Little, mid century, ranch style, private guest house, on Point Dume peninsula. We are surrounded by Big & Little Dume coves, Westward & Zuma Beaches. Malibu is 27 mi. long and 2 mi. wide.
Cottage has one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room,w/ large tv and wifi. Picture window looks back to mountains, & down to our lovely tennis court. Bring your own or borrow rackets to play.
We are 3 blocks to beach in each direction as seen on map.
A lovely private tennis-and-beach getaway with lots of open land, set in Maibu's beloved Point Dume neighborhood. The clean, detached space has a homey feel, smart swing-out windows for fresh Malibu sea air, and the rooms have wi-fi, a large desk area, (great for writers), entertainment system, breakfast table, and a full kitchen. We have cultural touches inside the guest-house like the Beatles Anthology, complete cartoons of The New Yorker, a "Far Side" comics collection, and new and vintage books. Little Dume beach is a gem for surfers and general beachgoers alike, and ocean-lovers are also close to Zuma, El Matadar, County Line, etc. Also recommend exploring the back end of Mulholland highway, a serenely pastoral region that leads to wineries and displays the old, untouched Malibu, just like the tide pools and sea caves at Leo Carillo beach, or some of the secret hiking paths.
The property is near (and walkable to) quite a bit, including Sunlife Organics for great juices and smoothies as well as Cafecito Organico, a top fair-trade coffee roaster, and Duck Dive. Also many new places to eat.
Many beach locations from classic and not so classic movies are all around for the film buff. NYTimes article '36 hrs in the 'bu' is our area. One block away, grocery, coffee shop, restaurants and new bookstore. Walk the beach, bike, or hike the mountain or have a game of tennis.
Our area is an eclectic, super safe, residential area, full of nature loving, the sports minded and families, as well as our many celebrities.

Patricia and Jeff have a great guest house in a great part of Malibu. The guest house is beautiful, quiet, easily accessible, well stocked and close to beach, restaurants and grocery store. They were very helpful and flexible with my changing travel plans. Would definitely be my choice for any future visits.
Just wonderful. Comes with coveted private key to beach access between Paradise Cove and Point Dume. Patricia graciously gave a tour of the area (including how to acesss the private beach). She also greeted us with warm cookies and remained available for questions if needed.
Cute place, nice host, great access to the beach, and you can hear the ocean from the guest house. Couldn't have been better.
It was such a pleasure to spend the weekend at Patricia and Jeff’s cozy little guest house. They are both the consummate hosts, always willing to explain more about their neighborhood and point out where the celebrities live, but careful to respect your privacy. It was truly lovely getting to know them both!
They had the house all ready with many special touches, including fresh baked cookies and cheese and other treats in the fridge. It was such a treat!
Perhaps the best part of their home is the private beach you can access through a locked gate to which they give you the key. Imagine awesome surf with only a few people there, and off leash dog freedom.
You are close enough to civilization and the crazy city that is LA, but far enough away that you really feel refreshed after only a weekend. We hope to go back soon!
Because my home is being renovated, I rented this nearby "guesthouse" as a gift for my 35v year old son and his girlfriend from New York who were visiting my family, extended family, and friends in area for a 2 week period over Christmas & New Years. Patricia, the host, felt this arrangement to be "awkward" and indeed the arrangement went from "awkward" to unpleasant. Once my son established with Patricia that there was a persistent odor of sewage within the unit she immediately responded to and paid for them to stay at another air bnb for 2 nights while plumbers were employed to remedy the problem, however she asked them to move out all their belongings, food, and to return the key for those two days and to move back on New Years Day despite their busy plans to visit family in another part of Los Angeles that day. She refused to extend their stay at the other place where they had moved in or to reimburse me the remainder of the money I spent for what I had hoped would be a stressless vacation. Consequently, I also paid for them to remain in the other air bnb that was more private, peaceful, and pleasant for their vacation.
Apart from the odor issue, this unit is not the sort of Air bnb you just arrive, pick up the key, and have a sense of privacy. This is more the place to go if you want contact with the host who insists she meet you and provide a tour of the area and helpful area info. It feels like you are in an extension of the host's home with personal items, rather than a free-standing guesthouse.
We loved our stay in your guesthouse! Thank you for welcoming us with cookies and fruit. Jeff's tour was a highlight - many thanks for that. We were very comfortable and would love to return.
Everything was just as we expected and more. Patricia was enthusiastic, informative about the area, and made us feel right at home. We appreciated the little extras that she provided, like warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival, fresh fruit, coffee fixings, things to read, places to visit, and a private tour of the neighborhood. The house and grounds were immaculate and the neighborhood was spectacular. Oh yeah! And the TV was awesome! We enjoyed watching our sports teams win and The Hunger Games on the large screen TV. This was our first Airbnb experience and we are very pleased!
This is a nice affordable private place to stay in Malibu, I enjoyed going to the private beach with my dog everyday and feeling like a millionaire local. There is also a nice big grassy yard to play fetch and a huge flat screen tv. This is a great neighbourhood because it is one of the few areas on the ocean side and well removed from the noisy Pacific Coast Highway. I also really liked the nearby Sunlife Organic cafe for fresh or cold pressed juices to hydrate and relax after the beach.
