Access to the grove is via a four-mile round-trip hike with 500 feet of elevation change. In winter you can expect snow or ice on this hike. It's an additional 1.5 miles round trip (and another 500 feet of elevation change) to the Grizzly Giant and California Tunnel Tree. Please bring water to keep everyone in your group hydrated (there is no drinking water available in the Mariposa Grove). The Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza (near South Entrance) has flush toilets and drinking water. The Mariposa Grove Arrival Area has portable toilets and no drinking water. The main trail to the Grizzly Giant is closed due to storm damage, but hikers can use the service road to reach the Grizzly Giant. While all other trails are open, hikers may encounter downed trees.

Tunnel View is easily one of the best and most popular view points in Yosemite National Park. Just after you go through the Wawona Tunnel, it’s the kind of spot that’s totally easy to visit by car This viewpoint is what Yosemite is all about – it really shows how vast and dramatic the park is. Standing on this vantage point, you’ll see the lush valley before you, with Bridalveil Fall on the right, El Capitan on the left, and Half Dome somewhere in the distance. Try and spot them all if you can.

El Capitan, rising over 3,000 feet above the floor of Yosemite Valley, is a favorite for experienced rock climbers and onlookers alike. El Capitan is best seen from El Capitan Meadow. From spring to fall, climbers come from all over the globe to scale El Capitan and discover the thrill of the vertical wilderness on Yosemite's big walls. Gain a different perspective at night and see the climber's headlamps illuminate across the El Capitan rock face as they prepare their meals or get ready for bed. Also, get a glimpse of the Milky Way or see how the rocks of Yosemite Valley glow beneath a full moon. El Capitan Meadow also provides a great view of Lower and Middle Cathedral Rock, and the Cathedral Spires, which loom over the meadow. Some people think these rocks, just opposite of El Capitan, are even more impressive than El Capitan itself!

Deafening in spring and early summer when the waterfall peaks in volume, you can expect to get sprayed with water when standing on the footbridge near its base. This short, easy walk rewards with spectacular views of both Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls. This one mile paved loop trail offers different vantage points of Yosemite Falls and Yosemite Creek, and you can stop at the many exhibits to learn more about the natural and cultural history of the area. If walking from the Valley Visitor center, follow the bicycle path to Lower Yosemite Fall shuttle stop and begin the trail. Consider walking the loop in a clockwise direction for best views of Yosemite Falls. This eastern portion of this loop trail is wheelchair accessible (when not covered in ice or snow).
