Cañon City has a very special trail that’s ideal for families, wildlife viewing, and taking in the gorgeous Royal Gorge scenery. Located one mile from downtown, Tunnel Drive is a flat, two-mile stroll along an old railroad bed that offers a bird’s-eye view of the Arkansas River and spectacular views of the surrounding canyon. Just downstream from the Royal Gorge, this crushed gravel trail travels through three granite-blasted tunnels and is perfect for walkers, runners, and bikers. The rock surrounding the trail is 1.7 billion years old, contains ribbons of pink and white granite, and was once 11 miles beneath the earth, which accounts for its smooth surface. At Tunnel Drive, you get a taste of the Royal Gorge without the crowds. With mile-markers every quarter of a mile, frequent benches, and zero incline, it’s ideal for people of all abilities and tastes. To get to Tunnel Road, turn south off Highway 50 onto Tunnel Road by the power plant on the western edge of Cañon City. Go straight on that road for about a half-mile until you see a yellow gate, which is the beginning of the trail.

Drive your passenger car on a road that ascends and follows the top of a high razorback ridge overlooking Cañon City. EnterSkyline Drive this one-way, paved road from U.S. 50 on the west edge of town and see the landscape falls away hundreds of feet on both sides, which is just a bit hair-raising! Cañon City spreads out on both sides of you and there are pullouts to enjoy the view. Towards the top, there is an interpretive display to help you see dinosaur tracks embedded in the cliff face.

Cañon City Brews & Bikes is the dream of Kirk and Mayra Anderson, brought to fruition through hard work and great support from our family and friends. Our goal with this business is to create a relaxed and friendly place to have fun and enjoy two of our favorite passions, brews and bikes! We are dog friendly on the patio as well! We were fortunate to stumble upon the historic 224 Main Street building, which suited our every desire for this business. It had room for a bike rental and minor repair business along with a room perfect for retail space (bike parts, apparel, hats, etc....). It also contained room for a custom indoor bar and seating area to enjoy when the weather is not cooperating or it's just too hot to be outside. But best of all, the outdoor patio and adjoining beer garden have exceeded our expectations. Historic 224 Main Street was built in 1878 and started as H.I. Jordan's General Store and evolved into many businesses over the years, including; a blacksmith and agricultural implement business, a steam laundry, a paint and paper hanging shop, a garage and auto wrecking house, an auto supply store, a furnace and fireplace shop, a custom western clothing shop and store, and finally a Brews & Bikes business. We plan on making the former businesses proud of what it has become today!
