We are only a couple of minutes walk from a footpath which takes you across the fields and onto the famous Lymington to Keyhaven Solent Way Walk and Nature reserve. The mosaic of ponds, ditches, and lagoons on the reserve support a large number of wetland plants and animals. In winter wading birds including Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew and Lapwing feed in the flooded pastures alongside Wigeon and Brent Geese. Spring sees the arrival of migrants from the south. Wheatears appear on the shingle at Iley Point and Whitethroats sing from clumps of bramble along the Ancient Highway. In early summer look out for Linnets and Stonechats perched on Gorse bushes around the reserve. Plants flowering on the seawall include Sea Pink, Rock Samphire and Sea Campion. In late summer the ditches are full of the purple- flowered Sea Aster, often attracting Wall Brown and Painted Lady butterflies. Several species of dragonfly patrol the waterways catching insects or searching for a mate. Mammals too make a home on the reserve, Roe Deer and Hares are frequently seen around Normandy Marsh while numerous mice and voles provide food for hunting Barn Owls. ABOUT LYMINGTON Lymington is a pretty Georgian market town in the south of the New Forest, Hampshire. It is surrounded on three sides by the New Forest National Park, offering a delightful combination of wooded forest and open heathland. The town sits on the western bank of the beautiful Lymington River, leading onto the Solent, with idyllic views of the unspoilt coastline and the Isle of Wight. To the west of Lymington is a coastal nature reserve to Keyhaven and Hurst Castle, recognised as a site of Special Scientific Interest. Lymington’s town centre was predominantly built in Georgian times and has a number of very fine and attractive Georgian buildings, which lend an air of history and elegance, in particular along the High Street, with its hotels, inns, shops and other businesses. There are a number of excellent boutique shops and independent cafés, with a good choice of well-known retail outlets. The large and busy Charter Market has origins back to the 13th century and fills both sides of the High Street from Church Street to Quay Street all day every Saturday, come rain or shine. The cobbled Quay Street leads down to the Old Town Quay, still used as a base by local fishing boats. Lymington boasts a variety of restaurants for all tastes, and many excellent pubs, both in the town centre and on the outskirts, as well as further afield in many of the nearby New Forest villages A major yachting centre with three marinas; Lymington is the heart of the UK’s acknowledged Sailing Mecca and famous for its connections with Sir Ben Ainslie and other sailing legends. The open-air Sea Water Baths date from 1833 and has recently been restored, making a popular activity for locals and visitors throughout the summer months. The town also boasts a successful coastal rowing club and a host of other watersports including kayaking, powerboating and paddle-boarding. Lymington has a vibrant marine industry, from chandlers, yacht sales and race crew management to yacht service, marine engineering and components. Between Forest and Sea: a wonderful place to live - or visit! With all this in mind, it’s not surprising that Lymington is one of the “Best UK Coastal Towns in Which to Live”. Combined with accessible road and rail links north to London, west to Bournemouth and east to Southampton and beyond, as well as the car ferry service to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, the town combines practicality with pleasure; the perfect work-life balance. There is a wealth of local sports, clubs and leisure activities. We are only 20 minutes walk into Lymington Town Centre and a short distance from the bus stop ! A short drive across the forest to Beaulieu Village , Motor Museum and Palace House. Step back in time on the banks of the Beaulieu River at the peaceful haven of Buckler's Hard. Discover what it was like to live and work in an 18th century shipbuilding village; home to the ships built for Nelson's fleet at Trafalgar. Today, the village continues to thrive, unspoilt by the passage of time; As you stroll along the nearby Woodland Walk you will discover how the local timber at Buckler's Hard was used in the 18th and 19th centuries to construct ships for the British Navy. Visit the Maritime Museum which tells the story of this unique village, bringing to life the characters who lived here at the time of Henry Adams, the Master Shipbuilder at Buckler's Hard between 1744 and 1805. Historic displays in the Labourer's and Shipwright's cottages show how the village would We are on the coast in between the cities of Bournemouth and Southampton.

This flat is set in a grade II listed building and affords views up and down the Georgian High Street. Recently refurbished, on the 1st floor is a kitchen, bathroom and lounge (incl sofa bed) and dining area. A large double bedroom covers the top floor.
The property has been refurbished, including a new bathroom. We always strive to keep our apartment in the best condition for our guests, therefore we have made the following further improvements in 2020: New carpets, upsized to a king size bed and refreshed decor. Set out over two levels, the first floor features a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and bright lounge (including sofa bed and dining area). There is a large double bedroom covering the top floor, with plenty of room to accommodate young children (if required) or to simply relax and enjoy the views.
LYMINGTON: Lymington is a market town steeped in history, from it's smuggling past to it's more legitimate business of the sea salt industry. As you wander down the High Street you can see how the town has evolved over the years into the yachting retreat it is today. Every Saturday this apartment has views over the market stalls that have an array of items to explore. There are also some fantastic restaurants such as The Haven for a lovely meal overlooking the Marina, to a more relaxed meal in the Kings Head (where the fish and chips are legendary) or if you are looking for a coffee, Ciao Belli serves up a lovely coffee (and some classic Italian food). A must during your stay should be a walk along the Solent Way towards Keyhaven. Starting at the marina, it follows the sea wall past Lymington marshes and wildlife reserve and offers beautiful views across the Solent to the Isle of White and the iconic Needles. The route is accessible by foot, cycle and buggy. The local park (Woodside Gardens) has tennis courts, playgrounds, rugby and football pitches. This is a lovely place to go for a picnic and the walk from the apartment to Woodside takes you past some of the historic architecture of Lymington. If you would like to get out on the water during your time in Lymington then boat tours around the Solent are available from the Quay. There are various options available depending on your preferences. Or if you prefer to stay on dry land, you can grab some fishing gear, kick back and do a spot of crabbing. THE SURROUNDING AREAS: Lymington has the New Forest on its doorstep so it is the perfect location to explore all the villages, trails, forest walks and pubs it has to offer. You also have Buckler's Hard, quaint Beaulieu and it's motor museum, Hurst Castle and Milford-on-Sea, Highcliffe Castle and Mudeford's beautiful beach, all a short journey by car or a bike ride away. There is also an excellent network of buses should you require them. DAY TRIPS: Lymington Town train station is only a short 5 minute walk from the apartment and connects to Brockenhurst in the New Forest where you can spend the day exploring the village and surrounding forest trails or hire bikes and venture further afield (cycle hire is available right next to Brockenhurst train station - maps and suggested routes are supplied). There is a ferry that departs frequently between Lymington and the Isle of Wight (Yarmouth), taking passengers and cars. Try to squeeze in a day trip over to the island to explore Yarmouth, Alum Bay, hike out to The Needles, wander around Shanklin or soak up some history at Osborne House. Lymington Pier ferry terminal is just a short train journey from Lymington Town station. If relaxation is what you have in mind, then Senspa or the spa at Chewton Glen should be on your list of things to do. There are loads of individual treatments or spa days to choose from - if you are heading to Chewton Glen then I would recommend having afternoon tea there too! For the children there is Longdown activity farm, where they can see and hold a range of cute farmyard animals!! If exploring further afield, then a great trip is to drive to the famous beaches at Sandbanks and catch the chain ferry across to Studland. From there, continue on to Corfe Castle, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove where you can experience some the the dramatic Jurassic coast. .... or you could always curl up with a good book, a glass of wine and watch the world wander by in the comfort of this lovely High Street apartment!

    Katie2019-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bella piccola vacanza in una posizione davvero fantastica. Lo consiglierei sicuramente.

    During COVID-19 we are not accepting any bookings online. Once the lockdown is lifted then we will accept guests to stay. If you want to book for a period out of lockdown, you need to contact us at New Forest Escapes please. Thanks. Rachel and the team. Calling all romantics, walkers, wanderers and design lovers. Come hither. This place is for you. Chic and cool, The Boat Shed is a mini ‘Grand Designs’ of a home. It packs a hefty architectural punch with its shingle cladding, log burner, multi-tasking living space, sleep space under the eaves and sunny, sheltered veranda. Unsurprisingly, The Boat Shed’s owners, Alice and Henning Stummel, have appeared on Channel 4’s Grand Designs with their London home, The Tin House, which was also shortlisted for RIBA House of the Year. Whilst the area bustles with the seaside life of nautical living and small town vibrancy this location is an oasis of calm tucked in amongst the trees. Hidden from the neighbours, this quiet and peaceful hideaway is perfect for feeling secluded whilst only being a gate away from the joys of seaside life; sea birds, tinkling boat masts and the fresh sea air. Just open the garden gates for a short-cut into the boat yard and coastal path. The Sea Water Baths in the Lymington Lido are just in front of you. Walk ‘not-quite-next-door’ to great food and the town, walk west to big skies and wild beaches. Alice and Henning have rescued and repurposed The Boat Shed in a similar playful and minimalist style to their award winning property The Tin House. Alice says, “We live in a utilitarian style, pared-down, simple and functional. We only have what we need and find that the decluttering allows for more freedom in such a small space.” Accordingly, space in The Boat Shed is used to a premium. A shipshape mini-kitchen is set into a wall of pale wood floor to ceiling cupboards, the table seats four, a comfy cabin-style sofa doubles as a generous queen-sized bed while the mezzanine space under the eaves very comfortably sleeps one and is snuggly for two (you could always ‘top and tail’). While The Boat Shed is close to the bustle of the lively and picturesque market town of Lymington, it is tucked away in a secret, secluded spot – at the end of Royal Lymington Yacht Club’s dinghy yard. It is reached through double gates and surrounded by a private garden with mature leafy trees hiding it from view. There’s a table for two on the cabin’s veranda while another table in the garden can seat up to eight if you have visitors – perfect for picnics, drinks and nibbles on summer days and warm evenings. The air is filled with the calls of seabirds and the view is full of boat masts – with the Lymington to Yarmouth ferry bumbling past in the distance. You’re welcome to bring your own boat for sailing. Access for dinghies is through the garden to get to the public slipway next to the Royal Lymington Yacht club which is available for guests. The house doesn’t come with a berth, so your boat will have to be kept on the driveway. A small RIB will have to be driven around to the slipway. Or hire a RIB or boat locally. Walk out the garden gates straight into the Royal Lymington Yacht Club dinghy yard and you’ll find yourself on the coastal path. Head east past The Mayflower pub which is excellent for food, meander through the bigger boat marinas and you’ll get to the cobbled town quay with cafes and more pubs, including our personal favourite cafe, Greedo. If you head West instead, you will pass The Haven Bar and Restaurant which serves fabulous food and instagram worthy cocktails. Following this path along you’ll head out of town for bigger skies, wilder walks, long beaches and the occasional cafe. Top inland destinations are easily accessible by train or car with The New Forest only a short distance away. Consider planning an adventure on the way home to maximise your time in this glorious location. Heading into the forest by train is a great day trip when you’ve exhausted the coastal options or fancy a change in scenery. We suggest walking to the train station at Lymington town, taking the 9 minute train across the National Park wilds to Brockenhurst and walking to The Pig Hotel for a fancy lunch and day out walking in the forest. The Pig is well known and celebrated for its local menu, working walled gardens and country-house style. Practicalities The sofa bed will not be made on arrival. We leave all the items you’ll need in the cupboards and you’ll have to make the bed yourselves. The Mayflower Pub is almost next door and does very good food at all meal times. Families/Extra guests The third bed is high, 4ft wide bed and above the bathroom in the eaves. There is a floor to ceiling slatted barrier on the long side. The ladder is vertical to get to it on the short side. For two adults it would very snuggly! But teens and children may be very happy here. Just please be aware that there is no barrier to stop them falling out on the short side. The kitchen table seats 4. Should you have guests visiting, there is another table for eight outside. Accessibility The Boatshed is perched on 1.5m high stilts. There is a ramp for access and there are no steps once inside. The door is wide enough for wheelchairs. The bathroom is small, narrow and has no specific grab rails etc for those with challenged mobility. You can park the car within 30 metres. The track is mainly flat, but cobbled and not even. Garden : There is a small garden around the property which has mature trees and is shady. A double gate opens directly into the dinghy boat yard storage area and the coastal path walking route is just across it. Kitchen : Tiny kitchen with sink, small convection oven, hob, toaster, kettle. Mod Cons : A Roberts radio. Connectivity : There is good 4G locally. Phone service is reasonable for most suppliers. Parking : There is off road parking for 2 medium sized cars. Kids' Stuff : There are no cots or highchairs here but there is space to have them in the main room. Please do bring them with you. Pets : Well behaved dogs are welcome at £30 per dog per stay. There is excellent dog walking on the coastal paths from here. No dogs larger than 20kgs please. Other pets, please ask. -- What makes this special... We love not washing up! Here you are surrounded by so many amazing places that are excellent for food, you can easily eat out for nearly every meal. Heading east The Mayflower is practically next door, meandering through the boat marinas will take you to the cobbled town quay with cafes and more pubs, then one minute further to our favourite Greedo cafe. Go West from the house and you’ll find The Haven bar and cafe. The walking from here is superb. We love Hurst Castle (boat out, walk back) to blow any cobwebs away. There is a great cafe there too. Or head along the coastal path through Milford on Sea beach out toward the golden sands of Highcliffe and plenty of cafe options along the way. There is a good bus service to get you home again. Going west are 4 miles of coastal nature reserve ending at the beautiful and rugged Hurst Spit and Hurst Castle (now a ruin – great for hide and seek and picnics). This coastline has great walks on mainly hard surfacing with views to the Isle of Wight Needles. Going east and north you soon access the National Park which is the smallest in the UK and full of wild and beautiful places to escape into. The bluebells here in the deciduous forests are a must – see in April and May. The short hop on the local ferry (terminal is walking distance) to the Isle of Wight which has its own sandy beaches (also walking distance). Limewood Hotel has a top spa, or you can get a home-visit masseur to pop in. Look at our blog for offers on Limewood Spa. 15% off for mid-week treatments for our lovely guests. For Foodies You really are spoilt for choice for pubs and restaurants in Lymington and the surrounding area. Within walking distance is Egan’s, which was originally the town police station, Seafood at Stanwells Hotel, Lanes, Elderflower, and the Yacht Haven to name but a few. There are an abundance of local pubs too. The New Forest area is 2 hours drive south of London. The city of Southampton is to the East, and Bournemouth is to the West but there are no major built up areas between. The New Forest is 300km square of beautiful forest and heathlands. It is coastal and The Solent is part of the English Channel. The small and agricultural Isle of Wight is part of the view from the beaches and coast to the south. The New Forest area is mainly flat with some rolling hills in the northern area. Walking and cycling here is particularly excellent. Tracks are well marked, have a good hard surface and you can detour to pass pubs and cafes in good distances for breaks. Horse riding is also excellent, bring your own or there are several good stables who offer forest rides or training. Dog walking here is lovely and dogs are welcome everywhere (including the coast) but should be on leads in spring and summer in heath areas for the migrating birds. Access is very good on the motorways M3 and M27. Train access is good and 1.hr 50mins to the sleepy Brockenhurst village which is central in the National Park. The area is sensitively managed by the National Park and Forestry Commission. There are over 4000 wild ponies, donkeys and cattle who live uncontained here and you will meet them on the roads and lanes. So travel carefully. There is a 40 mile and hour limit here for good reason. -- Further afield (and you can get here by train and a 15 minute walk) is The Pig in Brockenhurst and Limewood Hotel – both extremely well regarded. Book early. If you do go to The Pig, the walking from here is excellent (as are their teas and coffees if you can’t book in for a meal). Brockenhurst village is in the centre of the New Forest. It is a pretty and sleepy spot. Come for the slow life. the local bakery has been there since 1963, The Sett cafe is great, The Pig Hotel - is superb for local and slow food. Walking and cycling from here is particularly excellent. Burley area is a great eccentric spot. The golf course is an unfenced course so ponies and cattle can walk on the greens. It is well drained and well mown so the course is relatively undamaged and the animals are part of the fun of it. The village is busy and has a great local store. East End, Pilley villages. Very slow, very sleepy... three great pubs. Fabulous walking and beach access. Lymington. Busy, bustling, the centre of shopping and tourism. Well worth a visit to the weekly Saturday morning markets. Great coastal walking on The Solent Way which has amazing views. Lovely cafe's and restaurants. More vintage and pre-loved shops popping up - furniture and designer clothing. Waitrose and Tesco's supermarket. The waterpark at the old Lido is cheap, creative and amazing for kids in summer. Keyhaven village - extremely quiet.... no ponies and cattle here, you're out of the cattle grid zone. The coastal path is a lovely walk - head to Lymington off road in an hour. Walk to Hurst Castle along the spit, or take the boat is a must. Forage for samphire in late summer. Wild swim in some areas. Milford on Sea village is busy and full of good independent shops and some great foodie places. Hollands the independent supermarket is brilliant. The coast here is a secret to many. The beach is miles long, sandy at low tide and good for wild swimming, dogs and sandcastles. It's rarely busy. -- Owner and house rules. - The total number of adult beds are 3 with 1 baby in a cot allowed. - We do not accept any stag or hen groups OR any single sex, single generation groups. - Changeover days exclude any bank holidays or days either side of that. We would rather you book the right place first time, than us both have the hassle or reorgansing after you've booked. Thanks. Sarah and the team at New Forest Escapes.  -- Hi I'm Rachel Parsons, founder of New Forest Escapes. For 7 years we have been offering New Forest cottages and holiday houses. Big, small, luxury, eccentric, seaside and forest… We offer stays from 2 nights to 2 weeks or longer stays up to 6 months. In 2011, with a 6 month old baby, I started with one holiday cottage. After 3 years friends kept asking me to help out. Now we have over 20 houses and are looking for more. The team has grown from just me (thank goodness) and we have 4 part time mums in the office which is just outside Lymington. We are proud of the care we take of people. We're all locals. Our experience and knowledge of the area and the houses is excellent - we are in them often checking and primping things. We love to share the best local spots and help people make happy memories of this lovely area. Predictable as it sounds, it's important to slow down and smell the flowers and our mission is to inspire moments of happiness in everything we do. Also to make things as simple and easy for everyone we communicate with. We don't always get that right, but we do try! Here's a glimpse into our thinking: we like (and have blogged extensively on how to do...) Breakfast on the beach, Swallows and Amazons adventures, toasting marshmallows over the fire by the shore, the lived-in look, English eccentric style, exploring, country tracks, creativity and fun, Scrabble on the jetty, story-tellers spinning tales in forest glades, scrummy picnics… What we don't like, Beige and boring, characterless identikit rooms, thin mattresses, shower mould, no free condiments, having to lay your own fire, not being able to find the matches, scrabbling around trying to find information on where to go and what to do… Who is our customer and how do we help them? Since 2012 we have helped over 2000 groups holiday in the New Forest. We've had the normal: family breaks, 70th birthdays, weddings… And we've had the unusual: pet geese, divorce parties and film shoots. There have been a few particularly special groups whose VIP was terminally ill and came to celebrate their last family get-together. Quite a humbling and amazing experience to help with. Going that extra bit…We know how important and tricky it is to get 'the magic bits' into a break. To help we've worked up some 'experience ideas' for inspiration. We know which pub serves the more bizarre brews. The restaurant with the freshest fish. The perfect spot for your morning yoga and forest bathing. Everyone, whatever age, will love making memories together. Read more in our blog here. Amenities: Cookware & Kitchen Utensils, Hair Dryer, kettle, Balcony, oven, fridge, Fireplace, BBQ grill, Seaview, Beach, Parking, Family friendly, cycling; Bathroom: shower, washbasin , toilet; Bedroom: Bed Linen & Towels, double sofa bed, single bed; Kitchen in the living / dining room: Cookware & Kitchen Utensils, dining table, Crockery & Cutlery, cooking hob;

Senza dubbio ci ritorneremo!

L'appartamento in sé era eccezionale, veramente a 5 stelle!

Abbiamo apprezzato i numerosi bar e ristoranti a pochi minuti a piedi. Ci torneremmo se visitassimo di nuovo Lymington.

    Karen2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
