North Yorkshire Moors Railway

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a preserved historic railway stretching for 18 miles through the heart of the North York Moors National Park, from Pickering via Levisham, Newton Dale and Goathland to Grosmont, with a further 6 mile extension over Network Rail’s Esk Valley line to Whitby. It is the largest preserved heritage railway in the UK in terms of route mileage operated and passenger numbers."

Dalby Forest Visitors Centre

This eco-friendly visitor centre is one of the Forestry Commission's first visitor centres with sustainability as its main focus. Facilities within the centre include an information desk, Forestry Commission shop, hands-on interactive exhibition area, meeting room, external and internal toilets and Treetops Restaurant with terrace. The Visitor Centre sells maps and booklets about the various walks and cycle trails within the forest and is also the new home of the Dalby Astronomical Centre where events are held throughout the year. The Visitor Centre is wheelchair friendly.

Robin Hood's Bay

Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors. It is a fantastic place for adults and children alike with a beautiful family (and dog !) friendly sandy beach, as well as rock pools to explore and ancient fossils to discover. Wandering through its narrow, twisting cobbled streets and alleyways, you can easily imagine the sailors and fishermen, smugglers and press gangs that walked these streets hundreds of years ago. Today it is a vibrant village, with a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants, small shops and places to explore, as well as many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle-paths and bridleways right on the doorstep.
