You will feel as though you've stepped back in time. When me daughter and I go, "I do declare..." suddenly becomes part of our vocabulary.
The food is really good. We haven't had a bad meal, but there aren't many vegetarian options, unfortunately.
It's also right across the street from the original Mast General Store, so if you need to wait for a table you can visit that place.

Sightseeing
One could call it a tourist trap. Or simply a wonderful, old-timey store that sells everything under the sun. (The old "school house" has all the sales clothing so don't miss it if you're looking for a bargain). One of the coolest parts is the working post-office inside the store.

This is a short but cool hiking trail by Lake Coffey. It would be classified as a "strenuous" hike since it involves a bit of rock climbing, and a rope. But it goes along a little creek with a waterfall and is just beautiful.

The entrance fee is a bit steep (22$ for adults) but the mile high bridge and hiking trail are spectacular. If you're not scared of heights that is :) There is also a small animal park and a nature center.

Beautiful hike, beautiful views. Lots of people come up and stay up for the amazing sunset. Don't miss the hike across the way along the Rhododendron Gardens to the beautiful and less crowded outlook there.

Really fun place to go but only open on certain weekends in late summer/fall. Weekend festivals are great for the whole family.

The new Alpine Coaster is so much fun if you need a bit of an adrenaline rush. And the gift shop has lots of great souvenirs.
