Descrizione

This sunny 1 bedroom cottage has 180º views across False Bay to the mountains beyond. The cottage has a fully equipped separate kitchen and living space, with a double sofa bed. It is the perfect weekend getaway or family holiday base in Cape Town.

This self-catering cottage is part of our residential property and is set in a fynbos garden overlooking breathtaking views of False Bay and beyond. It is the perfect base to explore the exciting adventures in the Cape, and comfortable and quiet enough to just kick back, read a book or have a daily swim from our wonderful beaches.

While we understand people think such a small town is only worth 1 night's stay, we really recommend that you stay 2 or many more. There is so much to do in Simon's Town and the surrounding area, that one night really does not do it justice.

Important notice: We charge an extra fee for additional adults over two. But do not charge an additional fee for children under 16. If you want to come with your children, please book the number of adults, and message us separately the number of children so that we can sort out the beds correctly.

1 bedroom (one double bed)
A double sleeper couch in the lounge can accommodate 2 more guests.
1 bathroom (en-suite) with shower only
Open plan dining and living space with fully equipped kitchen
Outside terrace with braai/ BBQ facilities.
Beach towels provided.
A single fold bed can be set up should this be needed.
Please note that although the cottage can accommodate five (at a push a couple and 3 kids), it is not suited for groups of adults. We suggest a maximum of two adults. Children are more than welcome (and we do not charge extra for children under 16).

The cottage is entirely separate from the main house. We live on the property and will be more than happy to assist with any local or tourist suggestions, queries or recommendations.

Simon's Town is a historic naval base overflowing with legends, victorian architecture and delicious eating houses. Harbour Heights Cottage is situated above the main town, has a view overlooking the working naval docks, and is close to the coves and beaches, including the legendary Boulders Beach (with the world's largest jackass penguin colony).

While we understand people think such a small town is only worth 1 night's stay, we really recommend that you stay 2 or more. There is so much to do in Simon's Town and the surrounding area, that one night really does not do it justice.

Whales, ships, yachts and incredible sunrises can be viewed from the double bed. The cottage is at the top of a stepped pathway that will take you to town. Simon's Town offers incredible access to culinary delights (from breakfasts and cakes to sushi and pastas), heritage and culture (museums, galleries, ghost walks and submarine tours) and extreme adventure (sea kayaking, sailing, diving, surfing, golfing, fishing, horse-riding and day tours). If driving, the whole of Cape Town and its vineyards on your doorstep. Behind us is the Table Mountain National Park and the Cape Point Nature Reserve is just down the road.

Simon's Town is 45km (or around 45 minutes' drive) from the city bowl and 50 minutes from the airport.

How to get to Simon's Town from the Airport:
Take the N2 in the direction of Cape Town,
Take the M3 junction 6 exit slipway to the left (signed: Rhodes Drive / Muizenberg) and stay on this road to its end in about 15km,
At the t-junction, there is a traffic light where the motorway ends, turn right and travel for for 1km,
Take the left fork at the 2nd set of lights onto OU KAAPSE WEG, the M64 (signed: Fish Hoek / Simon's Town) and follow for 14km. Ou Kaapse Weg (or Old Cape Road) is a long mountain pass road that winds through national parks and has wonderful views until it sweeps down in to Sun Valley.
Keep heading straight, through 2 sets of lights, over and down another hill until you reach a set of traffic lights a T-junction by the sea in Glencairn.
Turn right at this T-junction/traffic light and head on for 6 km until you enter Simon's Town on St. Georges Street.

Once in Simon's Town
Pass the Simon's Town train station and Admiralty House on your left.
On your left there is a sign right pointing to Runciman Drive.
Shortly after, on your right, veer onto the offramp, Soldiers Way and at the top of this small rise, turn right into Arsenal.
Turn left into Cornwall. As you crest the hill, this road becomes Runciman Drive.
Head on, passed the stop and carry on until the view opens up on your left. On the right, just before the right hand turn up to Harbour Heights you will see a long gate with lizards on it.

You have arrived. Park on the road, and ring the bell. We'll come to meet you.

Parking is available on the street or inside the driveway.

Being on a mountain, the cottage is up an incline. It is not entirely suitable for the elderly or people with physical challenges.

Important notice: We charge an extra fee for additional adults over two. But do not charge an additional fee for children under 16. If you want to come with your children, please book the number of adults, and message us separately the number of children so that we can sort out the beds correctly.

Regole della casa
Non è consentito fumare
Animali non ammessi
Vietato organizzare feste/eventi
Check-in dopo le 14:00

Smoking is allowed outside the cottage on the verandah, but not inside it.

Our dogs are very friendly, but please let us know if you or a guest are worried about them. Because the dogs are so friendly and like to explore, please make sure that the gates are firmly shut before you walk or drive away. If the wind blows or a small pebble is in the way of the gate's track, this can cause the gate to stop mid-way and then the dogs will run out. Thank you for making sure that the gate closes.

You are welcome to use the patio umbrella. Please take it down and off its pedestal if the wind starts to come up. The umbrella is stored under the long bench in the kitchen.

There are fish in the pond. Let us know if you want to feed them - we are happy either way, we just don't want them to be under or over fed.
