Get your picture taken with the LARGE Santa Claus in town. Visit the lighthouse in Christmas and explore Bay Furnace where you can admire the beautiful slag rock formations left behind from years ago on the beach. Eat a yummy family dinner at Foggy's or The Duck Pond.

Marquette has an AMAZING downtown to explore and many delicious places to eat. On your drive to Marquette, stop at Lakenenland Sculpture Park off M-28. Presque Isle Park (aka the Black Rocks) are fun to climb. Sugarloaf Mountain is a challenging yet gorgeous hike up with stunning views of Lake Superior and Marquette. Dead River Falls is a fun little hike. Marquette Harbor is sleepy and picturesque.

The drive to Grand Marais is simply stunning...and fun! You will feel like an Indy driver as you turn curve after curve through this forested highway. Grab an ice cream cone at the local Chocolate Shoppe ice cream store once you get to town, or a coffee from Stella (coffee served from a retrofitted VW van). Shop, visit the Pickle Barrel museum (a tiny house an author lived in to write tiny stories!) and wander beaches in this expanding fisherman's-feel town.

Variety of clothes even in summer

U.P weather is unpredictable. Pack for cool days even in summer. Please prepare for mosquitoes in late spring and black flies in the summer here in the North Country. If you are planning outdoor activities, bug spray and head nets will help to make your time in the outdoors more enjoyable. Enjoy your time exploring our beautiful area!
