Step back in time when you wander the streets of Christiansted. Caribbean color mixed with old world European design. Brightly painted buildings are scattered along each block. If you wander the streets in the evenings, the shops are all shuttered. During the day they are open..selling unique clothing, jewelry and amazing local arts and crafts. Most of the shops close fairly early. Many restaurants are open for lunch along the boardwalk and tucked away in courtyards and gardens. Don't be afraid to try a place that looks like 'a hole in the wall'.. the food here is amazing. The restaurants are open until 9 or 10. Most are closed a night or two during the week, so best to either call or check the website when making plans. It's also a great idea to make reservations with the Covid occupancy restrictions right now. It's always a good idea to ask your server if there is anything on the menu that isn't available right away. Occasionally deliveries don't arrive on schedule or a popular item has already sold out. This holds true for the whole island, not just in Christiansted.

The Mill Boardwalk Bar Brick Oven Pizza... we can't visit the island without eating here at least once.. great pizza, fresh salads, cold beer and other beverages. It's all open air right on the water with some smaller private tables and also some larger tables where you might find yourself sharing space with others.. we have met some terrific people here! Get there early..they sometimes run out of pizza dough!

This unassuming restaurant in downtown Christiansted has AMAZING vegetarian/vegan options as well as seafood on the menu. Everything is delicious, we especially love the lentil balls! Try the Peanut Punch if its available!

Waterfront dining at Green Cay Marina..Has been a go to location for Steaks and Seafood in St Croix since 1984. They have recently reopened with a new Chef. Live music occasionally and a special wine pairing dinner every other Sunday night.

Plaza Extra East is a big store with a wider selection of items. I find a larger range of ethnic, vegetarian and vegan options here as well as staples. There are bulk items as well as individually packaged items and have a pharmacy too. The store is located at
4200 Estate Sion Farm.
Cost-U-Less is just up the street from Plaza Extra. (I call it the STX Costco.. And it is my favorite place to shop) The fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and cheese selection is very good. It's the only store where I can find bread without high fructose corn syrup. I buy big bags of frozen fruit for smoothies and frozen cocktails. The beer, wine and alcohol selection is large. If you are celebrating a special event, they have prepared cakes available. Many of the items come in large quantities so it's a great place to shop if you are staying awhile, have a large group and/or plan on making your own meals.

KMART is in the Sunny Isle shopping center down the road from Plaza Extra and Cost U Less. Inexpensive clothing and swimwear as well as flip flops. Health and Beauty items too.. You know..it's a KMART..
