This is a wonderful hike from our house. Going towards our neighbor's home on our road, you will find a few gravel washes going north. Go up any of them moving northwest of the red rock ledges. When you get high enough to see the river west of you, you will find an old road used in the late 1800's, early 1900's. This route took milk from Boulder to Escalante. This is a great historical hike, eventually it will lead back to Hwy 12.

There are no large grocery stores near our home.  There are small stores with limited selection in the towns of Escalante and Boulder.  Both Escalante Mercantile in Escalante and Hills and Hollows in Boulder, have a small selection of natural/organic items. We recommend purchasing your food before arriving. If you are driving from Las Vegas, the last larger grocery store you will pass is in Panguitch (Joe's Main Street Market), you might also have some luck in Tropic (Clarke's Country Market). If you are driving from Salt Lake City, the last larger grocery store you will pass is in Loa (Royal
