A really beautiful walk known locally as 'The Honeymoon Walk'. From our doorstep you can set off on the old road from Fintown to Doochary. Alternatively you can walk over the hills to Fintown village.

The little village of Doochary with it's stone bridge over the Gweebara river offers a starting point for some licensed fishing, kayaking on the river or a stunning drive to Glenveagh National Park.

Dooey Beach. A fabulous wide beach with impressively high sand dunes that stretches on and on. Even on a 'busy' day you should have no problem finding a secluded spot all to yourself.

Pamper yourself with a seaweed bath at The Maghery Bay Salon and relax with views onto the beach. Explore further with a drive up around Crohy Head. Maghery is a 30 min drive from our cottage.

Hop on the ferry to Arranmore Island at the little fishing port of Burtonport and explore the island. Electric and hybrid bikes are for rental on the island.

Dungloe town situated on the coast is a 15 min drive from our cottage and is our main shopping town with a choice of four large supermarkets. Also part of The Wild Atlantic Way scenic coastal drive

Travel from Ardara through the Glengesh Pass to Glencolmcille. However, highly recommended is a stop as Maghera beach, which has a wild secluded feel to it and sea caves accessible at low tide.

Drive this stunning route to Glenveagh National Park past Lough Barra and through the mountains that you see from our cottage. A nice loop drive home is via Gweedore, passing Errigal mountain.

Ardara is known for it's production of textiles and is a heritage town well worth visiting. It also has a great selection of pubs offering music and food and is a town which hosts many festivals.
