Food scene

Rated one of the top Italian food eateries in the area. Interior is a bit dated but the food is always excellent

A tiny Thai fusion eat-in or take out restaurant. Some of the best Thai I've ever had. Not cheap but worth it. Dine outside on their small patio when the weather suits.

Sightseeing

Casual dining inside or out on their waterfront deck. Watch every kind of vessel pass by from yachts to ferries to the (very) occasional submarine. This place gets very busy on a sunny, warm day. Medium priced menu, full bar.

Neighborhoods

Marked by the new bridge that connects downtown Bremerton to the commercial and residential district of Manette. Several antique and collectible shops, a weekend winery (the Weekender), a cannabis store, tavern, another restaurant or two, a tatoo shop and my favorite, Sabateur Bakery, dot the two block long retail area. Salons and spas are just around the corner.

City/town information

Bremerton sits on a waterfront corner between Sinclair Inlet and Port Washington Narrows. The blue collar city came to be largely as a ship repair yard for the US Navy. It's grown enormously and the payroll underwrites much of the commercial activity in town and surrounding areas. The second "draw" are the ferries that run regularly to Seattle. The "fast ferry" takes about 25 minutes each way, people only. The slower car ferries take about 55-60 minutes each way. Passengers, cars and trucks board roughly every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. If you do go to Seattle and return you will notice a vastly different vibe between the big City and more rural Kitsap County.
