It's one of the better places to eat at *in* Brian Head. It's not great by any means, but decent. During the weekends in peak season, a chef leases the restaurant during the morning and makes American breakfasts. Get there super early or you're unlikely to get breakfast at all. You can view both menus on their website at: https://www.sookjaibrianhead.com/menu.

This was previously the Giant Steps Cafeteria, and it's still cafeteria food. It's your basic burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. Sadly, other than Sook Jai, it's probably the best food (and for the price) in Brian Head.

This is the pizza place is Brian Head. Honestly, I'd stay away from it: the food tastes like its been sitting in a semi truck for 2 months and is really only edible after you've had sufficient quantities of alcohol to keep you from seeing straight and tasting your food.

Mostly known for a place to get coffee that isn't Starbucks. They actually do have sandwiches and breakfast food that's decent.

The only local hotel, and as expected there are two overpriced places to eat here: Cedar Breaks Bar & Grill and Iron Rock. Cedar Breaks Bar & Grill is good for drinks and decent for typical bar food, but not much else. Iron Rock is the "fine dining" restaurant. Are you drunk? Do you have tons of money you want to throw away? Is your wife pregnant and craving mediocre steak and warm wine? If you didn't answer yes to any of those, avoid this place.

Hands-down one of the best places to eat within an hour of Brian Head. It's a typical steakhouse that looks and feels like a Sizzler (but the food is better than Sizzler). From May - October when the Utah 14 (south Brian Head entrance) is open, this place is about 30 minutes from Brian Head with a beautiful drive. November - April you'll have to drive all the way around the mountain and through Cedar City to get here, which is easily an hour, but if you have time to kill, its worth it over going to one of the places in Brian Head.

Another good place to eat within an hour of Brian Head, sadly located only a minute from Milt's Stage Stop (if only they'd been more spread out). Also, another steakhouse. Food quality is the same as Milt's, but instead of a Sizzler vibe, this place is more your outdoor hunter vibe, with numerous animal heads as trophies all over the place.

City/town information

Parowan is a small town at the base of the North entrance to Brian Head. It's 15 minutes from Brian Head May - October, or 30 minutes November - April. If you need gas, the Maverick's in Parowan is THE place to get gas. You won't find gas cheaper ANYWHERE within 90 minutes of Brian Head. If you're a Republican and love Trump you'll fit right in. If not, you're a Republican and love Trump (I realize it hurts to say it, but if you want to live, nod your head and agree). It has a small grocery store and an Ace Hardware store that can be lifesavers when you don't/can't get to Cedar City. It has more places to eat at than Brian Head, but don't be fooled. The quality of the food is no better.

Even smaller than Brian Head, and not to be confused with Panguitch the town over by Bryce National Park! If you love hiking, fishing, boating, and raw nature, Panguitch Lake is a great place to go.

Cedar City is THE town near Brian Head. We recommend anyone coming to Brian Head hit Cedar City FIRST to pick up groceries and any other necessities. If you're looking to eat at a real restaurant, Cedar City is your best bet. From May - October Cedar City is about 45 minutes from Brian Head (and there are two ways to get there); November - April it's more like an hour and 15 minutes.

Sort of a mini Bryce Canyon about 5 minutes from Brian Head. You can spend 15 minutes, or days walking all the trails and seeing Bryce Canyon from various perspectives.

There's a hike at the north side of Brian Head, just barely within the town's limits. You can walk it or drive a vehicle to a spot where you can complete the hike. It's not a difficult hike by any means, although there are a few steep hills, but we RARELY see people actually complete the hike. Most people get about 1/3 of the way in, see the Bristlecone Pines, and think "that's Twisted Forest" and then leave. WRONG. The area with Bristlecone Pines is substantial. You'll actually continue past that, into an area of mixed trees, and eventually more rocks, before coming to "the vista". The trees are amazing, but the views are equally spectacular. If you're really adventurous, there's even a few caves that can be explored in the area, although they take some [real] climbing to reach.

Do you just want to drive to beautiful views? Do you hate hiking? Are you a fat or lazy slob that just doesn't want to walk? Or maybe you have kids that are... well... you know... and you don't want to be out for very long? Brian Head peak is your place. You can drive to it. You don't even need a truck. Get all the way to the peak and enjoy the views. Year around (although when there's snow, it's far easier with a truck).

About 30 minutes North of Brian Head are some spectacular petroglyphs. Just look in Apple/Google Maps for "Parowan Gap Petroglyphs" for the directions.

Got even more time to kill? Dig hiking? Like petroglyphs? About an hour from Brian Head is Lion's Mouth Cave. Just look it up in Apple/Google Maps for directions. While I wouldn't exactly call it a cave, there's a trailhead that takes you to what's known as Lion's Mouth Cave, where you can see more petroglyphs.

Down the mountain a ways is another trail with a beautiful waterfall and some great views. In fact, you can even see the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. This is reachable easily only May - October, otherwise you have to really love hiking to get to it November - April. Just look up "Cascade Falls Trailhead" in Apple/Google Maps.

No one goes to Brian Head for the food.

People go to Brian Head because they want non-stop good skiing or raw wilderness. Food in Brian Head is like an audio system in a convertible car: it's an afterthought at best. Your taste buds pay for that. You should only eat in Brian Head (or Parowan) if: you're taste buds don't work; you or your wife is pregnant and carving mediocre food; you're high and have the munchies; you burn everything you cook. There's a reason our kitchen is so well stocked. Make a stop in Cedar City - even if it's out of the way - before you go to Brian Head and do some grocery shopping.
