Jennycliff is a short 7 minute drive from the cottage, it has a free car park, café and stunning views of Plymouth Sound, over to Cornwall and the Breakwater, sit and watch all types of maritime vessel’s go about their daily business from Fishing boats to Submarines, you will never get bored.

Mount Batten 2 Minutes from Jennycliff, this man made pier stretches out into the Sound opposite Drakes Island, it is a great vantage point to see the Hoe, Barbican and the surrounding areas, it is also great for fishing with a variety of species when in season you can catch Mackerel, Whiting, Cod, Conga, Bass the list goes on, Mount Batten Tower (pictured)— In 1652, Mount Batten Tower, a 30-foot high circular artillery fort was built here; it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

At low water you can walk to Burgh Island where there is an art deco hotel where Agatha Christie wrote some of her books, and you can have a pint in the 700 year old Pilchard Inn, treat yourself to a walk to the top of the island the views are breath taking.

I would love to tell you in never rains in Plymouth…but it does! If your looking for some indoor activity try The Box Our newest tourist attraction opened last year, a museum tracing Plymouths history with some great exhibits and not a bad restaurant.

The hoe steepd in naval history, Sir Francis Drake was said to be playing bowls on The Hoe when The Spanish Armada attacked, you will find Smeaton’s tower which was bought back to land brick by brick and re built when the Eddystone light house replaced it 12 miles out to sea. and pictured the war memorial

Royal William Yard was once a Naval Victualling Yard storing supplies for naval ships, and is the largest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in Europe, it is now home to some very good bars and restaurants with fantastic views over to Cornwall, there is nothing better than an outside table, a seafood platter and your favourite tipple on a sunny day, there is also a great food market on the 1st Sunday of the month for locally grown and artisan products.
