Neighborhood
Our Neck o' the Woods...
According to NeighborhoodScout's exclusive analysis and metrics, our neighborhood, Memorial Forest:
1. Is peacful and quite. This is particularly true of our street, Towering Oaks Drive, a cul-de-sac, traveled only by residents and their visitors. It's rare to even see a lost wanderer, and we may get a handful of voyeurs during the festive autumn and winter months.
2. Has above average safety from crime compared to other neighborhoods in Texas.
3. Offers a diverse range of housing options.
This, along with the vibrant mix of very educated seniors and other age groups who choose to live here, makes the Memorial Forest more retiree-friendly than 99.2% of neighborhoods in TX. If a Texas retirement is in your future, this area should be one of the places you consider.
In a nation where 1 out of every 4 children lives in poverty, the Memorial Forest neighborhood stands out as being ranked among the lowest 0.0% of neighborhoods affected by this global issue. That's a lower rate of childhood poverty than is found in 100.0% of America's neighborhoods.
Memorial Forest is also pretty special linguistically. Significantly, 2.9% of its residents five years old and above primarily speak Korean at home. While this may seem like a small percentage, it is higher than 97.4% of the neighborhoods in America.
One of the shortest commutes in the country (15 minutes one-way), MF is a fantastic option for bicycle commuters, as 3.3% of commuters here do ride their bikes to and from work on a daily basis. This is a higher amount than we found in 95.4% of the neighborhoods in America.
Suite Home Ala Brazos is situated on the appropriately named "Towering Oaks Drive." Our law is adorned with the most and was likely the inspiration for the street's designation, since it was one of the first homes constructed on Towering Oaks Drive and in the Memorial Forest division. We have 5 towering oaks planted in our front lawn!
Along it's sides and around the cul-de-sac, you will find a small network of friendly and engaged residents who take their roles and responsibilities as neighbors and friends (and guardians) very seriously. In addition to being reliable neighbors who gather frequently for summer cookouts or polar plunges in January, we have each others' backs when we need to borrow a tool or have a power outage on one side of the street! Luckily, we live by the power cage and rarely experience power losses from storms nor rolling blackouts!

Historic downtown Bryan boasts an outdoor music venue, Saturday farmer's market, and retail shops along the backdrop of the old depot. City of Bryan and the Brazos Arts Council have invested in our local theatres, and the talent pool rivals any of the major cities in the state.

Set in the beautiful, newly-renovated historic Ice House on Main in Downtown Bryan, the restaurant shares an open-air kitchen with dining room, floor to ceiling exposed brick, and hand-built, suspension tables made using wood salvaged during renovation from the original office flooring.

Camelot Park is the crown jewel of the Memorial Forest neighborhood, IMO. This 21-acre park is only an 8-minute walk from Suite Home Ala Brazos or 2 minute drive, making it an ideal go-to spot for families and pet parents, respectively. As if the wide, open space isn't enough, Camelot Park boats a 9-hole golf field, Monarch Butterfly Garden, and a small tract off Broadmoor, opposite of the country club, running along Briar Creek for a scenic, wooded 7/10 mile walk or jog.

Didn't make it to Walmart in time? Don't worry! Kroger stays open an hour longer...6AM-Midnight daily...I recommend in-store shopping here only...the curbside pick up and delivery staff and management are no match for Walmart's customer service standard.
