the scenic Mt. Vernon Trail, Gravelly Point provides a great starting point for scenic bike rides and walks. It's also an ideal location to fly kites, birdwatch, picnic, or just spend a laid-back few hours recuperating from all the stress of travel.
Parking is free but in rare cases can be limited! If you are using public transportation, use the Crystal City Metro stop (South Bell St. exit) to reach the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail (off of Crystal Drive, just to the right of Crystal City Water Park) and walk to the park via the trail (will take roughly a half an hour).

The Pentagon Memorial, located just southwest of The Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, is a permanent outdoor memorial to the 184 people who died as victims in the building and on American Airlines Flight 77 during the September 11 attacks.
Not only an important historical destination, but also it lights up at night, creating a beautiful view.
