In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.
I can't believe that we've had the Hobbit House open for over a year now! Thank you so much to everyone that has stayed and left such lovely reviews. Yes it's a small space but everyone seems to have enjoyed staying. We've certainly enjoyed it ourselves a couple of times (well we have t test it don't we!) Nowhere else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival. The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside. A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided. Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven? We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends)
A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!
  • We had a great weekend staying in the hobbit hole! Cosy & the fire helped it keep warm during the night. It was so lovely to wake up in the middle of the countryside and get lots of fresh air.

  • Me and my family had a wonderful stay for one evening. Very cosy and had a great night sleep. Tin and Rosie were very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

  • We stayed here for one night - and what fun we had! Tin and Rosie (and Rosie's parents) were great hosts. The Hobbit House was really clean and was supplied with fresh water. It was very cosy and novel. There were speakers inside too which was a nice added touch. Although it was freezing temperatures outside & there are small gaps in the door do not let this put you off!! Whilst it may be a tad cold when you first step inside, once the fire is going it gets very toasty.... I feel the cold very easy but we had the fire going and it warmed up very quickly. Even had to take my jumper off! There was enough wood supplied and all the utensils needed to start the fire. We heated up some dinner on the fire and had a nice dinner inside the hobbit house. Whilst the toilet is in the main house it really isn't far at all and the path is lit via reacting lights. Thank you for a lovely stay and for going out of your way to make me gluten & dairy free pancakes in the morning - they were absolutely delicious :) we would love to come back sometime soon! • The Hobbit House is simply delightful; the views are fantastic, the whole experience is great. The breakfast is beautiful, certainly sets you up for a good walk! Thank you!

  • Unfortunately we were unable to stay the night as my wife felt ill not long after we arrived. The hobbit house was as described, nice and clean. Access to the hobbit house is via steps as described however we felt they were unstable and slippery which may cause some guests problems.

    Rachel2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The room was presented exactly as advertised - a really unusual, cosy room in a beautiful area. Would definitely come again!

    Eleanor2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting and and and warm welcome from Tin . Pancakes for breakfast were lovely, gluten free was not a problem at all. The Hobbit house is just lovely, very cosy and a very comfy bed. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be going back.

  • We had an amazing weekend at the Hobbit house. It was exactly as described, if not better. It is cold (as you would expect) but warms up quickly with the fire and you are supplied with ample firewood for this. It was perfect to come back to after long walks in the Brecon Beacons and Tin and his family are warm, friendly and helpful, and Edith is an absolute charm too. Five stars all round! Thanks Tin.

  • We took the road to John's place that he recommends and it was a beautiful drive through the Welsh countryside. His place is in an amazing location that you might not get to see if you didn't book through him. The cottage was just like the pictures. Very cosy, clean and good amenities. We went hiking in Snowdonia which was absolutely spectacular and I'm sure will be a highlight of our Europe trip. We wandered around the village as well, very beautiful. The restaurants john recommended were great. Definitely recommend to stay here.

  • Lovely cottage in a stunning setting. We had great communication from John and found his suggestions of places to visit a great help. We enjoyed a great walk in and around the slate quarry. Thank you John.

  • Stayed in john's lovely little cottage for 2 relaxing days. It is surrounded by gorgeous countryside great for walks. The cottage is a lovely little cosy cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks again John

  • Great stay at the cottage, the views are stunning and the tips of what to do in the area which John gave us were great. Thank you for allowing us to use your home.

  • John's cottage is fantastic and really homely, as well as being well equipped with everything you might need. There are amazing views from the bench out of the front of the house across the valley and out to the sea. The area is great with Snowdonia NP being easily accessible as well as the coast and Anglesea. John was excellent with communication, writing a very detailed list of recommendations for things to do during our stay. Hike to Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr was amazing. Would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back one day!

  • Lovely small house in a lovely part of the world. It's a great base for enjoying the great outdoors or (If the weather is mainly terrible like it was most of the time when we visited) just to relax in front of the fire. The house is well equipped for staying in and cooking but equally close to some lovely places to eat out. You can be in the top of snowdon or lying on the beach in just a couple of hours

  • We stayed at Maya and Robin's for 3 nights, and it was a really wonderful experience. The weather was cold and bright, so there were long walks along the Pembrokeshire coast to be had in the day, and time spent relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove in the evenings. The cabin was clean, spacious and had all the comforts we needed. Maya and Robin were gracious hosts, and offered recommendations of places to go (including the local brewery a short walk away). They also invited us to join in their friends-and-family football game, and I had a ride around their field on a friend's pony (thank you, Grace!). It really could not have been a more relaxing break. There's no wi-fi or phone signal at the cabin, but that just added to the experience; although I would recommend taking a deck of cards to help while away those evenings. Thank you again!

  • Maya greeted us from he front door of the beautiful church that the family rebuilt and remodeled. She then showed us up the private path to the cabin. The cabin is totally out of the way of the house and you really do feel like you are secluded. After a quick tour and being shown how to use the amazing wood burning heater and hot tub and amazing modern hob and oven (that I now want at home) we spent our time getting the hot tub warm and playing board games. My fiancee and I both have stressful lives and this place is wonderful to be totally disconnected, no phone signal, no wifi and no connections to the outside world. Just beautiful scenery and quiet. Not to mention the very handy brewery less than a 5 min walk from the house! Very handy! You are no more than a 15 min drive from Newport to head to the beach or to grab some supplies, the only shop we could find is a small Spar so I would take supplies with you and top up if you need too. There are walking tracks from every direction and Maya has left instructions in the house as to how to get to them, also where is best to eat or drink. At night, there isnt a sound, its so quiet and so peaceful. Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of champagne looking at the stars was a wonderful experience. Some people have struggled with the hot tub (reading the guest book) however I don't understand how they struggled. Start the fire, wait and once you hear it bubbling away you just keep feeding it A LITTLE! As a typical man, I kept the fire going once it was warm, this made it very very hot! So we had to leave it to cool down. Once you find the balance its amazing. The house is built to be very eco friendly, everything about the design has taken that into consideration, if you have a good fire in the heater then you can warm the cabin for 2 or 3 days, insulation is amazing. The hot water is done with solar panels and comes from the main house so it takes a bit of time to come though, but its great. The one slight surprise was the compost toilet, as we've not used one before but once you get used to it its absolutely fine. We totally loved our time here, we cant wait to book another trip and enjoy this beautiful home again. Thank you so much Maya and family. Stefan and Kim

  • We had a fantastic long weekend thanks to Maya,Robin and family letting us share a part of their world. They were friendly and welcoming and happy to answer my many questions before arrival. We loved the cosy cabin and its vast natural surroundings which is set in a lovely location. Lots to explore and see or equally an ideal place to sit back and relax. The cabin is well equipped and it was lovely to sit in front of the log fire and burn candles at night and enjoyed our daily visits from the hens. We went out to local attractions and beaches but also enjoyed the facilities around th cabin, trampoline, football pitch and stream at the back of the field. I've told anyone and everyone that would listen about this great place and we would definitely come again, hopefully 2016. Thank you Maya,Robin and family we had a wonderful time but think we would make our stay longer next time.

  • Maya and Robin were really helpful and hospitable especially as the time approached for me and my girlfriend to use the cabin. Robin was patient when going through the working facilities of the accommodation with me and the cabin itself was almost exactly how it was in the pictures Airbnb had taken.

  • A lovely place to visit so much to see and do

    Maggie2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the cosy cabin. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped. The beds were comfy and Maya and Robin were kind in providing an extra bed so our kids didn't have to share. The hot tub was perfect after a day's walking or cycling. We felt thoroughly spoilt! Maya and Robin were great hosts and able to answer all our questions.

  • Fabulous ! Everything just as imagined.Hot tub and views with complete privacy. So relaxing .

    Linda2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Maya's letting was the perfect base for a weekend adventuring in Pembrokeshire. The cabin is bright and open, with plenty of privacy. It has a very well-equipped kitchen for cooking substantial meals and a log burner that heats up the cabin in no time. Even in November. It's a lovey setting. There is a clear view of Carningli hill, which is in walking distance, and five minutes down the road is the Blue Stone Brewery. It's a pity we never paid a visit. Perhaps next time! The compost toilet was never an issue. If anything - it provided a conversation topic post-holiday. Would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxed retreat by the sea.

  • I stayed there 2days and I need 2 days to describe my experience! This 2 days of my life won't be forgettable, I loved every part of me being there. To make short Stuart is great person, with lots of interesting things to talk about, and his friends are amazing people to chat with. The cabin are so vintage and the sky pod is a another story. Don't forget that Stuart is really helpful, anyway go there and des over it yourself. Looking forwards to see them all soon. *ps ask him to show you his camera and photos ;)

    Ghaith2014-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart's place is such a find! A hidden gem close to Lake Vyrnwy and the gorgeous Rhiwargor Falls. We came for a wild swimming holiday and the wood fired Finnish sauna was such a treat in the evenings - as was eating dinner in the treetops surrounded by fairy lights in Stuart's beautiful sky pod construction. This is cosy camping style with an outdoor kitchen and a steaming hot shower under the stars. Stuart was a very friendly, generous, accommodating host and we enjoyed sharing a whiskey and some tales with him in the evening. Thanks Stuart!

    Laura2014-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a great time here. The log cabin is wonderful and snug (and warm at night) There's a nice seating area where you can sit out with a beer perhaps :) and look over the valley and river - which is a stunning view. Stuart was very warm and helpful and friendly - the perfect host. All in all, brilliant!

    Victoria2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart was the perfect host, very helpful but unobtrusive. The site is beautiful and well set up. Our only problem was the terrible weather!

    Thomas2015-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great to catch up with you again Stuart, had a fantastic time as always, kind regards Gaz & Nicole

    Gary2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say, Stuart was the best host and the reviews about him are 100% accurate. He makes sure that you have everything you need and will go above and beyond. He makes sure he is around when you need him but gives you the space you want so you can feel like you have your own private getaway. His plan is amazing, the log cabins and tree house are wonderly crafted and makes you have the best outdoors experience. If you like the outdoor, camping and the beauty of nature, this place is for you. If you are expecting the Ritz with not a spec of dirt of dust then save yourself some time and Stuart's time. This is a back to nature experience, you have a heated room, Kitchen with hot water, sink etc and amenities but it will be cold, there will be some cobwebs and sheep. That is the best part about it! When we looked at other reviews we heard about the VHS collection and what a collection. Of course in the valleys in Wales you won't pick up any signal, wifi or television but you can watch over 100 classic movies. The best part about the trip is the outdoor bath. We never got to gaze at the stars as it was cloudy but being outdoors in a bath sunk into the hillside, there is nothing more perfect with a drink and some candle light. If you are looking to get away for the weekend with a fab host who was helpful, in a place with picturesque views away from the busy day to day life, stay here...you won't regret it.

  • The Turning is ON the Hairpin, not just after the hairpin. When we finally got there we were amazed at how beautiful it was. The pictures are great but don't do it justice. It's secluded, idyllic and a million miles away from this fast paced life we have to live. I would definitely recommend this place if you're after seclusion, peace or a romantic time. Stargazing in a hot tub was a beautiful experience when having no light pollution, you could even see the cosmic dust. The bed in the main bedroom is fantastically comfy too. The whole experience was brilliant and out of this world. I had a lovely time welcoming in my 30's.

  • Stuart's place is very unique in a rural setting. Surprises await around every corner. Loved being out in the country, especially the open air shower.

Kirstie Allsopp's Best of Both worlds programme on Channel 4 featured this romantic getaway for two.
There is something about this thatched cottage that brings out the romance. We have hosted many honeymooners, couples that become engaged while here, and anniversary trips. It is simply lovely and cosy in an architecturally unique building near to the Welsh coast. Our situation provides guests with an excellent base to explore the many local attractions and the Coastal Path. By staying at Ffynnon Oer Isaf you will avoid the tourist crowds while being able to dip into the beach villages (or the water) as you please. If you wish to bring a dog please inquire first. Ffynnon Oer is ideally located. We are located on a good road so guests can easily hop in their car for a quick explore. Our guests enjoy the fact that Ffynnon Oer is a “hot spot” (compared to other holiday locations). We offer reliable internet with wi-fi so you can sit on the sofa and plan your next adventure. Most guests receive a decent mobile signal. No worries about having to roam around in a field or hilltop trying to get a signal! On top of all its practical advantages, the cottage itself will be one of the highlights of your trip. Ffynnon Oer Isaf is one of the best surviving examples of an eighteenth century clom cottages in Wales. It is Grade II listed in recognition of its “outstanding architectural interest. “ The cottage was built around 1750, and although there have been alterations, the interior arrangement and many details are original to that time. The “crogloffts” are traditional sleeping platforms that were once common in West Wales, as were wickerwork chimneys such as the one seen here. Apart from doing repair work, no one has built in clom in this area for well over a century. The walls are protected with a traditional limewash and the oak crucks and roof structure are all original and untouched since the eighteenth century. Our gardens are lovely any time of the year. Even in winter, there are over 20 different varieties of snowdrops. The front of the house is planted with a rose and herb garden. Please cut the roses and herbs for your enjoyment. We are dog friendly; however, our garden is not fully enclosed. Canine visitors adore the coastal path or exploring the countryside. Bath towels, bed linens, and bathroom welcome pack are included. The house is situated in a small hamlet of houses. We are near to the beaches of ceredigion, Aberaeron (15 minutes), Llangranog (30 minutes) Lampeter, the Llanerchaeron estate, Aberystwyth (35 minutes) and lovely dining at Ty Mawr Mansion which has been awarded five stars from VisitWales. Paragliding and walking is popular in the area. This property is co-located with another property that sleeps six. Both can be booked at the same time for a large party of eight. Please visit our blog for more photos, latest news and things to do in the area. Airbnb will not allow the posting of a URL. You can find our blog by searching for "Tales from Wales" and the words "spring water cottages" or add my name, "Melise."
Everyone loves the drama of the Welsh coast. The peaceful view of sheep across the meadow and our lovely gardens. View our blog for lots of ideas on what to do and where to eat: search for 'springwater cottages" plus my name, "Melise" to find the blog. Please note: the house name is Ffynnon Oer Isaf. There is a gate at the front that says Ffynnon Oer in the grille work.
  • Great information prior to travelling, Loads of added information regarding the surrounding area. Cottage so beautiful, everything as described. Housekeeper came to see us and was lovely. Couldnt have asked for more. We added to the romance by getting engaged

  • Beautiful thatch cottage where you can't help feel like you've stepped back in time! We took our dog, and found that most of the surrounding fields are privately owned. However there is a great river/forest walk about 5 miles away. The cottage is on the roadside but is surprisingly sound-proof. Well enough for a peaceful sleep (in the roof no less!) Had fun bird watching in the garden, and overall a great escape to the country.

  • We had a lovely stay at the Cottage! It was exactly as pictured, with incredible unique features such as low doors, hand finished beams, MASSIVE and lovely floor boards, and hobbit windows. It is impeccably clean, despite it's historic character. We were greeted immediately when we arrived by Colin, the owner's boyfriend, who was staying in the other side of the cottage. He was helpful and friendly. Melise, the owner, was prompt and helpful in response to our emails prior to our visit. The fenced back garden is lovely and we enjoyed the sound of distant sheep and a gorgeous night sky, despite the March chill. The front of the Cottage is quite close to the village road, on which the morning commuters traveled quickly, but we found it didn't bother us. The Cottage was cozy and warm, with a fire set for us in the wood burner so all we had to do was light it. In the morning, Petra, the housekeeper came by to check on us while we packed up. She was very nice and helpful. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it!

    Rosi2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a special little cottage! It was the perfect place for our mini honeymoon! Petra and Melise made us feel so welcome with a wedding card and gifts and everything was clean and cosey. The area is stunning and it's a great place to get in some lovely walks and fresh sea air. We will definitely come again. Thank you so much!

    Jessica2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing time here. So peaceful and so green! Loved the sheep in the field behind the garden. Melise has thought of everything you could possibly need, the kitchen is very well equipped. Melise was very quick to respond to all of my questions pre hols, thank you! Wales is so beautiful I would highly recommend staying here. It's a perfect location for a relaxing break but also close enough to enjoy the towns and beaches too. Definitely take a car to make sure you see everything. We did the Cardigan coast and made time to do a day trip down to Pembrokeshire. Both stunning. Book now!

  • We have had a wonderful holiday as Isaf- highly recommended! The check-in details and directions were fantastic. Would definitely advise reversing into the drive through as turning round isn't the easiest! The cottage was beautifully clean, fresh linen and towels provided. TV signal not fab but excellent wifi meant we could watch films on Netflix through my laptop in the evenings. Farm fresh eggs, bacon and sausages available to buy in the fridge when we arrived. Ample kitchen equipment. Sainsburys only 10 minutes away at nearby Lampeter for all shopping needs. We spent our first day in beautiful seaside town of Aberaeron, lots of lovely shops to browse. We took the coastal walk from Aberaeron to New Quay (again, great seaside town), it was about 5 miles we think and took us around 3 hours at a steady pace. It's quite hilly and we were tired out when we reached New Quay so after a nice ice cream we caught the bus back to Aberaeron for about £2.40 each, it took about 20 minutes. There's a gorgeous deli in Aberaeron where we bought some amazing meats and cheeses for our dinner that night. The second day we went to Dolaucothi Gold Mines (National Trust) - well worth the £8 entry fee which includes 2 x 1 hour-long guided tours into the mines. We had a picnic here too after the tours. That evening we ate at The Cellar in Aberaeron, it cost us £80 for wine, fillet steak and dessert for two- excellent food and service- booking advised! The third day we went to New Quay honey farm, it was around £3.50 each for entry into the exhibition- fabulous gift shop. It was a nice and interesting hour out on the way to New Quay harbour. We spent the rest of the day there collecting shells, paddling in the sea, sunbathing by the rock pools, and eating fish and chips from Mariners and ice cream from an amazing parlour. The cottage itself is magical, so quaint and cosy. The whole holiday was exactly what we needed. Thankyou Melise and Jan for a beautifully sunny Welsh adventure break!

  • We found the cottage to be a lovely relaxing place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for time away from the world

    Ryan2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little piece of heaven in the West Wales countryside. It is perfect in every way, and so thoughtfully and beautifully renovated. It felt like a real privilege to stay there and share a piece of Welsh history. We loved it, and it was so comfortable! Even though it's small, every comfort is there - right down to the champagne glasses ! the bed is really comfortable, the bathroom is fabulous. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back. And it's really well situated for day trips and lovely pubs and walks. Highly recommended for a romantic stay away.

  • Fantastic weekend in Cardigan Bay. The flat was gorgeous and just as we hoped, with everything you could need. Penny was incredibly helpful, showing us places to visit on a map. Which we did. Beatiful area, great flat in a great venue. Would highly recommend. Thanks Penny :)

    Sarah2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Penny's apartment is a beautifully restored attic facility in a house which she is carefully and lovingly bringing back to life. It is very comfortable and well-appointed. The gentle white textures contrast wonderfully with the ancient beams. The house is very close to the town centre and convenient parking. Penny was attentive to our every need and a lovely person to meet. She has such interesting ideas and was happy to provide us with terrific information about where to travel and where to eat. Her OS maps were a real boon. Our trip to St David's was memorable and Cardigan is ideally placed for visiting the lovely coastal villages the region offers. Thanks Penny.

    Deborah2015-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! Penny's Loft was very stylishly decorated, warm and cozy, and just a very cool place to stay! The loft had everything we needed and is in a perfect location for Coast Path Hikers..literally right on the path. And centrally located to stores, shops, restaurants, coffee shops. The best place we've stayed so far in our 40 days in Wales!!

    Jonathan2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my girlfriend were looking for a weekend break somewhere close to the coast. We searched for a while until we found the property listed by Penny. As soon as we saw the photos we knew that this was the place for us and couldnt wait to get there. When we arrived we were greeted by one of Pennys friends who gave us a very quick tour and handed over the keys. We were absolutely gobsmacked at how amazing the apartment was and it totally exceeded our expectations! We were the first ones to stop at the apartment and honestly the photos dont do it justice! We were so happy that we found it and it turned out to be the best weekend ever - we even got to sunbathe on the beach! Yes in Wales!! :-) The apartment is situated in a great location and the town of Cardigan is a lovely place. Cardigan is also only 45 minutes away from Aberyswyth and about 30 minutes away from a New Quay. There is also an amazing secluded beach in Mwnt which is only 10 minutes away by car and must be visited! All in all we had an absolutely amazing break! We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone and our only hope is that Pennys apartment doesnt become too popular cos we want to come back soon!!! Thank you Penny for having us as your guests and we cant wait to see you again very soon! Love Gavin and Rebecca :-)

  • Staying at Penny's was a wonderfully relaxing experience. The apartment is perfect for a getaway. We were both able to shut-off and decompress in the cosy, seclusion of the room, which had everything we needed to make ourselves very comfortable. The apartment is extremely well situation, near to the high street, shops and car parking. It is also possible to find costal, beach and countryside walks right from the bottom of the street or just a short car ride away. Penny was very friendly, welcoming and a pleasure to meet, giving us all the information we needed and making sure we were happy. All in all, a great apartment, host and trip!

Cozy wooden cabin in the heart of Wales set amongst the forests of beautiful Abergwesyn. Great base for adventurers, walkers, bikers and cyclists or as a romantic getaway. Single room wooden 'glamping' cabin with outside under cover kitchen facilities. Separate toilet, sink and hot water shower in nearby barn. The cabin is located near to the owner's cottage, but is very private, and has it's own garden area with space for an extra tent. No other properties are visible from the cabin. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, and must be kept on a lead at all times outside the cabin. As required by the guests Stunning scenery, wildlife, wild swimming, mountain walking or biking, fabulous drives, and starry starry nights. Excellent pub food three miles away. The cabin is rural so a car, bike or bicycles are a necessity. Private parking is available.

  • It was really lovely to stay at Janine's cabin. We had a fire outside the cabin which was wonderful! Janine brought us some welsh cakes when we first arrived. She was very helpful and attentive to our needs. A quiet, idyllic spot!

  • We had a fabulous stay in this beautiful spot of the country. Loved having a fire in the evenings and chilling our beers in the stream. And in case you get cold during the night, there are a lot of blankets and even a hot water bottel in the cabin.

  • Our stay at Janine's cabin was wonderful - we didn't want to leave. It was so cosy and attention to detail (such as the lovely welsh cakes) was fantastic. We went for a long walk to a place where we could wild swim in the river, played board games and cooked on the fire. I would recommend it to anyone and would love to come back!

  • Janine was very welcoming and the cabin is lovely. Yes it is a little basic, but everything is well planned with everything you need - including tea, coffee & sugar. The cabin is cosy and the bed was comfortable and warm. Just add food, wine - (and sunshine if you are lucky) for a wonderfully different experience. Highly recommended.

Step over the threshold and make this your home for the length of your stay. Relax in the colourful spaces within- relish the quirky and lovingly chosen decor. Breath in the clean sweet air. Be soothed by sights and sounds around you- the gentle waterfall you can hear if you sit quietly downstairs. waking in the night to silence or the occasional owl hooting. The scent of log fires greets you as you return from a local walk. This is a 3 bed room terraced cottage in Snowdonia, at the edge of the Lleyn peninsula. It is close to the town of Porthmadog. Located on the A4085- a quiet road - easy access and no problem to find with a satnav. Parking has changed. due to some guest unfortunately misunderstanding instructions I can no longer offer access to the farm yard and must ask guests to park very carefully immediately outside the cottage. there is a line painted around the parking space- if you park outside this you risk being woken at dawn by an angry neighbour beeping their horn, or worse- banging on the door. you also risk having your car damaged (not by the angry neighbour but with a vehicle trying to squeeze past!) If you are in a party with 2 or more cars then the other drivers must park in one of the laybys- about five minutes walk from the cottage- you must contact me for information on this. If any guests park in the farm yard I will have to leave them a negative review. Hopefully in time the farmer will let me use the space again. The house has a good size sitting room with a wood burning stove. I provide a stack of logs each side of the fire place. I leave enough for three nights. It is very important for guests to read the instructions on how to use the wood burner for its benefits to be felt. If you are unsure then please ask. Guests leaving the stove doors open are running a fire risk and also it will not make the stove burn hotter- on the contrary. Extra logs can be bought from the local shop or nearby petrol stations. Two oil filled radiators are provided for back ground heat.Fire blanket, fire extinguisher, first aid kit and torch on shelf next to fire place. Lots of choice books and board games. Children's corner in living room with a little basket of small toys and books. I can provide a travel cot, push chair and highchair on request. There is a small tv with a DVD player and a selection of DVDs- but no TV reception. some people manage to pick up wi-fi- BT if you have it. Well equipped kitchen- electric fan oven, gas burner hob. Micro wave, electric kettle, toaster, cafetiere, fridge-freezer, plenty of utensils...even a rolling pin. Fire blanket next to cooker. Bath room with power shower and deep bath- the water is heated by the stove and gets really hot, there is also an electric emersion heater for summer time. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board and drying rack. shampoo and hand wash provided. all bed linen provided fresh pillow cases, duvet with cover and sheet - all changed for each new set of guests. Towels - provided on request for a surcharge of £15 per booking- ie, regardless of numbers of guests. tea towels provided. The house has three bedrooms. The main one has a double bed and vaulted ceiling- with views across to the mountains. Wardrobe and bedside table with lamp. middle room has a double bed, built in cupboard and bedside cupboard with lamp. The back bed room has twin beds, bedside cabinet and lamp. All beds have 15 tog non -feather duvets, duvet cover, pillow cases, sheets and mattress covers on all the beds. I change the bedding for every new set of guests. Disposable mattress protectors available on request for toddlers who are still getting used to big beds. There is also a blanket each and a hot water bottle for each bed for extra chilly nights- though the radiators should keep you warm. From the front door you can walk to famous horizontal climbing cliffs at Carreg Hyll Drem. Great for bouldering as well. Walk a bit further and follow the river and water falls along the quartz ridge to nearby mountain Cnicht, break your journey at the lovely Croesor cafe with home made cakes, art gallery and wood burning stove. Just up the road, an easy walk, is Brondanw Gardens, family home to Clough Williams Ellis who built Portmerion. There is a great little cafe there that sells crafts. Five minutes drive away are the Tremdog cliffs and the Eric Jones climbers cafe. Lots of cafes - all of them selling decent fresh coffee. A mile or so to the Pont Croesor RSPB Osprey nesting view site. The Osprey nest and breed- (average 3 chicks) between May and late September- they often can be seen from the house- flying home in the evenings. 5 miles away- The Italianate village Portmerion- made famous by the Prisoner and host to arts and music festival "6" in September There are steam train rides at Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways, both running from Porthmadog. Castles- Harlech and Criccieth- both about 9 miles away (in opposite directions) Caernarfon- about 15 miles away. 5 miles from wild beaches. Lakes, rivers and waterfalls within walking distance- perfect for wild swimmers. 15 minutes drive from Coed Y Brenin mountain bike trails. There is a very good pub (Brondanw Arms- known locally as The Ring) that stocks real ales and makes excellent food- a mile up the road- a pleasant walk there and back if you want to have a drink and not take the car. Also a mile away is a well stocked village shop with all you need including fresh veg and lots of local produce. It has a cafe and does a take away meal special each Friday. For bigger shops Porthmadog (5 miles away) has a Lidl, Aldi and Tesco, as well as a deli and a wholefood shop. The house has a good size sitting room with a wood burning stove- fuel provided. Well equipped kitchen. Bath room with power shower. Don't expect wi-fi or TV..phone reception is limited to the upstairs, front bedroom. The local pub and the village shop both have wi-fi. Do expect- glorious sunsets. The sound of a waterfall to lull you to sleep. For a small extra charge (£5) we can provide transport from Penrhyndeudraeth- Cambrian Coastline- station for people wanting to travel without cars-- the train comes direct from Birmingham International. I do need at least 2 weeks notice for this to be arranged. It will depend on my schedule. The house is close to a bus route which links to walks up Snowdon- Sherpa service. We live near by- the house is all to yourselves. Have a look at the Street View..if you twizzle it around you get a sense of the landscape- you can walk for many miles before coming to a reminder of the 21st century. This is the perfect getaway- see what it feels like to have a break from e-smog...free your mind a while. The internet will still be there when you go home.o

  • Fantastic stay in a stunning location. Great walks nearby and cottage very snug and cosy just as described. Thanks Annie!

  • We didn't see Annie in person in the end but that wasn't a problem - clear instructions on the website about how to get there etc and she'd left lovely homemade bara brith (fruit bread), pots of fresh flowers and kindling, firelighters and logs for a fire - very welcoming. Cottage was lovely and cosy, and well stocked with all the things you need to have a happy stay. We loved the area, loads to do, great walks and enjoyed Portmeirion. Definitely want to come back to explore more.

  • We stayed in Annie's cottage in Snowdonia for a long weekend and it was the first time we'd travelled using Airbnb. She was very friendly and helpful, going out of her way to welcome us and share local info (she even drew us a map!). Her cottage is lovely and cosy - we spent the evenings by the fire in the lounge. There's so much to do nearby, we'd planned to go walking but after spending our first day at Coed-y-Brenin forest on the mountain bike trails we were hooked and went back again. The food at the pub up the road (Y Ring) is delicious and we'd definitely recommend giving it a try! The view of the mountains from the lounge and the bedroom is breathtaking. All in all a perfect weekend away and we'd love to stay there again in the future!

  • We had a lovely time at Annie's cottage and would highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area. The cottage was just as described, if not, even more cosy! The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need, the bedrooms nicely made up with lots of spare blankets in case of chilly nights and directions were perfect. I had seen some reviews on here mentioning that the cottage could be a bit chilly. I feel the cold, so was pleasantly surprised at how warm it was, and the nice supply of blankets to wrap up by the fire! Although we were not able to meet Annie, the instructions for the wood burner and supply of logs meant we were able to get a lovely fire going shortly after our arrival. We were only there for 2 nights, but met some of the neighbours and people in the local area who were all so friendly and welcoming. We were also very grateful for the Welsh cakes Annie left when we needed energy climbing up Snowdon! I really hope to visit again.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Artists cottage and wish to thank Annie so much for letting us stay at her wonderful home! Our children absolutely loved the ambience and all the board games. the photos are a true representation of what the property looks like. I can recommend highly the walks around the area - absolutely superb. My children also loved visiting "Bounce Below" which is only a 15 minute drive from the house. Thank you Annie!

    Rudi2013-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks, Annie! The cottage is exactly as described! Although quirky, we found it charming! The fire was so wonderful, and without TV (yeah!), our son played guitar for us while the fire kept us cozy. It was great to have enough beds for all... The Welsh cakes were a hit and the milk was much appreciated! Still can't pronounce the location, but we were happy just the same Thanks much!

  • Our stay at Linzi's house was wonderful. Linzi was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and gave us great restaurant suggestions. The house is in a fantastic location, and immediately felt like home. We couldn't have asked for more. I would definitely recommend staying at Linzi's beautiful home. Thanks again, Linzi!

  • I love the place! Right in the middle of the town.. Perfect. And the noise made by the pub crawlers didn't affect me... Its a wonderful place I would totally recommend anyone to stay here!

  • Excellent location and great value for money. Would definitely use again. The host Linzi was very welcoming

  • Our stay in Linzi's flat was great! The entire place was spotless, with lots of essentials provided. We only stayed one night, but the kitchen had everything you needed if you were staying in town for a while - foil, utensils, coffee, pans - you name it! The flat was warm and really central to venture out and explore Tenby. Bathroom also had lotions, shower gel and fresh towels so you don't have to lug all that much with you. The travel hairdryer in the cupboard also worked a dream on my hair - a feat that most normally can't handle. Tenby is also a lovely place to stay. The beach is really beautiful, the streets are filled with quirky, colourful houses and a variety of eateries to try out. The streets are buzzing with tourists, and with stunning views and historical attractions to check out, it's not hard to see why. This flat is perfect for a couple to stay in - and with so much on the Pembrokeshire coast a short drive away, I can imagine you could stay at Linzi's very comfortably for ages. Linzi's herself is very accommodating, came to meet us when we finally arrived, and was on hand to offer advice on things to do and see in the area. She'd also bought in some milk and a little basket of snacks so you can settle down with a good cuppa when you get in, rather than rush straight out to the supermarket. Thanks so much Linzi!

    Elizabeth2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, close to everything we could possibly need and a five minute walk to those beautiful beaches. Apartment was homely and well-stocked, and communication with Linzi was a breeze. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely flat with everything you need. Very clean throughout with well equipped kitchen and spotless bathroom. Very comfortable bed and loved the minimalist decor with some fab girly touches (great pictures, candles, throws, cushions etc. which all leave a wonderful personal touch). Great place for a getaway with a few friends or for a couple. Secure private off-road parking (via security gates opened with a fob). Caroline has made a real effort to leave instructions in the flat so you know exactly what you need for WiFi, syncing with the Bose speakers etc. and her communication was great in the lead up to and during the stay. Only one tiny thing - even though we had all three electric heaters on it was quite cold under foot in the flat (bring your slippers in the winter as my friend and I went to buy some as our feet were so cold! - and we don't usually feel the cold!) Other than that, everything was perfect. Thanks for a really lovely stay in Cardiff.

    Heinz2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Was left ample coffee and tea (perfect for recovering from the journey) When I win the lottery I am buying that place :)

    Ben2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's apartment is exactly as pictured and described, an impressive space and immaculate throughout. Caroline responded to messages immediately. The apartment is next to a bus stop into town and only took 5-10 minutes. For our first time in Cardiff, this was the perfect place to come back to and relax for the evening. Would definitely stay here again.

Li raccomandiamo! Thanks!

  • The "jungle" was great. From the welcoming coffee, the room with fresh flowers, the recommendations on dining, and sharing a pint, to the fabulous fry very early Sunday morning to meet our travel needs, David and his wife were wonderful hosts. The room was very comfortable, quiet, and close to the city center. We extended our visit to Cardiff to stay here, and are glad we did,.Would definitely stay here again!

  • We needed accommodation for one night as we were going to a party in Cardiff, and this was perfect. If you stay in a hotel in Cardiff you usually have to pay extra for parking, which isn't even on site. Here we had on street parking and were only a 10 min. walk from the party venue. The house itself is an interesting mix of Victorian/Oriental. We received a warm welcome from Yan followed by coffee and conversation in the lovely kitchen. Our room was large, and although not quite en-suite, the shower room was spacious. Breakfast was a bonus, and there was fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, breads, preserves and the offer of cooked if required. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet David, or to explore the exotic looking garden (due to rain & hail) but maybe we will another time, because if we need an overnight stay in Cardiff again this is where we will go.

    Gail2013-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • David was the most delightful host, sharing tales about his travels around the world over a cup of delicious coffee from their pro-machine. The room is great, with a fantastic bathroom with lots of natural light and a rain shower. Yummy breakfast included too. Highly recommended. We hope to be back.

  • We had a great stay with Yan, lovely house and great breakfast! Thanks!

    Bettina2015-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars for David and his wonderfull wife Yan! I stayed there with my girlfriend for two nights an we loved it! We didn't meet David, which was a pity, but his wife did everything to make us feel at home. We felt not treated as strangers, not even as guests, but as friends. Thanks for that! Their house is lovely. You will like the asian furniture and the many plants (especially in your own bathroom). The house is approx. 12 walking minutes away from downtown Cardiff. Pubs and nice Indian restaurants ar even closer. David and Yan gave us good advice on where to go, Yan even drove us downtown on the first day. If you want to visit Cardiff, look no further. You cannot find a better accomodation.

    Björn2013-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Such a warm welcome from Yan, David's wife. Breakfast was a very welcome addition - not something I have expected or experienced in any other airbnb stays. Clean, comfortable and relaxed stay in a lovely house in a perfect location.

  • Martyn and his sister's hospitality was unmatched. Martyn met us at the railway station and cycled with us to the house. When my mother struggled towards the end, he went ahead and took his van and gave my mum a ride to the house. We felt very welcomed and comfortable during our stay. Whatever questions we had, Martyn and his sister answered them. On our last day, they let us store our bikes in the shed so that we could go and hike in Brecon Beacons. He also was great in recommending places to see and routes to take. The surroundings were amazingly beautiful. It is an ideal place for those who want to relax and feel at home in nature. Thank you for everything again!

  • I love the hosts and their demeanour. Place is so spacious and nice, it can manage a group of 8 to 10 people of a joint family program.

    Mirza Fazal2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Well to start off, one of the best Airbnb experiences I ever had. The hosts are lovely people, specially can't thank Elizabeth and Martyn enough for their impeccable hospitality. Elizabeth stayed up late to show us in and to ensure that we are at home. Martyn went off the way and helped us in planning our vacation very well. His custom made tour ' Batman does mines, mountains and waterfalls' is one of the best ways to have a significant look at good places and have out of the way experiences around south wales. Please do ask him for details. :) The farm house was perfect, the rooms were big and airy, the linens were clean, the kitchen had all the stuff that we needed. The dining and living rooms were warm and cosy and perfect for the group to sit back and relax at the end of a tiresome day out roaming. The special bit obviously would be the stargazing. We arrived at a night when the sky was clear and we have never seen so much stars in our entire lives, it was a wonderful experience. All in all, if you are in South Wales you should not think twice before booking this. Thanks Elizabeth and Martyn for such a lovely stay! Best wishes, Rahit

A cozy attic room in an older house with plenty of character. located in a 'cool' neighbourhood. Very close to everything in Cardiff - 5 minutes walk from the bus and train stations, the city centre, Cardiff Castle etc. A comfortable double futon + up to 2 single beds available. The room is up a wooden stair-ladder so you do need to be a bit 'fit', but is peaceful and private, away from the rest of the house. We'll make you feel very welcome, and ensure your stay in Cardiff an enjoyable one.
This attic room is very peaceful, with a view out over the city rooftops to Cardiff Castle, the rugby stadium, and the city centre. It has a comfortable double futon and a single bed (with option for another bed and possibly a foam mattress on the floor), so is suitable for a couple plus 1, 2, or 3 single people. Use of kitchen, and back garden. Fast wi-fi, city centre maps, guide books etc. available Je parle francais - y hablo espanol tambien. My Welsh isn't so good, though!
Riverside is a friendly multicultural community with plenty of character and some great local bars and cafes. There is a farmers market (which I started many years ago) every Sunday morning very close to my house, selling excellent fresh local Welsh food of all kinds. It's a great place to meet people

  • Great place. Very central, close to everything. Hosts were very welcoming despite us being awful with the key and timings late at night. Couldn't recommend it any higher but just watch out for ladder up to the loft itself! Was totally fine for us but no good for those with a mobility issue. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Host: Great communication / very friendly / easy-going (didn't mind us getting back late in the evening, full of ale). Location: Terrific! We came to Cardiff for the rugby, and were only a few minutes walk form the stadium. Seemed even closer than what we expected. Accommodation: Clean / tidy / comfy / cosy. Communication: Sorting details out with Steve was very easy. Even when we were nipping back in & out of the house he was happy to answer any questions and go over any details, such as: arrival/ times for check in/out, parking, keys, etc. Cost: Fantastic price, especially when compared to hostels on rugby days(URL HIDDEN)The 3 of us had a great time & would definitely stay again.

    Reece2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Steve is really nice and gave us advice on places to go and restaurants to eat. He also told us how to get to the airport. The house is in the central area and close to places of interest. The ladder is quite surprising. Thanks a lot and welcome to China one day:)

  • Enjoyed a wonderful weekend stay at the Wendy with my wife and 12 y/o son! We loved the outstanding views and the easy access to the coastal path. We found the Wendy very charming and look forward to staying again in the future. I did not hear my 12 y/o complain once over the weekend, so it was an aboslute success!! The only negative of the weekend was the Welsh Cakes that were waiting for us upon arrival. I had never had a Welsh Cake before and now I am absolutely hooked on them!!! :)

  • We had a fabulous time at the Wendy! We were blown away with the beautiful train carriage, the interior was so lovely with a lot of attention to detail and vintage touches. We were very warm and cosy and loved the log burner in the lounge. The kitchen had everything we needed and enjoyed breakfast on the veranda admiring the incredible view. Greg made us feel very welcome - thanks for such an enjoyable stay! Will definitely be returning to Wendy.

  • Just brilliant.

  • Wendy is a dream. Beautifully renovated and perfectly positioned - although avoid bringing too much heavy luggage as it is quite a walk from the car park - on a stunning cliff. She is fully equipped and has serious charm. We loved her!

  • What an amazing place to stay, everything was provided and directions clear and understandable even when arriving in the dark! Wendy was a great place to stay and we loved having all of our meals outside looking at the views! Was a great get away from London life and would 100% visit again.

  • The inside of the carriage is amazing, it's a really cosy place to spend a few nights. The views are great & it's really easy to walk along the coast path from the house. Well worth a visit.

  • We had a great stay in Greg's gorgeous railway cabin! The views are incredible and our two dogs (Golden Retrievers) just loved the attention from walkers and other four-legged friends passing by on the coastal path. The cabin was super cosy inside on cold Easter nights - we had the fire on and Scrabble out with the sea views out the window... absolute bliss!

  • Staying here is a very unique experience with a bit of off-grid feeling to it. Fireplace makes a great atmosphere and Jenny is very friendly. Bed isn't too comfy, not being flat, but we had a good night sleep nevertheless.

  • The hosts are lovely and friendly and the cottage was exactly what we expected. We went up Snowden and on beach walks in Anglesey and also went on a bit of a pub crawl in Bethesda. It was a great weekend getaway and we would definitely recommend it.

  • We had a lovely time at Julie's secluded snowdonia lodge. It was a cold weekend but the place was snug & warm. We were immediately made to feel welcome by fellow mancunians Julie & her husband & the cats who offered us lots of local travel tips & eating recommendations! The place was immaculate, well located and stocked up with bread, milk & welsh cakes - oh and not to forget the electric blanket this was a huge bonus this time of year! Big thanks to you both we will be back.

    Rachel2014-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Geoff were the perfect hosts! So welcoming and friendly. The added of bonus of scrummy welsh cakes, all your kitchen essentials...a seriously comfy bed... All in wonderful, tranquil surroundings! Wouldn't have changed anything. Maybe just the fact that we had to leave and go to work on Monday!

    Kate2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here the night before we climbed Snowdon. Julie and her husband were great hosts! The bread and welsh cakes on arrival helped boost our energy levels for the climb

  • Everything you need for a convenient quiet peaceful break. Julie made a sincere effort to make us feel welcome and our stay comfortable including leaving us a kitchen full of products like bread, milk, eggs, coffee, tea and even fresh flowers. A nice unexpected surprise. Wifi reception was weak, but Julie was kind enough to offer us to come into the house and use the internet. The place has a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. The room size was fine for us (a (URL HIDDEN) is not fancy, but fully equipped with everything you can think of, and more: kitchen appliances, HiFi, DVD player, music disc, table games, maps, books, leaflets and even a binoculars. • Really lovely, peaceful stay for me, my two friends, and their 6 month old baby. There was plenty of room in the master bedroom for a travel cot - and Brigid even appeared at exactly the right time to help us muppets put it up! The place is beautifully clean and well-equipped - we cooked dinner and breakfast, with no difficulty at all. I was in the little room with bunkbeds, which still had room for cases etc. The bathroom was a good size, and there is a comfortable lounge area - with views over a garden area and some old stone buildings. It was so quiet and we slept like logs! The only challenge is finding the place - especially at night! But Brigid's directions are very good - follow them to the letter, and instruct taxi drivers closely.

    Naiomi2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Cartshed was beautifully secluded, quiet and immaculately clean. Brigid was friendly and so helpful prior to and during our stay. The apartment was spacious and had all we needed for a short stay.

  • Absolutely amazing place. I just wish I could have stayed longer than one night. Inside is immaculate and beautiful. Everything you need and beautiful area. Massive grounds for children to play in and such lovely hosts. Loved also all the herbal tea infusions provided. I will definitely be coming back and for longer!

  • Brigid's place was lovely and just perfect for a short or long stay. Great extra room with bunk beds for children old or young also. The Cartshed was very inviting from the moment we arrived and the underfloor heating made a real difference. Everything was spotless. Only met Brigid briefly as we were leaving but as the Cartshed is separate from the house, you can be very independent. Highly recommended.

Grand Designs Eco home award winner 2008, Quiet Earth Retreat is a two storey loadbearing straw bale house (first in the UK). A luxurious off grid home, offering a truly sustainable experience in a very beautiful and quiet haven. Situated in St Dogmaels on a woodland hilltop overlooking breath taking views of the Cardigan estuary and close to local beaches and the Pembrokeshire coastal footpath. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the many gifts of this place.
This straw bale eco retreat home was self built between 2003-05 and generated much attention due to it's unique nature. Please read the full description before booking! It is a beautiful peaceful retreat centre, offering special time to relax in an untouched woodland upon a hill overlooking spectacular views of the Teifi estuary. There are various idyllic beaches within a couple of miles of here and many inspiring walks. We are two miles from the start of the Pembrokeshire coastal path. It is also an off grid home, powered by the sun and the wind and this is one of it's important features, giving one the opportunity to experience living with the elements and being powered by them. Low energy appliances may be used with awareness such as occasional laptops etc. (no hairdryers/ straighteners!) The Nature of this place does invite the visitor to just enjoy being switched off for a while and to enjoy the gifts of the environment. Downstairs you will find a large open plan kitchen and living room with a wood stove which heats the whole house. There is a downstairs bathroom in a rounded stone turret with sunken bath and rain water harvested toilet. Water is solar heated and back boiler heated in the winter. The house offers a long conservatory to enjoy the views. We have 3 delightful and gentle cats here in the house and then daphne the dog who will be with us in the eco lodge close by. We can arrange at times for the cats to be out of the house and use the conservatory for short periods. If you have serious cat allergies however this may not be for you. Upstairs is a large open plan room which offers itself as a luxury bedroom and studio for a couple or a space for family or a retreat space for a group of up to 8- 10 with low futon style beds. We have also now opened up the large beautiful attic bedroom as an extra with a double mattress and space for more. This is accessible by ladder. In the warmer months there is extra camping space in the woodland and a self contained eco lodge too. The woodland is terraced, with paths for visitors to explore and we are currently developing a forest garden. We also encourage artists and writers in residence to spend time here working in a natural and supportive environment on a project. We can offer subsidy for this also at times. Please note; this is a natural straw bale/ clay built home and we hire a wonderful cleaner to scrub the place... it will never be a bleached holiday home but it is clean by nature's standards and we use no chemicals in the process.. There are also spiders and insects as we live in a woodland...!
The beauty of this place is all that Nature has to offer along with the gifts of many of the creative people living in the nearby village and surrounding area. There are many circular walks for which we can give directions. We are situated at the beginning of the pembrokeshire coastal path and close to an array of stunning beaches. Our local beaches Poppit and Mwnt have regular sitings of bottle nosed dolphins and seals. Cardigan town is a few miles away along the estuary and offers shops, restaurants, theatre, cinema, spa and a heritage centre. In the heart of the village is a ruined Abbey, a visitors centre and cafe. The village offers a good few pubs along the river, a wonderful deli with homemade produce and cafe. We encourage guests to visit our local produce markets and organic market gardens. Most foods can be bought locally. The gift of this home is that it is secluded in a woodland and yet a walking distance to the village estuary and beaches.
  • We had a fabulous stay there, very inspiring place to be! Its a little short walk to the place, so travelling light there is recommended. Rachel made us feel welcome and made sure we found our way there ok. A real experience of how to live beautifully in harmony with nature.

  • Rachel is a wonderful host and my Fiancé & I had the most tranquil stay at Quiet Earth and came away feeling so energised - I have not slept so well in a long time! We had lots planned for our first day however we were enjoying the peace and magic that Quiet Earth had to offer we didn't leave! On our second day we went to Mwnt Beach (only very short drive away!) which is a truly spectacular place and we ended our day with a pub dinner at the The Stackpole Inn which is only a short walk away and is a terrific pub! On our final day we went Mountain biking at Llys y Frân Country Park & Reservoir which is approx 20 minute drive away and afterwards we had a lovely walk to poppit sands beach. We had a very special stay at Quiet Earth and it was such an enjoyable experience - I cannot recommend this beautiful place enough! Rachel - it was so lovely meeting you, thank you for sharing your special home. Warm Wishes, Katy & Tom :-)

  • Rachel is a great host. The property is quirky and memorable. It offered all we required for a weeks stay. There is no television and this is great as the children found many other things to keep them occupied - board games, music and lots more. The local area is fabulous. Lots to do. Great eating out. Great beaches.

A beautiful home up in the trees with a lovely view of the village. Great for a chilled family getaway or group of friends. Thanks Rachel!

  • We had an amazing stay in Rachel's beautiful home. We had never stayed anywhere like it before and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience nature in all it's raw beauty and also wanting a proper off grid experience. The house is very comfortable and spacious and the super friendly cats add to the sense of welcome. Rachel is an excellent hostess. Discrete but thoughtful and full of wisdom and insight. To stay in the house that she visioned and created is a once in a lifetime experience that I would recommend to all those wanting to get back to the heart of what's important.

The Airy Attic room is a large modern-looking room, in a typical, Victorian town house, which is stylistically 'shabby chic'. It features a double bed for two. Enjoy freshly laundered pure white cotton sheets and pillowcases. Quirky family house, within walking distance to city centre, plenty of buses, great tasty breakfast (organic whenever possible), free wireless internet, fun landlady, and quiet street. We provide a good breakfast in the morning including tea, coffee, fruit, granola and oats, or toast and jam, peanut butter, etc. The home is on a tree-lined street close to parks and the city-centre. There is an enormous and open park a short walk away with the river running through it. There are many food options all within walking distance. There is a lovely gastropub opposite our home that is great for drinks and dinner. There is an excellent Indian restaurant close, an American diner, a Lebanese and a Thai place close as well. There are 2 cats roaming the kitchen & sitting room so please let me know if you are allergic. They are not allowed in the bedrooms. Cardiff being flat is great for cycling and there are bike hire places locally. We have quite a few maps of Cardiff that you can use. I have a great knowledge of the area and can help print out directions or even call you a cab to get to wherever you want to go.
    Friendly, mixed 'villagey' atmosphere.
  • Carloline was a warm and welcoming host; with a comfortable room on a quiet street that's conveniently located across the road from a good gastro pub.

  • This was my second time staying with Caroline. She is a very gracious host and the location is within walking distance to the city center. The attic room is large, comfortable, and private. I plan on returning in the near future. I highly recommend staying here.

    David2014-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is great! She very welcoming and the room is very comfortable. Great place to stay in Cardiff

    Katrina2013-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • My Japanese niece stayed with Caroline for 5 nights and really enjoyed her time there and felt very welcome throughout. Despite having a low level of English proficiency, she found Caroline very easy to talk to. As a cat lover, she was also happy to be able to share her room with the two family cats!

    Marion2015-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • All very satisfactory

    Alison2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's home was lovely. She is an incredibly hospitable host and goes the extra mile to make the guest feel at home. The attic is exactly as shown in pictures and Caroline gives good suggestions about things to do in Cardiff. Highly recommended!

    Emma2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is so very welcoming - she immediately made me feel at ease. The room had everything I needed and she provides a lovely breakfast with great fresh coffee. It was just a flying visit for me as I was in Cardiff for work, but I'd have gladly stayed longer. I'd happily recommend Caroline's place.

    Philippa2017-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is very nice, but the stairs to the attic are steep! Be prepared for that. If you cannot handle the stairs, she does have a downstairs room that other people were staying in. She was very hospitable and even cooked us breakfast in the morning.

My place is close to RHAYADER and THE ELAN VALLEY also ajoining THE GILFACH NATURE RESERVE. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the peacefulness of been able to have the freedon to walk and explore our hills of mid wales, straight from your door..and only 45 mins to visit the seaside of Aberystwth.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
..PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE THE HOT TUB in advance of booking your holiday ...as due to the high demand on the hot tubs, i would need to make sure there is one available for you... so i must know prior to you booking ..Thank you x.....................The Hide Away Ranch is a unique and very fortunate place, it is situated in its own 400 acres of magnificent views overlooking the wye valley, it has been stated its like been on "top of the world" it rises up to 1400 ft on the tops, with amazing views, walks and rides, ideal for star gazing in the evenings and watching the sun setting over the rolling hills, while the wildlife is active all around you. You can ramble around the hills at your leisure finding all the sources of the lovely little steams which trickle down through our countryside., where many moons ago the pilgrims would walk to the source of these lovely crystal streams, to collect the so said" holy water" in the pilgrims ampullae. We have been very lucky in finding one ..Then to take the water back to heel sick people from their ailments. We are also neighbouring our local nature reserve, which has got nature trials and all the information about our native wildlife in our area, they also do childrens activities if you log on to the Gilfach Nature Reserve. You are welcome to bring your own mountain bikes, motor bikes, off road vehicles or even your horse, where you can go and enjoy the stunning views at your own leisure, or if you just want to chill, and sit out on the veranda with your glass of wine!! to watch the magnificent birds and wildlife go about their very busy lives. you are now, also able to hire a hot tub if you so desired at an extra cost from a little company in our local market town, they come out the day before you arrive set it all up for you to jump in on your arrival ..Please note.... the hideaway ranch is situated in the beautiful, countryside, there is no wi fi and you may find your phone signals are limited in areas, but the best of it is that you only need to go 10 mins down the road and you are back into (URL HIDDEN) you have the best of both worlds.. From today 5/5 /17 we are now very privileged to announce that our "Hide Away House" is now also up and running so we are now able to sleep parties of up to 16 people between the two dwellings ..
Rhayader in Mid Wales we think is an unfound area, with having the stunning dams of the Elan Valley, where you can go pony treking, mountain biking, walking, fishing, canoeing off roading nature trials and activities for the children to learn about the countrysides of mid wales .. watch the red kites feeding without the hustle and bustle of too many people.. Its a must to visit place, with the very quaint 1600 c country inns for those lovely traditional welsh ales with the much tradtitonal Welsh Black Steaks enjoy xx
  • Thank you Suzie! We had an amazing break in your beautiful chalet. It was cozy, clean and full of charm. Kids loved it and it was great to get away. You were most helpful. Will definitely visit again for longer next time.

  • We have just back from our stay at Suzie's place. The house is spacious, comfortable, clean and has everything what you need. Beautiful walks start straight from the door step. The view from the porch is just breathtaking. Suzie is a great host and she makes you feel well welcomed and taken care of. Well recommend place for a lovely stay. Thank you.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. It's very secluded so if you don't like it to be to peaceful then I wouldn't recommend, but it was perfect for what we wanted. We took my 4 year old nephew who loved every minute. The lodge is cosy but plenty of space, the walks around the lodge are lovely. Also Elan Valley is close by in the car which is well worth a visit.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Suzie's cottage. The cottage is very cosy, clean and has all ameneties you need. It is in a very quiet area, a bit remote from everything else, but that was very welcome after all the hustle and bustle in London. You can easily make all sorts of walks directly from the house or the taxi can leave you at the Elan Valley for a few pounds. Suzie was the best host ever!!!! She took care of us and made sure everything was all right, really an extraordinary person!! Thank you very much for everything again Suzie.

Self-catering cottage in a small quiet Wye Valley village in in the hills above Monmouth. Set in 6 acres of woodland and hidden gardens. Large bedroom with king & single bed, lounge with log burner, TV & WiFi. Stunning large spa room with sauna, shower, jacuzzi & small toilet room. Kitchen with induction hob, grill and fan oven, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer , separate bathroom with toilet.
The cottage is very spacious and could hold many guests however it is configured for two or 3 . The very large spa room holds the double jacuzzi, sauna and shower and so provides a private luxury chill-out area. The large bedroom, lounge, kitchen, hall and toilet all have underfloor heating whereas the spa room has radiators. The modern TV has a built-in DVD player and some DVD's are available to view. We have now put a dedicated BT wi-fi router in the lounge.
Whitebrook is a quiet unspoiled valley with the brook running down into the River Wye which lies at the foot of the valley about a mile or so from the house. There are walks everywhere either on the doorstep or further afield. Local attractions include Clearwell Caves, The Big Pit (Coal Mining Pit & Museum) and the Wye itself for canoeing etc. See our guidebook for further activities. A map of the local area is provided.
  • We had a fantastic weekend in this unique and cosy cottage. It truly is a home from home. Clive is a great host. The jacuzzi and sauna are an added bonus!

  • What a find. We love the Wye valley and were looking for just a one night break away to celebrate a wedding anniversary. 5 springs was exactly what we were looking for. Lovely anexe to a house hidden away in a beautiflul quiet location close to Monmouth. The accommodation was superb. We especially enjoyed the bathroom which was huge and offered a double jaccuzi bath and sauna. Everything was as promised and our hosts finishing touches made the event extra special. We will definately be back. Many thanks to Clive and Katalin.

Perfect rural getaway for 2. Light, spacious barn conversion, oak flooring, big shower, cosy wood stove in double height lounge. A mix of exposed beams & contemporary styling with fabulous bedroom views from super-king zip-link bed. Unspoilt countryside offers great walking/biking/wild swimming/castles. Characterful local market towns - Ludlow, Montgomery, and Bishops Castle. Private decking for sundowners. One well behaved dog by prior agreement only, if kept downstairs and off the furniture!
Blue Barn Cottage combines exposed beams with a contemporary feel, it's a simple, clear space, airy and yet cosy. The double height sitting room is light and has great acoustics. The view from the bedroom is spectacular - you can look out at the hills and the night sky through a huge triangular gable end window while you lie in bed. The new super king Zip link bed can be made up as two singles with advance notice.
A beautiful upland area with fantastic views and walks, great birdwatching, starry dark skies. Friendly down to earth locals, very few tourists. The Marches is a well kept secret. Fantastic castles and cafes, arty market town Bishops Castle 6 miles, Michelin starred restaurant The Checkers 10 mins away if you want to spoil yourselves. Tours of local Kerry Vineyard. You can hire canoes on the river nearby and look for otters and kingfishers!
  • Had a wonderful time staying in the blue barn cottage. Sian is a lovely host, more than welcoming and provided such a homely place to stay. The place is even more beautiful in person and there are so many great things so see near by. Couldn't recommend this place more, I had the best time staying here.

    natasha2014-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sian's place was really nice. We enjoyed exploring the local areas and going for some lovely walks. Ideal for a quiet getaway and to take in the Welsh countryside. All of the information left for us was really useful and we had great communication prior to our arrival.

    William2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning property which was exactly what we needed for relaxation and hiking. The barn is very aesthetic, the view from the bedroom window even better than the photos! Walking on the local hills (Roundton, Corndon, Mitchells Fold Stone Circle) give views as good as the more popular Stipertones and Long Mynd, and are practically deserted! Sian gave very helpful local advice.

    Janet2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place didn't disappoint. Great walks nearby, and accommodation isn't done justice from the pics on the site.

    Andrew2014-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, nice views and well equipped. The Blue Barn was exactly as shown in pictures. We really enjoyed staying there and enjoyed the wood-burner very much. Sean was very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

    Wanapat2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here in October and were a little apprehensive about the weather, but in fact we had really good weather all through our stay so we were able to take advantage of many of the walking and sightseeing opportunities presented by the area. After days out on the Longmynd and the Wrekin and trips to Ludlow and Shrewsbury, we came back to the very comfortable cottage, lit the wood burner and cooked a nice meal in the well-equipped kitchen. We became virtual locals at the Miners' Arms down the road! The views from the bedroom were stunning. Sian was a very friendly but unobtrusive host, who gave us good advice and provided some very useful maps and guide books. We would have no hesitation in recommending Blue Barn to other AirBnBers.

    Andrew2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sian’s cottage was so lovely! We didn’t actually meet Sian but met the co-host Ian who was very friendly. The cottage was clean and provided the essentials we needed: herbs, spices, tea bags, coffee and a pint of milk. The bedroom had a massive bed, and the views from the window were spectacular. The surrounding area was quiet with some very quaint towns and villages nearby. Co-op is just down the road, with a butchers and some other stores, which was very handy . We had a really lovely stay! Thank you!

  • We were looking for a quiet out of the way stay between 2 legs of some major sightseeing. This fit the bill perfectly. It is a very large space with a sitting room and a large bathroom. The view out of the Windows both front and back all zzz was lovely. There was an excellent quite modern resta2 nearby. We had a choice of cereals and toast for breakfast. We would stay there again.

  • Beautiful cabin, set in a gorgeous location. The cabin is set up with everything you need and more for a relaxing break. Meredith is an accommodating and welcoming host. We stayed with our two dogs who very much enjoyed walks in the surrounding woodland. We all can't wait to return.

  • Absolutely stunning and beautifully placed with views across the countryside. Hospitality from the host was exceptional and made us feel welcomed from start to end. The lodge itself has everything you need and we specifically liked the cosy log fire and hot tub. We stayed as a family of three plus our four legged friend and Mez let us know that we were free to walk anywhere on the land and recommended some walks for the dog but unfortunately we didn't have the best weather so didn't go exploring, we did however have a stroll to meet the horses and peacocks which kept our boy and dog entertained for a while. Highly recommended and definitely a place we are keen to visit again.

  • Had a wonderful time at Pengelli Farm For my 28th birthday. Mez was super amazing and helped out even when I accidentally left my keys in the ignition and ran the battery down on my car!! The hot tub was beautiful and the scenery was so spectacular. The lodge has all the mod cons and the welsh cakes on arrival were beautiful. Would highly reccomend :)

  • Went to celebrate my partners 24th birthday here for 2 nights and absolutely fell in love with this beautiful lodge. Mez was so welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived until the morning we left. He provided a bottle of wine and Welsh cakes on arrival which was a great touch and lovely to be greeted with after a long drive. The view from the lodge is absolutely breathtaking and we really felt like we were in a world of our own. It's so secluded and private it really does feel like a home away from home. The log burner was my favourite feature in the lodge and it was so nice to sit in front of it with a glass of wine and just relax. It heats the whole lodge extremely well. The bed was so comfortable I almost didn't want to get up the first morning and just stay there all weekend. The lodge also has full cooking facilities and utensils along with other essentials (milk, tea, coffee, iron, Netflix etc.) and the hot tub just makes it an experience to remember. Me and my partner spent hours just lounging in the hot tub star gazing and it was just perfect. The walk that Mez suggested to us through the forest and river was gorgeous, although we did get manage to get ourselves stuck in a bog after misreading the map. Also a visit to the horses is a must, they're so approachable and extremely friendly. For anyone visiting I suggest a trip to The Brunant Arms, a very friendly pub with great atmosphere and even better food with a log fire to keep warm. I could not recommend this place enough, it has left such an impression on us we are already looking at when we can go back. Mez you are a true gentleman and I look forward to seeing you again.

  • Me and my wife had an amazing stay in merediths cabin. We were staying over for my wife's birthday which i confirned to meredith before the trip so he surprised us with a birthday cake and some Welsh cakes. He is so welcoming and the cabin is better than the pics give credit. We spent the night in front of the burning log fire, then spent some time star gazing from the hot tub. Such a perfect break. Merediths farm is secluded which is exactly what we wanted but it's worth baring in mind and I'd suggest bringing food & drink with you so you can just spend more time in the amazing cabin.

    Daniel2016-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay started with a fantastic welcome, making us feel relaxed and at home. The lodge itself was as described, clean, comfortable with amazing views. The hot tub was an added bonus that all three of us loved. We all wished we'd stayed longer!

A truly unique place to stay. The Jetstar is a first class plane that would have carried up to nine passengers. Built in the seventies it retains a most of the original features including a lit up bar area. It appears to have crash landed and on the back is a double bedroom in the style of a first class ships cabin. There is a loo and cold water basin on board the plane and the cockpit has an xbox with some flight games. There is a well equiped shower block on site with hot showers and fridges
The cabin consists of double bed, there is a single bed behind the cockpit but this is only 5'7" or 170 cm which is fine for a lot of adults but not all. There is also a leather sofa on the plane which is 6'4". It may well be suited more for a couple or two adults and two children. There is a loo on board and cold water only sink for brushing teeth etc. The cabin and the cockpit are powered by mains electricity however the fuselage has the planes original lighting and is powered by car batteries and should be used economically. However there is a double plug with usb ports which lamps can be plugged in. A blue tooth compatible CD and radio is mounted in the main fuselage.
South Pembrokeshire is popular in holiday seasons as it has so many great sandy beaches and clear sea. This campsite is away from the crowds, in a quiet rural area with fields, farms and country houses. It's easily accessed by a lane or two from the road to Tenby. South Pembrokeshire is popular for visitors and holiday makers, in season the towns can be busy but our site is like a retreat. Lots to do for children, activites and adventure theme parks are close by. Great for history buffs with Castles and historical places of interest dotted around. If you like hiking, the Wales Coast Path offers great walks and views.
  • Have to say this is one of the best locations we have found on air bnb so far. Toby was a great host, very helpful and the accomodation and location are amazing and so unique. We will be looking to book again. Its a 5 star experience.

    Darren2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Just a brilliant experience! The airplane is so much fun! The bed is comfortable, the loo useable, with cold water. Everything else you might need ( kettle, cutlery, china etc together with a few basic provisions available to buy) is approx 100 yards across the campsite. Decent heated shower room and fridges too. Tenby is approx 10 mins away by car. Just great!

  • The Jetstar is one of the most unique places I have ever stayed in and I loved it! The camp as a whole was clean and quiet, and the facilities were great. Toby wasn't there but Wolfgang was incredibly friendly and he went above and beyond when we were unable to get a taxi into Tenby by giving us a lift. Can not recommend Apple Camping highly enough and would happily come back!

  • The Jet Star is definitely one of the most unique glamping experiences available in the UK. I booked for my partners birthday as a surprise and Toby and family made it extra special. Communication before the visit was quick, clear and helpful. On the day Phil was very welcoming and showed us around the site. The facilities are very luxurious and kept to a very high standard. Phil also showed us around the accommodation and explained the history behind the Jet Star. This is a must see for any aviation enthusiasts! All the original features have been kept just the way they were in the 1970s. We had our dinner around a campfire and a lovely sleep in the comfortable king size bed. Looking forward to the UFO themed accommodation and can't wait to rebook with the rest of the family. We would highly Apple Camping to everyone. Thanks again Phil and Toby!

    Amy2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in the jet, loved the features inside, cock was awesome with my lads playing xbox ,took some amazing photos. Comfortable although maybe 1 night would have been enough for us as we were 5. Good fun though! This place has a small kitchen outside to cook food. You;ll love this place.

    Anthony2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really fun stay in an old unusual vehicle. Perfect for a couple but tight fit for 4 people as the cabin is small. We stayed for 1 night which was fine. Toby seemed a great host & enthusiastic about his venture. The facilities are adequate and the site is small and well kept. The Jet is a fun and interesting place to stay but don't expect a luxurious or polished let as I'd say this is more for the experience and the Jet is an old, albeit original, place to stay. My 12yr old loved the cockpit with all the controls & Xbox!

A luxurious and romantic separate accommodation for two in a stunning riverside location. Spectacular waterfall view. • We spent a lovely two days here. A cosy cottage with everything you need in a beautiful setting. Great hosts too

  • Spent a lovely week at the apartment, very peaceful and a lovely place to unwind and forget about work. The apartment was comfortable clean and we were looked after very well. We wanted for nothing and anything we thought we may need was supplied without hesitation. Jacqui was an amazing host thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Les2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect experience - was lovely to meet Jacqui at the beginning of our stay; she made us feel very welcome. She also recommended a book that described some walking routes around the area - we used it and had the most amazing day trekking around the Beacons. Met some friendly sheep and ponies. The apartment was clean, in a great location and with all the bits and bobs we needed. The river running outside is idyllic. We want to come back soon - thanks for everything!

  • We stayed at this wonderful place and we couldn't have asked for more. The village is beautiful, the apartment is idyllic, and Jacqui and John are perfect hosts, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It really is as great it looks in the photos. Llangynidr (you'll be able to pronounce it by the end!) is nice and quiet, well located and only a few miles to Brecon, Crickhowell and plenty of other towns. Whether you are looking for a relaxing retreat in peaceful surroundings or to challenge yourself with the many treks around the Brecon Beacons, this place offers the perfect way to do either. We highly recommend staying here and if you like dogs, you will love Albus. Peter and Helen

  • This lovely little place was exactly as advertised and Jacqui was a perfect host. We were very well placed to explore the Beacons and the surroundings and then return for a wonderful meal at the pub 5 minutes wander away. It was also very pleasant to wake up to the babbling of the brook right on our doorstep and breakfast overlooking it. Would thoroughly recommend.

  • Just back from a fantastic 3 night stay at Riversounds cottage. The cottage is very cosy and everything you could want for ga quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The sounds and views of the river were the icing on the cake, we loved it. We received some great tips from Jacqui on exploring the area and we went off in the car on the Saturday to climb Pen Y Fan and on foot on the Sunday - with a lovely relaxing 18km walk along the canal. Jacqui is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. The continental breakfast was a lovely touch, as was the extra firewood - we had great weather, but couldn't resist lighting the fire in the evenings. We will definitely be returning, the cottage is ideally located for a quiet weekend away, but close enough to explore all that the Brecon area has to offer. We loved Wales, it is beautiful, but one weekend is just not enough.

  • This apartment is just perfect! And I can hardly add to the already glowing reviews. Jacqui and John are wonderful hosts and made us feel utterly at home (as did their adorable dog, Albus). Thanks to them both, we had the most relaxing stay in Llangynidr, which is ideally located for hiking. This property is the perfect choice for an escape to the country and the free-standing bath and wood-burner are an absolute treat after a day in the Beacons. The breakfast is also delicious. Jacqui made sure to provide us with a whole selection of delights and made sure we were never even close to running out of food. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony during our trip and I don't think I can imagine a better place to drink my morning coffee! The balcony also makes a great spot for stargazing, too. Do not hesitate to book this apartment! We will be back for sure. Really cannot recommend enough.

  • We had a brilliant time at Jacqui and John's riverside apartment. The apartment itself is lovely, very cosy & it's clear a lot of effort has gone into making it nice for guests. The log-burning stove is a real bonus! The bed is also very comfortable, which was great after all the walking we did (Tor-y-foel and the Brecon canal are on the doorstep & the apartment is perfect for Hay excursions). Jacqui welcomed us to the property, showed us round & left an abundance of goodies for breakfast. She and John were easily contactable, and responsive on Airbnb (be aware you may not have phone reception, but there is wifi). We felt very much at ease & having Albus to welcome us at all times was excellent! (Albus = lovely big black dog). Thanks for the lovely stay - we'd definitely return and would recommend to others.

  • Debra was a great host, and Cabin Bach was the perfect venue for myself, wife and our dog. Saundersfoot is a lovely place to visit, some cracking coastal path walks and restaurants nearby too. 10 out of 10!

  • Everything we hoped for! Lovely caban and private garden, just a few mins walk from beach and spectacular coastline walks. Can't wait to re-visit. Thank you Debra!

  • Caban Bach was the perfect retreat for our lovely little family holiday. Debra even provided a toddler bed, toys and games, dress up clothes and dolls as well as buckets and spades for our daughter to play with. Caban Bach is very cosy and much bigger than we expected, being very private from the main house. The garden has decking, a BBQ and ample space for a kick around. Saundersfoot harbor and beach are a short walk away. The free use of spa, sauna and pool were a bonus too. We only saw Debra once or twice and she was so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning in future.

  • We had a great time at the Caban bach. It was light and airy but at the same time warm, cosy and comfortable. Debra was a lovely host and not intrusive. The caban is well away from the house so it feels like a private space. Would recommend it. Mulberry a fantastic restaurant 5 mins walk away. Great location for exploring west Wales. Great stay, thank you Debra.

    Cherry2016-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow this place is just fantastic ! Debra was warm, welcoming and helpful with advice in our communications. The Caban is lovely, set at the back of the house with private access and its own garden. It was fully equipped with everything one could want for the stay. Saundersfoot is a stunning part of the world and a great place to base yourself for exploring beautiful Pembrokeshire, we couldn't have wished for a better stay !

  • Thanks for a wonderful stay in the cottage. On arrival I couldn't believe the entire building was for us, with no other house's close by. It was bliss in the hot tub with clear stary sky's or with cold rain on your face. The place had a minimilst modern design with the old cottage roots complementing each other nicely.

    Ivan2016-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a long weekend with our dog, Pepper, and we had a fabulous time. The location was stunning and it was so luxurious to have the hot tub ready for us to get in whenever we liked! If you have a dog we would recommend the park/castle walk in Newcastle Emlyn, and also the beach and coastal walk around Llansteffan!

  • Had a great time, the cottage is exactly what we are after for a quiet week away. Would definitely recommand this place for a base to explore the region. Tanks and we would definitely want to come back.

  • We had such a lovely time at Dorian's cottage! Everything was perfect - such a lovely location and so private! The cottage was so clean and cosy and we loved the modern twist on it! Hot tub just made our stay and we spent the evenings in it star gazing! This is the perfect getaway! We will be back!

  • What a wonderful gem of a cottage! A perfect escape from the city into a pure and relaxed bliss. The pictures don't do the property justice, from the coziness of the log fire lit living room to the loft space bedroom, we were extremely impressed. Cardigan and Poppit Bay is only a 30 minute drive which offers some lovely cafes, bistros and restaurants along with some local shops and bakeries which was very welcoming. Fantastic hot tub watching the stars - even when there is a bit of rain! 100% recommend a stay here if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet time and a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much Dorian for the opportunity to stay here, it was exactly what was needed. The fresh flowers were such a lovely edition as well! We will definitely be back to visit this hidden gem - thank you again!

    MODERNIST COTTAGE WITH HOT TUB

Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's also plenty to read and lots of interesting CDs to play if you prefer.
Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. There's a bed settee in the living room if you do need it. We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of books, and a wall of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music and read the books but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier.
Snailbeach is small lead mining village in the heart of the South Shropshire hills. The miners have long since left, but the Victorian buildings still stand and are looked after by the Shropshire Mines Trust. From Snailbeach you can explore the Stiperstones, try some splendid real ale in Bishop's Castle or visit Shrewsbury's shops. Or you can throw caution to the winds and go mountain biking. Bring your own bike! Shropshire is such a beautiful place it's hard to know where to start describing the best bits. Come to stay, tell us what you like best and we'll point you in the right direction. Do try to visit our local pub while you're staying, it's great. You'll find some leaflets about the local area and a very fine book written by a local chap detailing walks all over the county. Check out Elsie's walk...she was the village post lady and her daughter lives just across the road. If you're into knitting, there's a Knit'nNatter at the pub on a Tuesday morning (with cake) and some fantastic guerrilla knitting in Bishop's Castle. And there's also a very good Morris dance team there too...
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Snailbeach. Genevieve and Allan were extremely welcoming and helpful. The accommodation was excellent - self-contained and everything I wanted. A lot of character. The area (Snailbeach) is enchanting.

  • We really enjoyed our flying trip to Genevieve and Allan's chalet in Shropshire. It was perfectly situated in the garden with the chickens wandering past. We had a very warm welcome, and appreciated the fresh bread, lovely selection of jams, coffee and teas and especially the bowel of toffees (of which we ate all!). The chalet is well laid out and thoughtfully furnished, you have everything you might need including shower gel and shampoo. Towels and robes are provided. Genevieve was extremely helpful and prompt in communicating via the Airbnb platform. We would definitely stay again.
