The Haven on the Hill era proprio questo.

Perfectly situated to explore all the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean has to offer, The Apple Loft is an idyllic getaway popular with honeymooners, walkers, cyclists and those just wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With panoramic views across Mork Valley, guests can walk our grassy tracks, explore the old lime kilns, picnic in our fields, say ‘hello’ to the pet sheep and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, stars and sunsets in this magical and relaxing retreat.
Combining period features with modern quirkiness and bespoke craftsmanship, the newly refurbished Apple Loft is a detached self-catering cottage for two with original oak beams, vaulted ceiling, stone walls and a feature arched window with spectacular views. Situated in the grounds of the owners 13th century Grade 2 listed farmhouse, located above an ancient cider press and at the end of a historical stone barn, 10 external stone steps lead to the front door, giving entrance to an open plan living, dining, kitchen area and bathroom with bath, shower, sink and WC. A unique internal staircase leads to the quirky mezzanine bedroom with low level king size bed. This high spec and comfortable conversion complete with oil central heating and real flame electric fire, includes an electric cooker with ceramic hob, microwave, under counter fridge with small freezer compartment, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and tv/ dvd player. Outside, the stone archway leads to a patio area complete with pergola and comfortable garden furniture so you can dine al fresco or relax with your favourite drink as you watch the sun go down! Beyond the patio is a newly landscaped teardrop garden area complete with fire pit, stream and bridge made from reclaimed sleepers which provides guests with their own personal access to our 40 acres of private countryside. Underneath the loft, guests may use the cider press area as a welly room and for lockable bike storage. A hose for cleaning muddy tyres or boots is located in the fire pit wood store and a free drying service for clothes in the main house if the weather is unpredictable. There is also ample parking outside. A complimentary basket of wood, kindling and fire lighters is provided for your first fire in the fire pit. After which you can purchase a secondary basket for £5 or you are more than welcome to bring to your own. This boutique property is one of two listings spaced well away from each other (see also our Set in 40 Acres of Private Countryside in AONB or click on our profile to view our other cottage) and is set within the grounds of the owners farmhouse. The former granny annexe which overlooks the fire pit and lawn area is kept empty to ensure that guests privacy is maintained at all times. From this tranquil setting guests can explore the Royal Forest of Dean, enjoyable in all seasons, and the Lower Wye Valley, the magnificent borderland between England and Wales. The River Wye and Offas Dyke is 2 miles down the road and all the attractions of the Forest of Dean are within a 10 minute drive. Underdean Lodge is a lovingly restored 2 double bedroom Georgian lodge on the edge of the Forest of Dean and is the perfect base for exploring both the Forest and the Wye Valley. The lodge includes beautiful period features and a wood burning stove. Dogs welcome. Footpaths lead to the Forest from the front door. We are ideally located adjacent to the A48 for convenient access to Gloucester, Monmouth and Chepstow which are all about 25 minutes away. View 'The Space' for Covid-19 measures taken.
We have restored this Grade 2 listed Georgian gate house sympathetically but with all the modern touches one requires for a comfortable stay away from home. The lodge is warm and cosy and despite its proximity to the road, is extremely quiet, thanks to high quality secondary and double glazing throughout. The house is decorated throughout with prints and photos of the surrounding area and we have a large map in the kitchen to help you plan your days out and country walks. COVID-19 UPDATE: Here is some additional information about the lodge in light of recent government announcements. We hope these put your mind at rest and show that you can still visit yet stay within current rules. - The lodge is located at least 30m from our house and more than 100m from any other neighbours. It also has it's own private parking area. - There are walks into the open countryside direct from the door. - Many of our guests have received online shopping deliveries to the lodge in the past so we know this is possible. - The lodge will be fully aired between guests. - We've implemented a new, even more rigorous, cleaning regime ensuring that all surfaces are throroughly washed with a bleach based cleaning fluid and we wash bedding in Dettol anti bacterial washing detergent (sensitive).
Breathtaking views of the River Severn are accessible just a few minutes walk from the Lodge and for those who want to go further, Forest walks are a 15 minute walk away down a pretty country lane. The Lodge is the ideal base from which to explore the Forest with multiple walks and amenities within the Forest, such as GO APE!, just a 10 minute drive away. The Cock Inn in Blakeney is a superb friendly local with a welcoming fire, lovely beer garden and terrific food as well. Blakeney is also served by a nice Italian restaurant, Dolce Vita, and a decent Fish & Chip Shop. Newnham is also only a couple of miles away. This, again, offers a range of pubs, a great cafe and some lovely shops in which to browse. There is also an excellent local butcher (open on Fridays and Saturdays). Lydney (10 minutes drive away) has a Tesco and Co-op and all the shops and services you'd expect from a mid sized town.

Perfettamente pulito e tutti i servizi necessari.

A tranquil haven to escape to and lose yourself in the beauty of nature waiting on your doorstep. Your 1 acre garden has places to relax, free range chickens (eggs for breakfast!) roaming, a bee hive and is full of interesting trees and wildlife. The picturesque Whitebrook stream runs the length of the garden and you can clamber down and explore. Our 18th century stone-built cosy cottage is ideal for 2 with open plan kitchen/dining/living & double bedroom/ensuite shower. 15 minutes to Monmouth.
Our newly renovated cosy getaway is perfect for 2 people looking for a short or long break, fab for exploring the Wye Valley and convenient if attending local functions or visiting friends/family. Singles, couples, friends and families all welcome and we do have an additional double bed settee in the lounge/diner/kitchen and 2 chair beds in the bedroom. A simple breakfast is provided in the annexe and includes milk, cereal, bread & jams/marmalades. Tea and coffee supplies also provided. Mobile reception is patchy, there is a landline in the house should you need it. Wi-fi isn't available yet!
A fab and picturesque village with real character set in a valley with a pretty stream running down to the river Wye. "The Whitebrook" the village's very own fab Michelin starred restaurant is 300m down the road from us - great for special occasions. "The Boat" at Redbrook is a great bike ride away (bit tough riding back up the hill!) but well worth the cycle (or you can drive) - an old traditional Inn with log burners nestling on the banks of the Wye - local ales/ciders and simple pub food. Walking, mountain biking (great off-road tracks), road cycling, kayaking, canoeing are all either on our own doorstep or on the doorstep of the village. The old castle towns of Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow are short drives away with an abundance of beautiful villages, walks and country eateries scattered throughout.

Molto amichevole e informativo all'arrivo.

Ci è piaciuto stare a casa tua.

Peter's Nest is a favourite cottage for honeymooners and couples--especially walkers and those with dogs! This Cotswold stone cottage tucked away by woods is the perfect 'love nest' for two, Virgilian in bucolic peace and sweet sylvan scenery. Downstairs the house has an modern, open-plan kitchen and living room with a wood-burning stove in one corner and a small bathroom. Upstairs is a cosy bedroom with a low ceiling, a perfect retreat from the world.
In a clearing below Peter's Nest Wood known mysteriously as 'Hell's Throat', hard by a woodland spring is the original tiny cottage of Woodwells farmstead, marked on an 1847 map. INTERIOR Downstairs we enter through the kitchen, which leads into the living room with comfortable dining and sitting areas, and a cosy wood-burning stove. The bathroom is adjacent. As this is a small cottage the ceiling height is low in the bathroom! The cottage is heated by storage heaters. A narrow staircase lead upstairs to the small double attic bedroom (with very low, sloping ceilings under the eaves) with queen-sized bed, enjoying views to the west down the Owlpen valley. Hanging space for clothes is provided under the eaves, and a small dressing table. Peters Nest is situated in the east of the valley in the heart of the woods, making it a perfect location for walkers looking to explore the valley, and is adjacent to Woodwells cottage. There is ample parking and a small garden adjoining the garden of Woodwells cottage. There is also a large wilderness woodland dell to the east of the cottage. A small wrought iron table provides the opportunity to enjoy a sunset aperitif or breakfast coffee. Or watch the wild life and sociable pheasants. Key Features •Favourite with honeymooners •Nestled in the heart of the woods •Perfect location for walkers •Wood-burning stove •Dog friendly •Sleeps 2
The Cotswolds are one of England's best known touring regions of picturesque hills, limestone villages and scenic attractions. The magical deep wooded valleys here form its most spectacular scenery. Golf, gliding, riding, antique shops, historic houses, castles and gardens nearby. But many visitors never leave the privacy of the Owlpen estate, with its miles of footpaths and utter seclusion. The Owlpen valley has long been recognised as one of the most romantic places in England and provides guests with an exclusive and relaxing hideaway, surrounded by private woods and hills and many miles of walks--from a gentle stroll round the estate trails to a 20 mile trek along the Cotswold Way. This is Laure Lee country, situated in the Royal Triangle in the heart of the Cotswolds hills. The historic cities of Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester are all within an easy drive, as are the cultural and scenic attractions of Oxford, Blenheim and Stratford Upon Avon, which are popular day excursions. An ideal base for the Horse Trials at Badminton and Gatcombe Park and racing at Cheltenham. Westonbirt Arboretum and the Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge are nearby. Newark Park (National Trust) and Woodchester Mansion are three miles away, as well as many historic houses and gardens, including Berkeley Castle, Chavenage House, Sudeley Castle, and Highgrove—if you can get in. The choice of attractions and things to see and do is huge and you will need to return many times to see and explore it all.

Tutti i lati positivi qui!

    Frank2019-07-25T00:00:00Z

It has a post office incorporating a village store, garage, farm shop/cafe (200m). The village pub 'The Malt Shovel Inn' dates back many centuries and is old fashioned in approach and friendly. Other local pubs are The Forge Hammer which is also home to its own micro brewery and also a curry restaurant and take away and The Royal Spring. The Forest is easily accessible and Puzzle Wood (Star Wars, Merlin etc) is about 15 mins away by car (Coleford). The cottage is an ideal hub for the Forest but remember Gloucester, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Monmouth or Hereford are all well within a short car trip... should the peace or all of the Forest's outside activities prove too much to bear. Danby Cottage is located in the Forest of Dean. So close to nature there's a good chance of seeing wild deer right outside the front door! Forest walks, parks, cycle paths, activity centres, craft centres, pubs and places to eat are all within walking distance. After a long day you'll be able to sit back and relax in the garden in the summer, or by the log fire in the winter! Our extended cottage has been designed specifically for family living with a large living dining room.
The living dining room has a wonderful pitched ceiling and log burning stove for those winter evenings. Our downstairs and garden are completely accessible to wheelchair users. The cottage is surrounded by forest and there are lovely walks in all directions. The kitchen is well equipped for keen cooks and has a lowered worktop for wheelchair users or young cooks who want to help! The cottage was extended in 2007 and great care was taken to make the whole building sustainable. We won a gold for green tourism which we still maintain.
The cottage is in a very peaceful and quiet setting. The area has a very interesting agricultural and industrial history of which there are many remnants to visit. Puzzle wood was once Roman ironworks, Hopewell coal colliery still welcomes visitors, clear well caves was once the source of ochre used for painting and the Forestry Commission have done much to enhance their sites for visitors, including Go Ape and the Sculpture trail. The Speech house is now a hotel with good grub but was once the Verderers Courthouse.

Relax and kick back in this beautiful, homely and luxurious cottage in the heart of the stunning Wye Valley. This much-loved holiday home is newly renovated to high standards with high quality rustic touches and feel-good factor in spades. The cottage is in the centre of Redbrook - a thriving village on the River Wye. Outdoor-lovers will be spoilt for choice with first-class walking, canoeing and mountain-biking on your doorstep.
A warm welcome to Wheelwright's Cottage! We pride ourselves on attention to detail and invite you to treat yourself to a real 'home from home'. If you want to switch off and rejuvenate, you're guaranteed an amazing night's sleep in the super comfy king-size bed. The cottage has all the modern home comforts you'd expect, too - including a dishwasher, fast WiFi and good selection of Sky channels. In the mornings, wake up to a powerful shower and a coffee on the patio surrounded by nature and the sound of the stream. On autumn evenings, get toasty in front of a roaring woodburner or dig out a selection of board games.
If you make it out of the cottage, you'll find Redbrook to be a welcoming village with great amenities. Pop into the shop / Post Office for local tips and delicious home-made cherry pie! We swear it's the best we've tasted. There are two good pubs; The Bell is known for its live music night on Fridays and meandering conversations with the locals! The Boat is on the other side of the footbridge and offers an 'oldie worldie' setting with roaring fires and a stunning terraced beer garden overlooking the river. There is a village green on the banks of the river with access for canoes, and a well maintained playground.
