Serdar-ı Ekrem is the busiest, liveliest, most popular street in Galata. It may be just one street but it is home to a wide variety of funky, fancy, and down-right quirky shops and boutiques. Just take it step by step, and spend a few hours exploring vintage shops, designer boutiques, jewelry stores and much more.

If you walk on Galip Dede Caddesi going down from İstiklal Caddesi (right by Tünel), you’ll see Serdar-ı Ekrem Caddesi on your left in a few minutes. Pass Füreyya Balıkçısı on the corner (a great option for lunch if you’re after tasty, fresh fish), and enter this chic street.

You can walk over to Fifth Ave Galata where a mixture of vintage, second hand, and current garments hang in a tiny store, also filled with other accessories like sunglasses, hats, and jewelry.

Vintage shopping aside, your next stop on Serdar-ı Ekrem has to be Lunapark. This is the kind of store that you can’t leave empty-handed, specializing in items that are solely Turkish – by nostalgic Turkish brands or contemporary Turkish designers. Here, you’ll find a range of traditional and humorous products, from cosmetics, accessories, bags, and food to home décor, stationary, and books.

Make sure to check out jewelry designer Aida Pekin’s store (located all the way at the end of the street) and world-renowned designer Arzu Kaprol. As for Hakan Yıldırım, a true talent for designing both gowns that wow any crowd, and basics with modern twists, his store Section Mode Unique will be located on your left side.

After your photo shoot, stop by Mavra, a cozy little cafe that has indulge-worthy appetizers, salads, pastas, and meat-heavy mains. It’s quite a calm café, often filled with its frequenters just typing away on their laptops or reading the day’s paper as if they are in their own living rooms.

Once you get going again, stop by Sofa Art & Antiques. This quirky little store has something for every taste and budget. It’s kind of a mythical treasure box, with each corner hiding an unexpected find, both old and new. This may be a sculpture, a mirror, or maybe a piece of jewelry.

Halfway down the sartorial street, you will be walking by Les Benjamins, one of the best luxurious t-shirt stores in Istanbul. Getting their inspirations from Les Jeunes Turcs, the designers at Les Benjamins create humurous graphics using the faces of famous people. A couple steps down the road, 290sqm, the urban boutique from Amsterdam has fresh sneakers, cool garments, and exclusive collaborations by hip designers both for men and women.

Last but not least, go into Atelier 55, a very elegant boutique selling clothing, jewelry, and home décor items by Turkish as well as international designers, uch as Bora Aksu, Batya Kebudi, Misela, R Y Augousti, Umit Benan, and Charlotte Olympia.

The modern, charming apartment in a beautifully renovated building was lovely to return to after long days of sightseeing. Ideal for a couple. Comfortable and quiet back bedroom. Modern bath and kitchen. Munir was responsive and had gone out of his way to leave treats as a welcome. Lots of quaint restaurants nearby - Galata Kitchen was a gem for breakfast nearly around the corner. The landmark to give cab drivers is Galata Tower...some couldn't find the address, but it's just a step away from the Tower. Thanks, Munir!!

SUPER LOCATION! In a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance to all major attractions. We used metro, tram, bus, uber with no issues, public transportation in Istanbul is great. Don't think twice, the apartment is beautiful, very well equipped and Münir adds an extra touch by leaving a fridge full of fresh food. He shared a must see and do list for Istanbul that proved to be worthless.

Communicating and booking this apartment with Munir was efficient and straightforward. The apartment is designed and furnished well and is a very comfortable and homely (without too much personal clutter) place to spend a week. The neighbourhood is cool and full of nice design shops, restaurants and coffee shops.

Munir's apartment is definitely fantastic. I enjoyed every moment of staying there and feel like I have a home in the middle of Galata. Flat exactly looks like how its been shown on photos even better. It was so clean and tidy. Delicately designed with many souvenirs and props. Bed was very comfortable. Very central and quiet place. Munir had left presents for us in the fridge. Thank you ... Thank you ...Thank you ...

Love love loved this apartment. The neighbourhood was perfect with wonderful cafes and shops. Walk down the hill to Galata Bridge and Voila you are in the old town. It was really cold and snowy when we were there but the underfloor heating kept us toasty. The complimentry snacks and drinks in the fridge were appreciated. Thank you Münir

The apartment is amazingly well taken care of. My host was very helpful and very reachable via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or iMessage. I will definitely stay here when I come back to Istanbul! Everything is exactly as in the pictures. You should have a look at the refrigerator... so much chocolate you could get diabetes from! Hahaha... I had an amazing time here because it is right in the middle of the city and just 1 minute from Galata Tower... the main attraction point of this neighbourhood. I just loved the whole atmosphere and the design. I can see that the owners appreciates design and has an eye for the particularities of it.
