Climbing Arthur's Seat is a must for every Edinburgh visit, I think! It doesn't take too long (maybe 45 mins if you're quick) and there are fantastic views over to Fife and the Pentland Hills. If you're keen you can run round Holyrood Park (which has a path that goes around the hill), up Arthurs Seat and down again.

Its Edinburgh's iconic tourist attraction but even as a local I still get excited about going to visit the Castle. Make sure you go to see the Scottish Crown Jewels!

Its the main cathedral of the Church of Scotland and steeped in history. A very peaceful place to sit at the very heart of the city. You can know tour up onto the roof but I haven't made it yet.

It happens to be my local cafe but I would travel across town to come here for coffee and homemade cake. The menu isn't huge but pretty much everything on it is great, as are the staff.

Its a little bit West of here but you can join the Water of Leith walkway at Stockbridge bridge and stroll along by the river to the Gallery. There are always great things on and a good cafe too.
