We love their donuts and coffee! Orange glaze donut is my favorite. Outdoor seating is available. You can walk there too if you’re up to it (0.6 mile walk). The only drawback is sometimes parking can be hard to get during busy hours. They have a drive - thru though!

Price Lake is a beautiful spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We like coming here for an easy 2.7 mile walk around the lake. Renting canoes and kayaks during the summer is fun!

Grandfather Mountain is one of those places that you don’t want to miss! They have the mile-high swinging bridge, hiking, museum, and animal exhibits. You can make it an all-day trip. The admission fee is high, but there is a lot to do. If you’re really adventurous you can hike Grandfather Mountain starting outside of the park (I couldn’t tell you the details, but Google could!). The state park is about 25 minutes away from our home.

Linville Falls has multiple trails and beautiful overlooks! Definitely worth going to if you’re going to be in the area for a few days. It’s about 45 minutes from our home.

I don’t/can’t ski so snow tubing is a fun activity for me! This place has a ton of lanes. I recommend getting your tickets in advance. I’ve never checked out the zipline tours, but hope to one day. The location is about 30 minutes away from our home.

Parking in Downtown Boone
Parking is free on Sundays and everyday after 5pm. On Saturdays (except for game days or special stadium events) you can park for free on campus behind King Street. Parking downtown is $1/hour Monday through Saturday. There are usually attendants walking around, so don’t park without paying or park illegally. Some spaces are only for two hours and some lots offer multi hour parking.

Boone Weather
Check the weather before you come! It can vary day by day and even hour by hour. Boone is cooler than most parts of North Carolina. When it snows the city/county is usually good about clearing the roads, but drive cautiously. A lot of people drive AWD or 4WD vehicles. Most businesses remain open unless we get a significant amount (like a foot) of snow, but you can check online to be sure. Our driveway is gravel by the way!
