Cape Charles Historic District
5 T-1115Do you know about Chincoteague? The national park there is on the sea, not bay, so you get waves, and it's beautiful! They are famous for the wild ponies. There are many boat tour companies that take you around the island and give you the history. We have taken both Daisey's Island Cruises and Captain Dan's both were lovely. We brought lunch and a beverage on Daisey's. A small but wonderful brewery is called Black Narrows Brewing (a seafood take out right next door that you can bring the food over to have with your beer.) Island creamery- ice cream is legendary. Our friends rave about a Bill's Prime steak house, we have not eaten there. It's a little over an hour to get there. On the way you pass Wallops Island where Nasa launches rockets.
Oh, one more thing, if you go to the beach there it is less crowded if you rive all the way down toward the end of the parking lot.
Make a great day!

Best Beaches
From a tiny parking area, it is a beautiful walk to the beach. Check the tide schedule, there is more beach to enjoy at low tide.

Birding Eastern Shore
Small preserve attractive to migrants in both spring and fall; worth a brief check of the boardwalk areas or a longer stint watching the bay at the boardwalk’s end, especially in autumn and winter, when jaeger and waterfowl shows can be significant.
Access: Day use year-round. No bathroom facilities on site, but public restrooms five minutes away in Cape Charles (at beach; in central park; and at public library). The trails begin at a small signposted parking area at the end of Patrick Henry Avenue (off Bayshore Lane).
