as one of ancient 7 wonders it is a must see. it is very crowded so please be prepared. also take Uber all the way to the entrance (do not get dropped off nearby as the neighborhoods around are super filthy).

family friendly

It's a great way to spend the day with family or let the children run free without a fear of cars. Has a Safari, amusement park, lots of green areas and several playgrounds. Entry way only 90 egp per person for the whole day

for the too hot day you can take your kids to kidzania. if they speak a little English they can role play lots of professions from fire fighters and police, actors and dancers to factory workers making cheese or Nutella.... there's a playroom for smaller kids as well

Uber is the easiest

not many people in Cairo speak English. there are no signs in English. unless you speak Arabic is very hard to get around by public transportation. on the other hand there's a lot of new metro lines and minibuses going almost everywhere. but unless you know your way Uber is your best friend. the driver will probably not speak much English, but the app will help you get where you need to go.

Advice for women

Egypt is an Islamic country. that being said Egyptians are very respectful of foreigners. nobody will force you to wear anything you aren't comfortable with (exception is mosques - you need to have long sleeves, long skirt and head cover). however I would personally recommend loose and flowy clothes as opposed to mini skirts and crop tops...
Cosa portare

good shoes

Cairo doesn't really have good sidewalks. high heels or flip flops are not recommended as you can easily get hurt. it's much better to bring boots or sports shoes so be at eas while walking.
In viaggio con bambini

bring your stroller

you do not want your kids running free in Cairo. bring stroller with big roof that can cover the child completely ( and not black - mind the very strong sun). when you walk you will see all the small children only walking hand in hand with their mother. running free is not safe in Cairo.
Cosa portare

toilet paper to go

Arabs everywhere use 'shattafa' = a bidet . And they do not use toilet paper. we have toilet paper provided, but you will not find any in cafes, restaurants and public bathrooms. bring your own.
