Apple Blossom Hiking Trail

A 2.5 mile trail that connects Iron River and Caspian. The trail follows the Iron River utilizing and abandoned rail line. Camping and lodging available along the trail. It is a paved trail that intersects the state line and Iron Range rail trails that provide access to fat tire or mountain bike trails.

Bates Township Water Trails

The water trail is on the Paint River which is a popular canoe, kayak and whitewater rafting spot. The Paint River Trails offer a leisurely ride for canoers and kayakers alike. The first stretch of the trail is approximately 5mi long and starts at the Paint dam off of Parks Farm Rd and ends at the Towship’s Paint River Access Site on Bates-Amasa Rd. The 2nd stretch is approximately 7mi long and begins at the Township’s Paint River Access Site off of Bates-Amasa rd and ends at the Erickson Landing just west of US141 on Sheltrow Rd.
