Garner State Park is a favorite for many reasons including their day use river access, hiking and nightly dances. Side note: Garner is very busy in the Spring/Summer. It is recommended to be there early for whatever adventure you are wanting to embark there. In the Fall, this is the place to go to for hiking and for picture taking.

The Back Porch at The Historic Leakey Inn is a fun hang out place on the weekends. They have live music, cold drinks, gift shop and at times they have a taco food truck and bloody mary/bubbles bar. Look them up on Facebook for any upcoming events.

Many people love coming to the Frio in the Summer but Fall and the beginning of winter is a great time for sight seeing this part of the hill country especially at Lost Maples State Park. The Maple Trees start changing this time of year and have bright beautiful colors that are Instagram worthy. Additionally, this park is a great place for hiking, birdwatching and picnics.

Keep in mind this is the Hill Country. Lots of winding roads in our area and please be cautious while pulling out onto HWY 83 at intersections. If you have a truck full of tubes, it is recommended to not travel on the HWY. There are usually other routes to take to get to your destinations.

We have an uptick in events in our area in the Spring and Summer time. Lots of live music in Leakey and in Concan. Various festivals such as Leakey's July Jubilee and rodeo. Please check out the Leakey Chamber of Commerce or any local venue's Facebook pages.
