Driving into Hendy Woods feels like you’re entering a JR Tolkien story. This is a magical forest of ancient redwoods so wide you could drive through them. Really easy “hike” (more like a walk). There’s an entry fee per car - I believe it’s $8. Stop for apples or apple juice on your way to/fro at the Philo Apple Farm.

A beautiful spot where the river meets the sea. The river area is usually calm enough for younger kids to wade in and splash around, but the ocean side often has undertows. It would be so nice to spend a whole day here, bring a picnic and buckets for making sand castles!
