Bakewell Town is 24 miles away. This lovely town is situated in the Peak District. There are shops, cafe's, restaurants most of which are dog friendly. It's also home to the Bakewell pudding which you can try in one of the tea shops. Chatsworth House is very close by (just over 4 miles) and if you want a good nearby walk head to Monsal Head, a viaduct. Challenging to get down to the bottom (& back up) but worth it for the views. It's flat walk when you get to the bottom and you can simply follow the river.
