Located west of Austin in the Hill Country community of Spicewood, the property’s springs feed a constructed swimming pool and a natural swimming hole on Little Cypress Creek. We locals refer to Krause as our own Hill Country Hawaii. Few are aware there is a fantastic botanical garden onsite. We have hiked in and around Krause and know an an additional large waterfall not far from the main waterfall and water basin. You can avoid crowds by visiting during the week.

Wonderful place to visit! Nice and cool 68 degrees, even during hot Texas summers. Unlike most Texas state parks, Longhorn Cavern State Park does not charge a daily entrance fee to enter the park grounds. Access to above ground areas, including hiking trails, picnic area, and historic CCC buildings is FREE for all guests during regular business hours. Cavern access is by paid guided tour only.

At the tasting bar is Bennett and his wife, Eugenia, ready to pour you a glass. Worner said they came across the sprawling 9-acre Spicewood site over two years ago. At that time, the property was occupied by Shannon Grant and Chris Carson, who were gearing up to open their new winery, 5 Soul Wine Co. The owners of the companies decided to come together and share the property with the hopes of opening a family-friendly, community-driven spot for Austinites and tourists. The partnership allows the companies to enhance the space. Jones, who serves as Frontyard’s brewmaster, said the taproom offers about 16 different beers, from a coffee milk stout to a honey blonde kölsch and a house-made root beer for kids.
5 Soul Wine Co., offers a variety of wines, according to Grant, who has over 25 years of experience in the industry.
The location at 4514 Bob Wire Road, Spicewood, will also feature a food truck, Gathered Farm to Trailer, and is equipped with pickleball courts, space heaters, fire pits, a jungle gym and seating.
