Private Garden with BBQ

We live on site, so are here if you need us, if not we'll leave you well alone

Ideal for walkers, bikers and escapees this is rural Cumbria at it’s peak. Coniston Water 4 miles and Lake Windermere 6 miles are close enough for a quick dip (we’ll let you into the locals secrets and you’ll discover secret swimming coves in true Swallows and Amazon’s style), Grizedale Forest Enterprise Centre, 6miles offers unique off road trials for bikers and walkers through wood and stone sculptures scattered amongst the trees.
We are ideally located close enough to the national park to enjoy its unparalled beauty and character but also within the Furness Peninsula which offers subtle diversions from the associated bustle of the more frequented Lakes hot spots. The medieval priory village of Cartmel, home to the most picturesque meets on the UK race calender (May and August bank holidays), Haverthwaite Steam Engines and Lakeside Steam Cruises, Holker Hall and Gardens and the Victorian seaside town of Grange are all within 30 mins drive.

Emma was the perfect host. Easy to communicate with and fast to respond. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome with baked treats, wine and other special touches around the home. A beautiful home with plenty of space and a well-equipped kitchen. Beds, lounge and dining all super comfortable. Plenty of outdoor space to explore and amazing scenery to enjoy. Less than 10min drive to the nearest town. Our family of 4 adults, a 7yo and 7mo had a wonderful 5 night stay. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Our stay in Tyan was lovely, the pictures on Emma's profile don't do the place justice. The views out from the living area, kitchen and bedrooms are amazing. It's a perfect place for a long weekend break away from the city. Emma left us out some essentials for our arrival, a nice thoughtful touch and I loved the ginger cake that she'd left out! Very comfortable and cosy, would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay here and really couldn't fault anything. The views are absolutely stunning and worth the drive up to the house. We spent a lot of time at the house, as we had to wait for our car to be fixed, and it had everything we needed - including lots of board games to keep us entertained. The wifi was a little spotty, but that's to be expected due to the location. Everything was clean and comfortable and Emma popped by to see if everything was okay and if we needed anything. We shall be back very soon.

Emma goes the extra mile to welcome guests - a warm cosy place on entry plus milk, bread, butter cakes and a bottle of wine! All of these things were very welcome after sitting on the M6 for seven hours.... It was dark by the time we arrived outside lights were on awaiting our arrival. In the morning on opening the curtains the view took my breath away stunning!! So glad we were staying in Tyan which is the upstairs accommodation. If I was to pick fault with anything it would be the fir tree in Emma and Grahams garden in the way of the view ha ha. We were so lucky with the weather October school half term can go either way 4 days of sunshine to start us off then an overcast day and a windy one when we walked up the monument in Ulverstone who could complain about that. The Autumn colours everywhere were magical. We certainly filled our week starting with Fell Foot park run on the Saturday morning and a visit to Booths supermarket in the afternoon what a great shop that is I want one to open in Bath superb quality food and a wonderful selection save shopping till you arrive!! Sunday we drove to Bowness and took the ferry across to visit Beatrix Potters house at Hill Top. Monday Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston water followed by lunch in Ambleside. Tuesday lovely dog walk from Tyan up the hill to the left great views to the sea behind. Then we went to Grizedale and did the purple family bike ride - was very hard work for me and my Granddaughter not so for my Daughter who cycled two of the top 10 bike rides in the UK on the Monday... we had food in a pub in Hawkshead on the way back Red Lion I think great burgers yum. Wednesday we all visited Scott Park Bobbin Mill and had a fabulous guided tour Tracy made the whole place come to life well worth a visit real insight into History. Then we went to Hawkshead for a stroll around and the Beatrix Potter Exhibiton and lunch at a pub there think it was The Sun good pub food. Then drove over the Mountain tops (Whennrose pass?) that was a hairy ride but in a good way. Thursday we drove to the sea for a look and to say we have visited that coastline sadly not worth the effort, drove on to Seascale - Wasdale Head and ate at the pub there wonderful scenery all around. An area well worth a visit lots to see and do for all ages.
