The West Maroon Trail Head is a 45 minute drive from the condo. SUV recommended and some narrow roads with cliff drop offs. The road has been improved recently and a regular car could probably make it if you're adventurous and careful. Beautiful view from the trail head parking lot. Take the trail head, hike up along Crystal Creek where you'll pass a small waterfall, then further up the trail, an historic cabin. A really beautiful short hike or you can continue all the way to Aspen (but be prepared with provisions). Look on web for info. Here's one site:

This paved pedestrian/bike 'Rec' Path (or Foxtrot Trail) connects Crested Butte to Mt Crested Butte. My husband is a great mountain biker but I'm not. However, I love biking up this trail from Crested Butte to Hunter Hill Rd, then biking back down into town via the gravel trails of Upper Loop, Tony's Trail, and McCormick Ranch Rd. This ride is plenty challenging for me. Coupled with the free shuttle, you could also walk/hike as little or as much of this route as you'd like.
