Russell Falls is arguably Tasmania's prettiest waterfall; it's certainly Tasmania's most photographed and one of the easiest to get to.
The falls are in Mt Field National Park, part of Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness Area, just over a 1-hr drive from Hobart. One of three falls that share the same watercourse, Russell Falls has a unique character and is the centrepiece of the park.
The 20-minute return walk to the falls is on a good track and boardwalk through lovely rainforest. The walk passes through towering swamp gums and species typical of wet forests and cool temperate rainforests such as dogwood, musk and myrtle. Closer to the falls the track is framed by stunning tall tree ferns.
Be sure to come back at night to witness the stunning glow worms in all their glory.

The Westerway Raspberry Farm is a business run from the Clark Family's farm, Lanoma Estate.
Raspberries, common throughout the Derwent Valley 40 years ago, were first planted in the old hop fields in Westerway in 1995 with the plan to supply machine harvested processing grade raspberries to Cascade Fruit Syrup. To service this market, Rob Clark planted one acre of the Willamette raspberry variety, a high yielding, soft berry with a naturally high sugar content.
Don't forget to grab yourself an ice cream made from fresh berries from the farm.

Take a good sealed road 150 kilometres west from Mt Field National Park to reach Lake Gordon and Lake Pedder, set in Tasmania's wild south-west wilderness and ringed with rugged mountain ranges.
Both lakes are a mecca for fishermen with some of the best trout fishing in the state.
Near Strathgordon is the mighty Gordon Dam, the the site of one of the world’s highest commercial abseils, run by Aardvark Adventures.
Lake Pedder and its companion Lake Gordon, together comprise the largest inland freshwater storage in Australia, covering more than 500 square kilometres and holding more than 37 times the volume of water than Sydney Harbour.
When travelling to the Lake Pedder area please take suitable clothing to suit the changeable weather conditions. Weather conditions in Tasmania can change quickly and frequently, especially in mountain areas. Snow, rain, wind and sun are all possible at any time of the year.
Park passes must be purchased for entry to Tasmania's national parks.

A short nature trail leads to the entrance of the cave where the Junee River rises to the surface after travelling 30 kilometres underground through a system of almost 300 caves.
The walk passes through groves of tree ferns and immense swamp gums, the tallest flowering plants on earth. The total return distance to Marriotts Falls is around five kilometres.

Feeding the fish at the Salmon Ponds is fun activity for visitors of all ages. There are $2-coin-operated fish food dispensers near the main gate and these dispense pellets that provide the appropriate nutrition to keep the fish happy and healthy. The fish are certainly enthusiastic eaters and throwing the pellets into the ponds creates quite the flurry of activity!
