Ritornerei sicuramente!

A tiny self-catering stone studio in the Peak District with stunning views and great local walks. Great for a weekend escape – or a longer walking or bird watching holiday. South facing with a charming terrace overlooking the dale. Sun loungers and sunshade provided in the summer. There are lovely walks of all levels from the door and the regular local buses open up linear walks to/from Bakewell, Matlock and Ashford-in-the-Water. Visit The Hide throughout the year, both together and alone. There’s plenty of space for one; two need choreography once the sofa bed (super comfy - new August) is down. The walls are very thick, so it’s cosy and warm in winter and cool in the summer. Even in bad weather the view through the French windows is glorious and from the terrace it’s truly magnificent. Inside The Hide, there is a comfortable double sofa bed, fridge, cooking facilities including a microwave, table and chairs, TV/DVD, shower and toilet. The shower and toilet are currently being upgraded. WiFi available on request. There are 3 pub restaurants in the village We now also have an excellent village shop selling home reared meet, vegetables, fruit, sandwiches, household goods and excellent cakes. Peak Feast specialises in vegetarian food and bread and the Post Office sells newspapers, alcohol etc. and is open in the evening. There are regular buses to Bakewell. Maximum of 2 people. No smoking. Pets are allowed. Wi-Fi/internet access.
It is in the middle of glorious countryside. Fast flowing rivers, moorland, hillsides, open fields, woodland - everything except the sea! The village has 3 shops and 3 pubs which all do food and are dog friendly. It is 4 miles from Bakewell - a great walk for the energetic - get the bus back.

Altamente raccomandato

The Hayloft gives you the opportunity to get away and experience the fantastic Peak District countryside directly from your front door. Hidden away in beautiful Wensley Dale, locations don't come much better than this. The apartment has an attractive loft style feel, with beamed ceilings, modern facilities and beautiful furniture. There are also 2 external private seating areas so that you can take in the lovely countryside surrounding the apartment.
The Hayloft has been carefully created out of a mellow stone hay loft in the midst of the sleepy little hamlet of Snitterton. It has a lovely vaulted lounge, dining and kitchen area. The lounge has a comfortable settee and chair, flat screen T.V. D.V.D, SKY and Wi-Fi together with a glowing inset electric fire. The superb kitchen has quality fitted units, halogen hob, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and automatic washer/dryer. A vaulted double bedroom. An adjoining bathroom with bath/hand held shower and W.C. Continental breakfasts, spa treatments and celebration cakes available on request - please contact Wendy for more details Well behaved pets are allowed but please seek our permission first - we charge an extra fee of £10 per pet which is payable on arrival
Don't forget to visit nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the Peak Steam Railway. Other treats include Calver Edge's breathtaking views, Monsal Dale's wonderful waterfalls, the 'little Switzerland' of Matlock Gorge, Sunday breakfast in the Devonshire Arms in Beeley and the ultimate of meals in Stone's restaurant in Matlock. Make sure you get back in time for a drink on the little patio as the swifts and house martins swoop overhead

Fully serviced, towel bedding etc., Accommodation comprises of lounge/ kitchen dining are with breakfast bar. Smart tv with internet access. New comfortable corner sofa with reading lamp. Kitchen area has all expected facilities with exception of a washing machine. There is a launderette across the road. There is a bathroom with comfortable bath (no shower) The bedroom is spacious comprising of king zip link bed. Double wardrobe and chest of drawers & dressing mirror. The bedroom has a tv point. The fridge does not have a freezer compartment. The hot water works off a medium/large cylinder and needs time to reheat after running a bath. A very old stone cottage but newly renovated inside. The cottage was my home, my children were all brought up there. I now live in a barn at the top of the driveway which we tried to build in as energy saving way as we could. During the cottage renovation we have tried to make the space as 'green' as possible.
The cottage was our family home for 20years and since moving out into the renovated barn we've given the cottage a full makeover. Downstairs there is a modern kitchen, dining room to seat 8, a main living room with a log burning fire and a second living room that can be used as a 4th bedroom. There's also a bathroom, utility room and drying room - an absolute essential for those wet wearied walking returning from the peaks. Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. One double, one double or twin (depending on what arrangement you would like) and one set of bunk beds. The highlight of the property to me is the conservatory at the rear - what used to be a working greenhouse has been converted into a beautiful space to sit and relax in the morning and afternoon sun.
The cottage is ideally located to get into the outdoors - walking, climbing, biking, canoeing, or whatever takes your fancy! Matlock town is a 20 minute walk along the road or 30 minutes along the new cycle trail and footpath. The local tourist attractions of Matlock Bath, the market town of Bakewell or the spa town of Buxton and the stately homes of Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall are all on the local bus routes. I've put various leaflets in the desk in the living room that you can browse at your leisure. If you want more suggestions for what to do just ask!
Grazie ancora Jane.

  • Incredibilmente ospitale, bella casa, giardino fenomenale!

Sausage Cottage is a beautifully converted pigsty in the village of Ashover. We are ideally located for visiting Matlock, Bakewell , Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall , Haddon Hall and Crich Tram Museum. We have World Heritage sites close by, such as Arkwright's Mill in Cromford, along with a variety of picturesque Derbyshire villages. Sausage cottage is within the village of Ashover , with many walks from the door. The village has 3 Pubs, Post office, café, butchers, grocery store and a gift shop.
No expense has been spared in the renovation of the property , from a bespoke kitchen, locally reclaimed timbers , the log burner, beautiful light fittings and furnishings.
Ashover has won Calor village of the year on 2 separate occasions. We have 3 excellent village Pubs, all of which serve food .The Poets corner is a real ale establishment and also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner . Quiet retreat adjoining open countryside Warning Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th July 2020 is Winster secret garden weekend. The village is exceptionally busy. Therefore if you are not interested in gardens that weekend is best avoided.
The Anchorage cottage is situated in a peaceful corner of the village of Winster in the Peak District National Park adjoining open countryside. Photo 10. There are beautiful walks literally from the door step. The White Peak Trail is 250 meters from the cottage. Photo 11 is taken from the field behind the cottage . Dating from the 18th century this lead miners cottage has been sympathetically restored and now offers self catering accommodation throughout the year. The Double bedroom overlooks the village and surrounding countryside. The en suite shower room has a wash basin shower and toilet. The sitting room has a TV and radio. The kitchen is separated from the sitting room by a breakfast bar. It is equipped with gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave and small cooker. Washing machine in separate building. The cottage is heated by gas central heating..There is a large well kept secure garden. Car parking on the premises, and free wifi.
The Bowling Green 100 meters from the cottage is a cosy typical village pub. This pub is very popular. I recommend that you book a table if you intend to have a meal there. There is a well stocked community shop and post office in the village which is open seven days a week.

A cosy, quirky 17th/19th century cottage with simple charm. Small, stone, single storey one bed dwelling that used to be the village shop. Log burner in the spacious lounge. A kitchen with everything you need and it's own secret garden with views of Riber castle which can be seen whilst sitting in the rustic garden room. Ideally located for exploring the Peak District National park and the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Matlock 2.5 miles away with pubs, supermarket, restaurants, shops etc.
The cottage will be at your complete disposal, from the photos you can see there is a spacious lounge, a compact but fully working kitchen with all the utensils you require, if the weather is bad you could build a log fire and bake a cake! A spacious double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with a large walk in shower. Included in the price is bedding, linen and towels, tea, coffee and sugar. There is a log burner but you need to bring your own logs. First fire made up. Parking is on the road outside the cottage or just down the hill in the village square. Number 3 used to be the old village shop built in the 19th Century but some parts date back to the 17th Century! The outside space includes a small garden with a rustic garden room where you can enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the distant view of Riber Castle or just lock up your bikes. From the garden a gate opens onto to the public footpath that takes you down to Wensley Dale, a very beautiful area with rare breed sheep wandering around and wild flowers everywhere. From here you could walk into Snitterton or climb Oaker Hill the views are stunning!
Thank you for looking at Needham Cottage, Wensley. A pretty stone village which was once a thriving lead miners community. The garden can be reached via the ginnel, ie turn left from the back door, keep walking until you see the gate with Number Three on it, that is us. Here you can enjoy the view and see Riber Castle in the distance. Togetherwith the unusual upcycled garden room, table and chairs. A public footpath passes the garden gate and this leads you down into Wensley Dale, not the Wensleydale where the cheese comes from but our own dale of outstanding natural beauty. The Area The Derbyshire Dales is a place of wooded valleys, with an occasional steam train chugging through, passing sparkling rivers with their ancient stone bridges and rolling green hills sprinkled with picturesque villages with their unique shops, cosy pubs and cobbled yards. Don't miss the Barley Mow at Bonsal or Wirksworth. There is plenty to do and see from arts and crafts festivals, pop festivals, antiques shops and fairs, markets, historic houses like Chatsworth and medieval Haddon Hall. In addition to this there is the world heritage site in the Derwent Valley for historians of all things industrial including Richard Arkwright's Cromford and Masson Cotton Mills, at Cromford. The summer events list is endless with Well Dressings from May to September, The International Hen Racing Championships are hillarious, beer festivals, the spa town of Matlock Bath with its theme park, The Heights of Abraham, the arcades and pubs with live music are about 4 miles away and not forgetting Matlock itself, only 2.5 miles downhill a pleasant market town with the river Derwent running through it, a lovely park with boating lake, several pubs, wine bars, music venue, market day is Wednesday, there is a large Sainsburys, (supermarket) Wilkos, Iceland and unique shops. etc. Parking for the cottage is either outside on the Main Road or in the village square just a short walk away. Thank you again for looking at Needham Cottage.

Wensley is rather unique and is one of only a handful of Derbyshire villages whose names have Pagan origins. The village takes its name from Woden, the Norse God of War and there has been a settlement here since pre-Anglo-Saxon times. This `Sacred Grove of Wodan` is described in the Domesday Book of 1086 as `Wodnesleie`. It was known as `Weddenesley` in 1240, `Wedunsleye` in 1330, and finally recorded as Wensley in 1446 The villagers in Wensley were employed in the lead mining industry in the fields around the village in the 18th and 19th century. Situated in the Peak National Park, it is surrounded by rolling countryside. A great area for walkers and cyclists, or to simply relax in the quiet sunshine (sunshine not guaranteed ;>) http://www.aboutderbyshire.co.uk/cms/places/wensley.shtml

  • Ospite accogliente. Casa immacolata.

Ci ha fatto sentire come a casa. Abbiamo molto gradito la nostra permanenza.

A unique opportunity to stay in one of Derbyshire’s historic country homes; Riber Hall Manor. Riber Hall dates from the 1400’s. This beautifully restored Elizabethan manor house is situated in Riber, a tiny hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall. In 1724, the hall was split it into two halves. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with its deep history and authentic English country charm.
The hidden secret of Riber Hall Manor. Built by the Ribergh family, this Grade II* listed Elizabethan manor house was home to the famous Derbyshire Wolley family until 1668. During the Civil War, Riber Hall was a royalist stronghold and it is rumoured that a secret passageway exists from the hall to Dethick where the Babington’s lived. Anthony Babington was an English nobleman who was convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth 1st of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall and indeed one of our bedrooms would suggest this. By 1724, the hall was owned by the Chappel family and two sisters divided the hall and split it into two halves. One half of this romantic home was previously known as a highly regarded country house hotel. Meanwhile, the other untouched side seems to have been forgotten over the years, until now. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with authentic and fascinating English country charm, plus a deep history that we love to share with our guests. Riber is a hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales, situated high on a hill overlooking Matlock; boasting some of the most dramatic views in Derbyshire.
Riber is a tiny hamlet, just two miles from the spa town of Matlock, 5 minutes by car from Cromford and Matlock Bath. Local attractions include Gullivers Kingdom, The Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House (home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire) and Haddon Hall. Bakewell and Ashbourne are both a short car journey away.

Our house is situated on the edge of Wirksworth in Millers Green, its 15 – 20 minute stroll into the centre of town either over the fields along a well-defined footpath or along the road and walking distance to Haarlem Mill. It is in a private cul-de- sac of just four houses so does not suffer from any traffic noise.
The guest bedroom which has one double bed is an excellent size with wonderful views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside. There is a wardrobe and drawers available for you to use, there is also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The separate modern bathroom is for your private use, it has an electric shower, washbasin, toilet and bath. Our conservatory is lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down over the hills in the summer. Our garden is very colourful during the summer months and is constantly evolving, and provides another lovely place to sit and relax - bring your own wine and use our outdoor furniture for a ‘chill out’ evening. We will provide a simple breakfast suitable for vegetarians of juice, cereals, toast, fruit and yogurt along with preserves (homemade where possible), please let us know any other dietary requirements. You can also use our kitchen for the preparation and cooking of evening meals (by arrangement so were not falling over ourselves). If you wanted to eat in from the local take outs or have a simple supper or lunch of cheese, bread and wine etc. (there is a bakery & Co-Op in the center of Wirksworth which offer delightful treats) then we’ll make crockery, cutlery, glasses and space available for your use.
Wirksworth is a fairly unique and historic town full of odd nooks and crannies and the ancient and fascinating church of St Mary nestles in its small cathedral-like precinct in the centre. It has many independent shops and coffee / tea establishments. There are a number of fine pubs, some serving meals. There is also a splendid French style bistro (La Minstrel) which opens daily - advanced bookings are recommended for weekends. A little further afield many of the surrounding villages also offer additional fine dining. Wirksworth has a fuel filling station and a large Co-Op. Wirksworth also has its own heritage railway (The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway) who operate passenger services on the line between Wirksworth and Duffield mainly using heritage diesel railcars and occasionally steam locomotives. The town has well-dressings during Whitson week, and every September there is the unusual ceremony of 'Clypping', in which the church is encircled by the congregation holding hands around it. Wirksworth has the well-known Arts Festival, which happens over a September weekend. The Festival includes all forms of Art, with the Market Square the centre for music, dance and street acts while many of the houses around the village play host to many different forms of artistic expression. Tours and tour maps can be bought in the local shops during the festival. Being on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the White Peak there are many fine walks available to suit all abilities and a number can be done from our front door. Carsington Reservoir circular track is within a 30 minute walk of our home as is the traffic free High Peak trail which is suitable for walking and cycling (cycle hire is available locally). Famous Dovedale with its ‘stepping stones’ is only a short drive away. For the more energetic the gritstone edges and wild moors of the Dark Peak are only a 50 minute drive away. The historic town of Bakewell, the stately homes of Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Kedleston Hall are all within 30 minutes by car. Matlock and Matlock Bath with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham a short 10 minute drive. The National Stone Centre, Derbyshire Eco Centre and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre also have their homes in Wirksworth. We are also with easy reach of a number of local wedding venues including Haarlem Mill (10 min walking distance), Shottle Hall and Alison House among others.

Rockside Hydro - a stunning self catering luxury holiday apartment set within historic Rockside Hall overlooking Riber Castle & Matlock Town. Sleeps up to 6 people. Central to Peak District attractions - Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Cromford Mills & for the children - Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath. The Lathkill apartment was recently visited by Minnie Driver , & can be seen on the "Who Do You Think You Are?" t.v programme. * LOCATION SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN OVER 4 YEARS OLD!
Rockside Hall & Hydro. Rockside Hall was built in 1862, commissioned for a Mr Charles Rowland . It was a 1st class Victorian hotel for holidays in Matlock and a top class hydro - famous for its water cures. Hydropathy (or hydrotherapy as it is now called), is a kind of medical treatment, with water being prescribed both internally and externally. (Though the drinking of water was recommended for those undergoing hydropathic treatment, the water that was consumed by the patients did not necessarily contain medicinal properties) A Hydro was a building (hotel) where these treatments were carried out. Hydrotherapy was given a boost by the arrival of the railway in Matlock in 1849, enabling patients to travel from London in speed and comfort. By 1867 the line was through to Manchester, and in the heyday of cotton, wealthy mill owners from the north had easy access to the then universally accepted benefits of the water cure, and to the many accompanying treatments pioneered by John Smedley. The curator at the “Colour Museum” (Bradford) informs , “William Henry Perkin, discoverer of the first synthetic dye, Mauveine, was at Smedley's Hydropathic Establishment in December 1881, H. Caro, (a renowned European dyestuff chemist), wrote to Perkin whilst he was at Smedley's". The letter dated 10th December 1881 is at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. Perkin's discovery of Mauveine, led to the birth of the pharmaceutical and perfume industries“. Matlock Station remains largely unaltered from the time that Joseph Paxton, (the head gardener at Chatsworth House, and architect of Crystal Palace), had a hand in its design. All that is missing are the through trains to London and Manchester Once alighted from the trains, visitors were taken up the steep hill, which is Bank Road, by horse drawn vehicles. The facade of the building in which the horses were stabled remains on the Bakewell road, was rebuilt as The Crown public house. The attractive postcard [on front of website] dates from shortly after the building was extended by the architects Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin between 1903 and 1906. The towers were built at that time. The Goodwin family were running the Rockside Hydro then. It was advertised as a high class pleasure resort for summer and winter holidays in derbyshire, with resident lady and visiting physicians. The lady physician was Dr Marie Goodwin. This is the view from what was the croquet lawn. The grounds were laid out in the great tradition of the Victorian landscaped gardens, and much of its arboreal splendour survived until the 1980s Rockside Hydro
Central to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Cromford Mills, The Heights Of Abraham & for the children, Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath. Unspoilt by the progress of time, the Peak District offers some of Great Britain's most beautiful villages & finest walks. Matlock town itself has undergone some stylish changes over the past 4 years, with many new gastro pubs & bars supplying fine cuisine & real ales alongside the Portobello Road style antique shops. The central area of Matlock provides a hive of activities. The beautifully tended gardens & Victorian bandstand are surrounded be a boating lake, model train ride, mini golf , tennis courts & other pastimes for young & old alike.

A unique opportunity to stay in one of Derbyshire’s historic country homes, Riber Hall Manor. Riber Hall dates from the 1400’s. This beautifully restored Elizabethan manor house is situated in Riber, a tiny hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales. Riber is situated high on a hill overlooking Matlock; boasting some of the most dramatic views in Derbyshire. The guest suite has a four poster bed, luxury bathroom and bed and breakfast is served in the 15th century oak panelled dining room.
In 1724 Riber Hall was owned by the Chappel family and two sisters divided the Hall splitting it into two halves. One half of this romantic house was previously known as a highly regarded country house hotel. Meanwhile the other untouched side seems to have been forgotten over the years until now. This hidden, secret side of Riber Hall has authentic and fascinating true English charm. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with authentic and fascinating English country charm, plus a deep history that we love to share with our guests.
Riber is a peaceful, romantic hamlet hidden away in the hills. Yet close to both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall!
