Biking Destinations

Coler has a mountain bike trail system that is maintained and operated at a world-class level. The mountain biking trails are second to none. Coler is divided into two main areas: the Westside, perfect for beginner and intermediate riders, and the Eastside, designed for those who are more advanced or expert. The Coler Mountain Bike Preserve boasts over 17 miles of flow, cross-country, rock, dual slalom, and flyover trails—not to mention stone, wood, metal and jump features which advance the landscape on many of Coler’s trails, culminating in the crowning jewel of the preserve: The Peak One Hub. The Hub sends riders down one of three exciting trails all from a single location. From The Hub, bikers can choose their route based on the level of difficulty. From multiple flowy jump lines and contour flow lines to technical downhill lines and technical flow, Coler Mountain Bike Reserve really is the mecca for mountain bikers looking for the most diverse array of options in Northwest Arkansas and beyond.

‘The Slaughter Pen system includes trails ranging in difficulty from beginners (on the All-American and Seed Tick Shuffle trails) to expert (on Scott Allen Alley and Medusa trails), with connector trails taking riders between the various hubs of the system. An IMBA Silver Level Ride Center, it’s truly a trail system with something for everyone. Clean flow, major downhills, technical rocks, and huge berms. Insider Tip: Slaughter Pen backs up to the majestic Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art which provides the opportunity for a unique shot of the building’s architecture and large-scale artwork on the museum grounds around the trail. Crystal Bridges is bike friendly too so you can roll up after the ride and take a walk through a free world-class art museum!

Overlooking the beautiful Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and running parallel to the Crystal Bridges walking path (as part of the Razorback Greenway), this fun section of family riding is great for all ages. Optional raised features will allow the more advanced rider some fun as they introduce children to the sport. At the very northern end is a fun downhill feature that leads more advanced riders to the rest of Slaughter Pen Trails (this area is typically ridden downhill only, with the return back up the paved walking path).
